I've been watching your vlogs for awhile and I have to say your channel is my favorite teacher channel. I teach middle school, but I love the ideas and I like how you show the real balance of teaching while having a family.

I do enjoy modern classrooms! I mainly taught in classrooms with bulky document cameras which we nicknamed fishes because they were so slow and stupid at times! My days of lesson planning were with a white leather book my coordinator gave me in 1965 when I was almost finished college! That beautiful white leather lesson planning and grading book never got a spot of dirt or stains on it and I've been using it since 1965 BUT the new modern hippy school systems like using electriconic grading systems which are confusing and scary to work with considering they can malfunction or possibly get breached! It's outrageous so I'll always prefer my little leather grading book. I also taught at the same school since 1976 when it opened up to the public! I'm in almost every year book because for one or two of those years I volunteered to teach at clear spring Junior High/Middle school due to them being low on staff members.

It's hard to believe I graduated in 1970 and started teaching in 1974 and taught my first class at the newly built Western Heights Middle school during the "Education revolution" in 1976 and since the school was brand new they wanted to bring a brand new school staff with all new teachers and administrators! I was the first female principal at the school in 1981 and I didn't enjoy that too much so I went back to teaching a class of 41 students and four class periods and one of those being my planning block! I was teaching during the days lockdowns weren't needed instead we did bomb drills try to beat that twenty-first century!

Hi Bridget! Just want to say hello and that I love your channel. I'm from Kentucky and currently in college to become an elementary school teacher, and keeping up with your videos makes me so excited for the day when I'll have my own classroom and students. I'm only a sophomore at my university right now and I feel like there's so much about teaching that I don't yet understand, and it honestly makes me anxious sometimes, but I love watching your vlogs and learning from all the life experience you share as a teacher. It's so encouraging and inspiring to me to hear your stories - especially those about the little things that happen day to day - because they help me to realize the kind of teacher I want to be. You've sorta been like a virtual teacher mentor to me since I first found your videos :) and I can't thank you enough for that. Much love, and I hope you're having a wonderful Christmas season!!

I find but so interesting to hear about schools in other parts of the country that will close early for a few inches of snow. In Minnesota where I live we would need at half a foot with high winds to close school. By the way I really like your Burger paragraph model!

I love using binders also! I'm a junior elementary education major, so I've already started making binders of lessons that I will use when I start student teaching and teaching in my own class someday. So the pain on your heel could be plantar fasciitis, I have it in my heel and the more I walk on it without supportive shoes, the worse it feels. My doctor gives exercises to help and a anti-inflammatory medicine can help with quick relief. Good luck ! Thanks for the video, it was great!

Dawn Marie that’s smart that you are already making resource binders. I wish I had don’t that in my student teaching 🤦🏼‍♀️

Dawn Marie yes, I also suffer from plantar fasciitis, and feel that Bridget may also. If so, Bridget needs to do some stretching exercises and wear proper shoes with support.

Bridget, check out bone spurs and/or plantar fasciitis for your pain. They are quite common and there are things you can do to help with the pain.

Binders is an awesome way to organize. I too don't like file system(it doesn't work for me). I totally agree about having a 2 hour delay. We had horrible weather and all the areas except my district called it. I do not drive in bad weather and my amazing husband drove me in so it made the day more stress-free. Merry Christmas

Awesome teacher vlog videos. I love all the videos. What time do you get to work? What time does the students start? What time dose student school day end? What time do you go home?
@BridgingLiteracy

Thank you so much! I am an early bird. I like to get to work at about 6:45. Teachers must be there by 8:00. Students arrive at 8:45 and the bell rings at 9:00. Announcements go on at 3:30 and we begin dismissing at 3:40. Most days I leave by 4:30 and I spend one day at school each week as a late day where I will stay until 6:30.

Ashley Haskins I get to work early as well, usually 6:45. Seems crazy but you get so much work done and don’t have to stay after when you’re tired and (possibly) less productive.

Hi Bridgette! Love your videos! I was wondering...for your whiteboard table, do you think you could repair the holes with a bit of filler and a porcelain repair kit? You know, the stuff you use to repair nicks on tubs and stove tops? Just an idea...
