He had some good guests. On one show he had 3 year old Tiger Woods, Jimmy Stewart and Bob Hope on the same show. Also John Lennon and Yoko appeared on the show.
One of the most diverse variety shows ever. Diverse in every way - not just the obvious. The daily guest roster ran the gamut. You had to be a student to even be aware of a variety show that comes on weekday afternoons with guests that ran the gamut, as did Mike Douglas. Syndicated local daily strip from Philly. And Mike was a cool host who was comfortable with everyone.
For laughs, yes, he was the greatest stand-up. For intelligent, hard-hitting social and philosophical material, the greatest ever was George Carlin. Take a look at him if you don't believe me.
I was so lucky to see him at Caesars Palace in the mid 90's. His show had hundreds or rapid fire one liners. A true legend. I regret that I didn't buy an autographed tie for $75.
I was about 13 when Rodney did this bit. I recall seeing him on TV back then, getting my first taste of grown up humor and becoming a lifelong fan of his. A true legend.👍
He's on mine, definitely. Norm, Bill Cosby (yes, I know he is a disgusting creep, but that doesn't take away his comedic genius), Rodney, and probably Steven Wright. But yours is solid.
Rodney. A Legendary Comedian that didn't really get too much recognition until he was like 50(47 here), some guys think it's over when they haven't even begun to hit their stride, so it's good to stick around and see what happens.
I was just missing him Robin Williams and George carlin. We don’t have anything like that anymore. Just saying. Just glad I got to watch them over the years. I still get to watch Craig Ferguson .sometimes..he’s still around. Great comedian also. Wish he was still on late night. Maybe take Jimmy Fallon’s place or something. Ferguson was better than anybody that was home at the time. And I’m not the only one that feels that way. CBS screwed up. Like the morons they are. Oh well Their loss.
I always thought Rodney Dangerfield was one of the best comedians out there. He and Don Rickles were so funny that when you heard that either one was going to be a guest on Johnny Carson's Tonight Show you knew you were in store for a lot of laughs.
I never got to see or here Rodney Dangerfield much at all so i am glad i found his videos it amazes me me how he can keep from busting out laughing when he tells his one liners 😂
I get no respect. I mean my whole life, I don't get no respect at all... My dog makes me feel like I'm dirty. He jumps in my bed and then smells it for 10 minutes before he lays down. 🤭
I'll tell I was in rough shape last week but I'm alright now. My kids, NO RESPECT, I sez to my boy someday you'll have kids of your own. He said So will You, someday.🤪😁👌

After over half a Century, listening to him in 2022, his comedy never ceases to make me laugh! He allows me to remember when the World seemed to be a simpler place!
