Very well done. It's nice to find a how-to done by someone who is articulate, understands the tasks at hand and has a commitment to quality workmanship. Big props for the solder/heat shrink treatment.
I got the sound working right after checking the video, all I had to do was to connect the System Remote Control Cable, apparently it somehow disconnected it self haha, it was divided into 2 Cables with 1 Contact on each part so I just plugged them togheter and connected the stereo to a ISO-Cable/adapter , and that to the car, all worked perfect instantly, and I also got the mic installed above my steering-wheel panel area, Everything works fine :) thanks again for the video and hints!
There is a metal panel on the back seat behind the middle armrest that most people cut out to let the sound travel into the cabin from the trunk. It makes a bit of a difference especially if you can get a box made to fire toward that opening.
Did your stereo have the factory amp? I am thinking of upgrading my Head unit and I have the factory amp- I am worried because I see everyone say you can not simply install an aftermarket radio and have that all work.
I am not good at cars. I just want to buy a new cd player. I bought a second hand bmw e39, and it already has an old aftermarket cd player. Do I still need to solder things to connect the new cd player? I am going from an older kenwood to a new pioneer model. Can you please make a video of how to remove that plastic face around the cd player? The new cd player model also has steering wheels control input and I want to get it running (I saw the connects2 connectors and such), but I do not know if those are brought over that plastic thingie.
Thanks so much for this video, I just bought a Pioneer stereo yesterday and connected it but had no sound at all, so Im gonna try to mess around with that System Remote Cable too since I saw the stereo had one on the back just like yours ( cant remember the model name of my Pioneer but its nothing fancy, just wanted Bluetooth and USB Connection ), my car is a BMW 740i '95 e38 but the Cables seem similiar to yours, so it should work about the same way right?
I did this installation on a '94 BMW and it was pretty much the same as yours. I am thinking of buying an E39 which is why I watched your video. What about the unit below the head unit with the 12 pin connector that you removed first? Obviously you did not put that back in so what functionality is lost?
The computer functionality that the business radio provided. I think it told you average mileage and trip mileage or something. I never really used it so I could not really tell you. Sorry
I want to install ERISIN autoradio to my E39 which is equipped with basic BMW autoradio Business CD. Do I need to buy any adapters or cables? What about GPS? Can I leave GPS antenna inside of the autoradio house? Thanks
You will still likely need an adapter and more than likely it will be the same one that I used. The GPS cable may need to be somewhere other than coiled uip behind the radio if you plan on using the GPS function so that the antenna can get a good reception... depending on the antenna strength etc. I am not familiar with that model of head unit though
Usualy there are two hooks that are used for pulling the unit out of the metal bracket, if those hooks didnt existed once the radio is inserted there is no pulling back out because there is nothing backing off the pins.
Hello everybody, I have just purchased a 1997 BMW 540i. By watching these videos I have learned to SAVE $$$$$$$!!!!!!. PERIOD. But I have yet to find how to get the stock CD changer to work on a aftermarket radio. This would help me greatly. Also, This vehicle needs a lot of TLC to fix her up. there is multiple things wrong with her, driving lamps not working (not plugged in ??) key remote not working, alarm not working ( when I lock doors with key, park lights blink, no alarm though) rear drivers door I think is unplugged so as to not work, or unlock. Display for the digital readout for driver sometimes becomes crystal clear, and other times very hard to read. Air/heater only blows heat. All the time. Had to unplug it just to turn it off. Power is still going to it, but no fan. HELP, HELP, I am on a budget, and have to do this for myself.
can you send me a pic of your wiring and setup to the email jj_jame@yahoo.com plz I would really appreciate it bro. Mostly the setup in your trunk and what you did I wouldlike to see
+Anwar Anwar Hey, have you found out the answer to your question? I'm also interested in that, if the cd is changed, will those steering wheel buttons work or not? Let me know, if you got the answer already :)
+aakash421 yes if you heat the wire too much you can cause damage for car stereos that are stationary connectors or electrical tape works better just make sure you have the wires tied or twisted together good
Wayne Salway yep... and it worked just fine. Thanks for watching. Oh.... and my day job pays better so I won't be giving that up sir... thanks for the advice👌🏾
My bad man. For some reason I missed this message. You can email me if you have not got this figured out... I am sure you have by now. But my entire system is amped up so I can help you with the speaker issue.
For what you are doing it should work the same way. oh... and TEST TEST TEST the microphone wire BEFORE you go through the trouble of running it... TRUST ME.. lol
