It's always the Dads that make sure the youngest is fed. I think that is why when something happens to the dads the youngest usually dies. I've watched a lot of nest cameras and the Dads are the best for providing to all the babies.
I tend to agree. Dads often pick up the slack to ensure survival of their offspring since moms usually like to do most of the feedings and practice “first come, first served” policy. And since many eagle ladies are quite bossy, it’s especially nice to see the dads stepping up and not shying away from the feeding duties.
Such is the eaglets’ life🤷🏻♀️ One is always older and very often - the dominant one. But they both grew up nicely and hopefully are soaring the sky somewhere❤️😇
It always distresses me to see older/dominant baby pick on the younger, compiunder by mama feeding only her first-born 😢 So glad dad came and fed his youngest baby! Maybe he was bulkued as a baby too. All isvwell now❤
Yes, Eagle Country have not only provided several cameras with different views, but the operators often do tremendous work by zooming in and out and rotating cameras❤️ It’s an absolute joy to watch!😍
Wow looks like we have a mean lil eaglet here. Hope that Moma and Dad are bring in enough food for the eaglets. These two have grown alot they or just so dang adorable 😍.
@@karendegeyter2937 Yes, the oldest sibling Fern can get quite bossy, but Thunder has grown a lot getting bigger and smarter 😇 They have wonderful parents who bring enough food and even do tandem feedings to make sure both eaglets are fed sufficiently😍
I'd fight back instead of admitting defeat.. The one trying to stop his/her sibling from eating was quite irritating😖 poor baby just staying low while being totally avoided by mom. Great video 👌🏼👌🏼
The oldest eaglet usually shows this kind of dominance, and parents never intervene in these squabbles. For the parent, it is usually about who gets to the food first, and the youngest just needs to learn his/her clever ways 😇 Since then Thunder has definitely mastered how to get his/her share🤩Now both are thriving and actually being quite friendly💞
@@HUNTERHUNTER806 Yes, it certainly seems unfair to us, humans, but eagles do not know any other way😆 All has been forgiven though, and now the strong and healthy siblings have gone on their adventures flying off into the adult life💗
These Eaglets make themselves understood with gesturer!! The older brother says to the little one!! L'm warning you don't come near, the food it's all mine!! 😊
No worries, that’s just the way young eagles grow up usually😅 Thunder acquired some very useful survival skills that will come in handy for thriving in the wild 😇❤️ Both have grown up now and tolerate each other quite well enjoying some healthy competition🤩
Yes, these parents are very mindful. They even do tandem feedings to make sure both eaglets get enough ♥️ I remain cautious, but there have been some positive changes in the Dale Hollow Nest - River has been feeding the oldest eaglet full to the brim and the agression has subsided. The little one even had a full crop 😍 Hope it stays that way🙏
@@melmasi5098 No worries! 🤗 Fortunately, food is quite plentiful here, and both eaglets are thriving❤️ It’s just that the Dale Hollow nest has been on our minds these last days.
@@sassabird2507 Thanks for reassuring response. I'm so glad there's plenty of food there; the only baby eaglet I saw die (or rather started to see, then I read updates only) was in a location with really sparse food, a first time mother eagle and her mate who disappeared, injured I think it turned out. A tragedy. I had meant to write "that nest" but inadvertently said "this nest." It's a relief knowing this nest is doing very well. I fervently hope Dale Hollow circumstances continue to improve. 🙂
@@melmasi5098 I always remind myself not to get too comfortable, but so far Eagle Country’s BE family has been doing so well. A kind of an exemplary family❤️🦅Yes, hoping for the best in the DH nest from the bottom of my heart too🤞🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for your kindness 🤗 My greatest thanks go to the Eagle Country’s wonderful cam operators for giving us these beautiful viewing possibilities🤩
Its so sad to see this happening but with birds like these only the strong survive. Thats why they usually have 2 chicks. Super sad but true. Ty for sharing the video.
It’s definitely hard to watch, but happening in many BE nests. I always try to look at the bright side - if the youngest survives, he/she will be surely even better prepared for life in the wild 😇 All is good now - two beautiful, strong youngsters ❤️ Still competing for food, but on a much more equal level😁 Ty for watching!🤗
I guess, they had faith in the strong eaglets and their caring parents♥️😄 Yes, I know of the beautiful and large family of Thunder and Akecheta - also amazing parents, who have really learned from their previous experiences😇
Well, armadillos have furry bodies, so at least a part of it looks like armadillo, but there have been squirrels, opossums, etc. on their menu. Cannot say for sure, sorry. Looking at preys is rarely easy 😳😖
Well, I think it's an inherent part of eagles' upbringing - the older one always tries to dominate his/her younger sibling 😅 But with no significant size difference, now these are just normal sibling squabbles😁
wow the expressions on the lil guys face are night and day from being bonked and probably feeling neglected to content and crop bulging,...bravo posters 👏👏👏(๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)
These two are so cute 😍. Moma and Dad need to get more food to the nest look like one eaglet is being mean. I know it nature but it dont make it easy to watch. Love me some eagles.
🤗♥️ they are the cutest! Both are thriving, and the agression has significantly diminished. Now these interactions just look like cute sibling squabbles😁
I think, siblicide is more common among eagles. And mostly it is caused by lack of food. There was one a bit scary moment in March whith a longer interval between feedings due to bad weather. The older eaglet got the most agressive he/she had been, but all was resolved as soon as the food came 😇 Thankfully, food has been plentiful here. All in all, I would say that the level of sibling agression was nowhere near as high as I have seen in many other bald eagle nests 😅
Sorry, if the video caused you any kind of distress😳 It is an armadillo. Despite it's armour, armadillo is on the list of BE preys. I saw it on Harriet's and M15's nest too.
The older eaglet very often tries to dominate over its younger siblings. Such behaviour is very common 😉 But if there's plenty of food, this behaviour diminishes 😇 Both of them get very well fed♥️
Thunder has grown so much smarter and braver these last weeks 😍 And it really helps to have such caring and diligent parents who make sure none of their babies go hungry for too long 💞 I think, they are well on their way to become strong fledglings😇
Why do they submit and don't they fight back? I've seen them kill the smaller birds that seem to have only been born to give the older ones something to kill. These are the same size, why the submission?
Well, this is how it usually goes among bald eagle nestlings…One of them, mostly the older one and especially if it’s a female, exerts dominance over the younger ones. It sure looks tough and can be distressing, but there’s one certain good thing coming out of it - the youngest eaglets usually obtain very good survival skills which serve them well in later years 😇 Both Fern and Thunder thrived and fledged ❤️ For example, among raptors like Lesser Spotted Eagles, the oldest almost always will kill it’s younger sibling, it’s just how it is in the wild. Sorry for taking so long to respond, taking a break from my YT channel. Anyway, it’s good that the choice is left with us - we can take a break from livestreams whenever they become too much emotionally 😇
Yes, they both made it growing into beautiful, strong young eagles😇 They were around for a while co-existing in quite a friendly way, but still engaging in healthy competition over food whenever parents brought something 😁 Hope, they are still well and soaring in the sky somewhere ❤️
@@bplayerr1 My pleasure! I really love Eagle Country's Abby & Blazer. The bad news are though that the crazy storm in Florida took down the nest tree and three of EC's cameras - I think there will be no live stream this season😔
@@bplayerr1 I am so sorry, it was devastating for many, also the wildlife😢 There are no words. But in regard to this couple - EC reported on FB that they have seen one of them, hopefully the other one shows up soon 🤞🏻
This is just how it is with eaglets - the oldest usually dominates and wants to eat first. But even if it may look bad sometimes, no worries, they both get fed sufficiently😉Sibling rivalry is a very normal occurence among predatory birds, especially eagles😉🦅
