EAFC 24 is HORRIBLE 

All teams = Identical. All tactics = Identical. All gameplay = Identical. Everyone is an NPC weirdo and cant deviate from it because of their pack addiction. That's also a huge factor...

The cutback meta is annoying, but what's really annoying is that you can know it's coming, defend against it, and a pass will still sneak through an impossible lane. It shouldn't be impossible to defend against a tactic when you know it's coming.

If everyone stopped buying store packs this game would be fixed. EA isn’t incentivized to fix anything as long as they’re making money

The problem is the auto matic defending , and the lack of 1 v1 situations. As soon as you get the ball you got 2-3 ai pressing controlled players closing you down and defending perfectly, that you can only play backwards. This slows game down alot

the biggest issue is that EA has zero incentive to listen to the community. They’re continuing to make money from people spending on packs, and that’s all they care about.

Bring me back to fifa 18 days , I miss when there was no gk movement , no broken defensive AI and actually good attacking AI + good left stick dribbling

Totally agree with you Nick, been playing since forever and i'm 33 right now, played every year and it's only gotten worse. It's not even about defense, it's about skill gap as you said. I lost to players ONLY doing cutbacks, it's embarassing and absolutely not fun. Hopefully they'll patch something, but knowing EA... hope is not a strategy, better touch some grass.

SBMM killing every game

This is seriously the first fifa I’ve had that I’ve felt unmotivated to get on the game. Just doesn’t hit the same anymore. The last fifas have been decent, but even if I said I was unmotivated to get on, I still would. It’s Not even only because of the gameplay and the content in this game. But it’s literally just boring to play. There are so many better games I can play instead of this shit

I think a lot of it is defensive width. If you look in a 442 your opposite side RM/LM plays basically as another CM and then your back 4 sits inside the goalposts all the time so it makes impossible to go into the middle and you have to play down the wings

Attackers are making perfect tackles which is one of the main problems. Benzema or Mbappe shouldn't make perfect tackle like VVD does. Everyone is pressing high up the pitch but if you can't counter fast enough its immediately turning into drop back. Thats horrendous. I dont wanna play this game anymore. I feel you bro.

Do EA devs even play the game? They nerf attacking every year to the point where all u can do now is run down the line and cutback. EA devs need to sit down play elite div rivals and see how long it takes for them to loose their sanity

if u ever do a squad battle on a high difficulty you'll notice the ai play just like these rats do by going down the sideline, its coded in the game this is the way your suppose to play

i feel like they can add like a volta type mode to ultimate team, 2k added clutch time to their game which is just a 1 qtr game mode. i think if EA added a quicker type game mode to play online with actual rewards. they also need to make the game mode its own thing and not just stick it under the friendlies game modes. just a game mode thought.

Fut champs last weekend 2/3 of the people I played had pretty much an identical team. And at least 90% of the goals I scored were finesse shots with salah and power shots with forlan. It’s doing my head in because I want to score in different ways but it’s just so hard. My only option is to abuse playstyle+.

You know, i realized one important thing. You can have all the GREAT players in this game, but if the tactics and gameplay is so unresponsive and rigged then what Fun can you expect? Its like real life, buy all the expensive players, but if theres no tactics and chemistry how will the team win?! Thats what this game embodies. I see so many luscious players and cool SBCs but then i remind myself, if you’ll get this player your still gonna lose either way unless you do broken mechanics so then i wean off doing it… In terms of SBMM, why?! Not everyone is trying to go pro. Every game is incorporating SBMM and it's ruining the fun to just hop on and win. Games are to distract and just forget about the world for a second so for the whole industry naturally making these games to be like an unwanted career for all of us is like wtf!

I hate to play with wingers in general, so im struggling this year with my 4-3-1-2 What drives me nuts the most this year, is the boredom though of ppl in terms of Player choices. In 9 out of 10 games i play against van dijk, Salah, Son, Griezmann just spamming FinessShot+ after pacing down the wing. So effing boring

I used to average between 12 and 15 wins (17-20 in the old system) in Fut Champs last 4 Fifas and it was pretty fun, this year for some reason I only get between 6 and 9 and I really want to know why... maybe because of the new defending idk

I'm still playing this game simply because of my love for football but if EA somehow manages to screw up black friday i'm quitting. There's a limit to how much bullshit i can tolerate from EA, i just wish i hadn't even bought it.

Mate you're 100% here I have played Ultimate team from the very beginning of FIFA 12 and have 2,000 games plus on every single one of the ultimate teams since then as well as playing near enough every single weekend league since it's introduction in FIFA 17 and for last few years been getting average 14 wins every weekend league which just is not rewarding at all. This year is the first year it's just not the same for me and everyone is fed up of the same bs I stopped playing a few weeks ago after around 12 years of playing ultimate team near enough everyday when possible.

If EA made a patch that made your defenders actually cover those who step in the box when they're free and open for a cutback pass, that would save my sanity. Cut backs are legitimate attacking options, but they are not easy to pull off because most defenders are not so passive in real life.

All content creators need to come together and make mass videos to get ea to notice and make changes....

At the end of the day it's our "fault"! Other gaming communities of non-sport-games literally laughing at us for still playing this game year after year even though we know how bad this company is. They starting shitstorms that are so big that they are coming up in the news and social media, everywhere, they demanding their money back from the sites and platforms they've bought it on, some even contacting consumer protection. And, for the most part, they don't buy the next year's game and they don't get into microtransactions. EA Sports has one record year after the other in microtransactions sales, so there a lot of people that can't stop playing and paying for this crappy game. As long as this happens, EA won't improve much.

Fifa has become animation-based. Bring back the arcadey gameplay. Back in the day, it allowed you to play more realistic football, even though no one would mistake the visuals for actual real life matches.

This is the first year I stopped playing before TOTY, just cant do it. At first I thought it was related to burn out because how long I played FIFA 23 but after 4 WL's I just realized I do not like the gameplay this year. They clearly just care about the store and not the game itself

The best one I played was the one with the 2010 World Cup. Since 20, every new one starts good/great and as soon as updates are thrown, play quality goes down.

It’s beyond bad, you can even tell with the content creators everybody is checked out. There is no “aura” around the game anymore. Champs is the only kinda playable mode, rivals is torture and friendlies is sbmm prison with nerfed rewards from past games. The latest cup they released must be a practical joke the rewards wouldn’t be good enough for the first week of the game, laughable. I’m even growing tired of squad battles quickly, they made matches shorter but turned up the difficulty and sweatiness 3x. At this point I haven’t even touched on the meta, the 71 press, the cutbacks or the embarrassingly terrible new gen engine. 0/10 Tom Caleffi you are the weakest link goodbye!

@10:28 - honestly its the only thing some people CAN do this year. Either join them or suffer. This game is 1 dimensional. You said it best. There's honestly nothing else you can do but fall in line, quit the game or change game modes and put on the clown face but regardless you are going to abandon your true nature. FIFA 20-23 already had us training to do so, but this year is really another level.

Nick, I’ve been playing fifa religiously since Fifa 12. I buy it every year, I put tons of time and effort into my account. I’ve been watching almost every fifa content creator since y’all came about. I’ve always been all about fifa and all for it every year, gaming wise. I pre ordered EA FC the day we could pre order it and I was very hyped for something new and exciting, I was genuinely looking forward to a breath of fresh air but still having that fifa aura. I was so disappointed with this game , wether it be gameplay or menus or content. Whenever fifa got bad, I always still played through it because of the love I’ve always had for the game. I ended up deleting the game. I tossed $80 down the drain. It’s been a few weeks now and I will tell you now I am so happy I did it. All my focus gaming wise at the moment is MW3. It just feels so good to be away from that game and enjoy something else for once. I don’t know if I will return to EA FC to be honest with you.

I'm glad I found my own way to defend cutbacks and I'm willing to share it to everyone (you guys can too) so that it becomes less meta overall and so we can force the people to be more creative. Okay so my way to defend it, that works around 9/10 times, is as soon as your opponent runs towards the line, select the cb that is on the same side and try to block the passing lane with him manually and while doing that, hold R1 so that your lb (or rb depending on the side) presses your opponent such that he runs out of options and loses the ball. This is by far the best way I've found to defend it and since then I almost never conceded goals, where I felt that I knew every step of my opponent but still couldn't do anything against it

I barely play this year and took a 2 year break up until last year but the one thing I hate is why they removed red picks. That was literally my reason for playing champs to maybe get lucky and pack a sick red so people would be scared to play me 😂

I think what would would make a massive difference to this games enjoyment is the following: 1. Fix 71 depth (its basically constant pressure without the drawbacks) 2. Change the linearity of the defensive stats so that attackers have way less ability to tackle effectively because at the moment Griezmann and Salah can win the ball as easily as cb's. 3. Reduce the chances of non controlled players making tackles for you (force manual defending) 4. Stop automatic drop back (all 8/9 of your defense and midfielders sitting in the box as soon as you lose the ball). Imo just those changes would DRAMATICALLY improve the gameplay and make it so much more enjoyable while also increasing the skill gap.

FIFA 19 was crazy but still more fun than FC 24 and I feel like there is to many promos which also kill the game early as everyone gets a good team straight away the fun was building a team and it actually being hard to get a good team IMO

as a very casual player, having grinded in the beginning and intermittently playing, it feels fun. couldn’t imagine playing everyday though, you guys are soldiers!

The coolest thing about Fifa was always to win with a cool fun team and score like 5 goals without your opponent always rage quit because my opponent also wants just to try out his fun team.

None of my friends play direct passing or cut backs. There are ways to score through the middle but it requires you to let loose on being countered , which is what people don’t want. You can’t eat your cake and have it too

The main problems are 71 depth and the defending I agree on that. I remember playing fifa 20 quite a lot and in that game if someone run past my midfiled they were gone, all I had was the defenders. Right now the best way to defend is to run from his box to your box with your cms/cdms and push your defenders into your own goal and let the AI do the work

i noticed this last night while i was finishing champs but i think what i came to hate the most about this game is they have basically taken out any creativity in this game. you cant do anything even remotely fun to score or build up its so sickening. as nick said the comment about the cool memorable goals from old fifas it reminded me of how i was thinkin this last night

The thing that pisses me off the most is that no one i am playing against wants to think about what they are doing. the only thing they are thinking about is running down the line. as soon as they are in the right spot they are just either blindly passing or crossing it into the middle hoping it gets to any of their players. 90% of the time that shit works because the passes get corrected from the game. every single player could be marked and the pass still gets through.

As a casual, the back-cuts and recovery balls are what frustrate me the most. Maybe the defense is too generous but I’d rather have that than an offensive meta, coming from a NBA2k player

I played FUT 12-16 and it's always been so much fun. YES there always was a META and there was annoying mechanics. I skipped FUT 17-19 so I had my first experience of FUT Champs, Rivals, SBCs (basically the whole game mode redesign since FUT 17). I've always been a very good player (always Division 1 in Seasons back then, 16 wins minimum in FUT Champs). Safe to say I was shocked when I returned for FUT 20 of the changes in gameplay and how the average player played against me. We went from an offensive-minded meta gameplay in FUT 12-16 with variable styles being played (crossing, quick passing through the middle, skill moves or a beautiful mix of all that) to a defensive-minded sweat fest in FUT 20 and onwards that rewarded absolute and shameless mechanic abusing to counter that. F.e. remember FIFA 20 drag backs like hell to counter 4231 drop back, 1 depth/width meta and after that it went to basically runing down the line cut backs since then (I liked FIFA 21 the best from the last few since it was more offensively minded than the rest but still far away from good). I played the FC Pro Cup today and it was an 8 match bloodbath of my opponents shamelessly abusing 4 things: 71+ depth, Finesse+, cut backs and whipped cross+ with the new Bacha card. I'm in Div1 Rivals and since SBMM is a thing in Friendlies (just let that sink in SBMM in Freindlies lmao) I'm waware of what I'm going up against. Sweats that don't care about playing football that are just fine with abusing every flawed mechnanic to win in this game. Can you blame them? Yes and No i guess, in the top divisions its sad´ly just the name of the game for like 95% of the players. You stand at kick off and see the attack of Griezmann, Son, Salah and Dalglish and you already know you will concede at least 1 or 2 Finesse+ from 30 meters out. Can't really prevent it against top level players. Pull a defender out of position to prevent the Finesse+ and he will pass it in the space behind, cutback and score. Its really sad what happende to this game in the last 4 years when you are a veteran of FIFA... everyone plays the same, with the same players. Playstyled may be a good idea but holy crap there are some playstyles that are just awfully OP and others that just dont make any sense. Examples: Why do I need Anticipate+ to constantly get the ball after a I made a successful tackle? Shouldn't this be rather the norm in after most tackles? Finesse+ is so broken... Opponents could run 2v2 at my goal and would prefer the Finesse+ with Son from 30m out because it has a better chance to go in. Whipped Cross+ OMG this Bacha SBC might change the meta slightly because the crosses honestly feel like you are playing FIFA street combined with ever crossing assistance turned on its laughable. They really need to fasten up the game again, make the defensive AI not sit back deep automatically in 'halfcourt offense'. Find a solution to the 71+ depth/pressure either by buffing the movement and ball playing abilities of offensive AI when under pressure or nerf the pressure (increasing the stamina drain for pressing is only a hot fix, not a general one). Adjust the balance of some of the playstyle+. Will all this happen in EAFC 24? No. It's EA they will bring some new store content

I’m normally fully invested all year round… this year I deleted my team before the end of October. It’s not even necessarily the cut-back only gameplay, the actual core fundamental mechanics (tackling, passing, taking a touch etc) are so unbelievably bad. It feels unnatural.

The latest patch brought back “wiggling” with the bumpers like last year. Tackling them is impossible and you just have to wait until they either mess up or wiggle through you to a goal. So annoying

There needs to be a negative to the cutback etc. With any meta there should be a risk factored in. Example, if you play possession and pass the ball at the half way line with your team, you are very susceptible to counters.
