so I contacted Jose a few months ago and he said I could qualify even though I haven't been there between 2011-22. I'm on my way in a few days:) no turning back now:) so I guess I will just have to make it work bc I have nothing to go back to. Nada...I am 70 and on social security. I will be contacting Jose again after I get there to see what to do next:) I'm nervous but not too much. Very excited. I have a new country and I already love it:)

@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 6 месяцев назад
Glad you found the information useful! Actually this is the latest update. We made this video soon after the new rules for 2024 were announced. So everything in this video is current. I don't really talk much about financial solvency on this channel because most people do not qualify for residency through those means. We like to talk about all the other paths one can take to get residency in Mexico. Right now the RNE program is the most popular option for many new immigrants to Mexico. As we stated in the video most people go down the RNE route after various rejections at Mexican Consulates. The RNE program basically only requires you to live in Mexico and as we explained will most likely always be renewed and even if it isn't there is another law in the books which is basically the RNE program but is only availble every 2 years or so. So either way the video is as current as can be for the foreseeable future. The new update doesn't come along until around the 3rd Quarter of each year.

You can get your residency through the RNE program if you have been to Mexico before. Again as we mentioned in the video there are multiple ways to obtain residency. You can apply at a Consulate and get your residency through retirement or through financial solvency. But if either do not work out for you then you have other options such as the RNE program.

THANK YOU for this..There's SO much misinformation and y'all have cleared up most of it. I'm retired, collecting Social Security, and selling my Tucson home which will net $260,000-$275,000, which I plan to put into 1-year CDs - in Mexico. Do I get an FMM card crossing at Nogales? What is the tax rate to register my vehicle? How will I apply for residency?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 7 месяцев назад
Great questions! When you cross into Mexico Make sure your passport is stamped, not sure if they are still handing out FMMs. I have no idea what the tax rate is, you need to google that. As for residency it is explained in the video. Best and most recommended way to apply is through the RNE program, but there are many other ways. You need to figure out what is best for you and your situation. Glad to hear the video was so helpful! Saludos!

Hi, super content! How does one flip the 4 year residency into a permanent residence?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 4 часа назад
It is actually just automatic. When you go to immigration to renew your Temporary Residency they will say No and prompt you to get your Permanent Residency. Simply put after living in Mexico with a Temporary Residency for 4 years, that automatically qualifies you for you to get your Permanent Residency. and after 5 years of being in Mexico you can get your Mexican Citizenship and Passport.

How would the Mexican immigration system know that a person on FMN returned before or after expiration if you returned to the US through the border? My understanding is that people return home without having passports checked by Mexican immigration. A person who has overstayed a long time should apply for RNE or should go to immigration to pay the fine and be prepared to be asked to leave Mexico?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels Месяц назад
Anyone who crossed through a border is in the system. If you left Mexico without going through Immigration you are still in the system. Not quite sure how to rectify something like that, but in Mexico there is always a solution. My advice is to contact a profesional like Jose Novelo for more information on what to do next

@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels Месяц назад
Very easy since they both qualify for residency through Family Structure. I don't know the exact requirements you can find them online. But you need a copy of your marriage certificate Apostiled and i think the birth certificate of your son Apostiled and some other requirements, but its easy to do at your local Immigration office once you arrive. They can enter with FMM Tourist Visas and since you speak Spanish you can do it all yourself. If you need help you can just hire a facilitator but i did it myself when i Married Christian and it was very easy. Getting the paperwork you need is the hardest part! lol Good luck with everything!

This is great information.Thank you but I do have a question. I'm currently living in the US and have visited Mexico since the late 1980's and through the timeframe the program requires. From what I've read about the RNE is that one has to be in Mexico to apply to this program and have an expired FMN card. I don't have an FMN card and as stated still living in the US (still working not retired). So I am in a bit of a quandary as how to go about applying through this program. Please advise. Thank you.
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels Месяц назад
Yes you have to be in Mexico because it is done at the local immigration office. As for expired FMM. An FMM is the visa you get when you enter Mexico, often times referred to as a "tourist visa" you can get that visa for 1 day or 180 days or anywhere in between. So what most people do that want to go through the program is only ask for a few days on your visa, so that once it expires you can go to immigration and get your 4 year Temporary Residency through the RNE program. My advice to you is to contact Jose Novelo directly and he will be more than happy to guide you through the whole process. Good luck with everything!

I can now update, and say that, thanks to this video, I and my husband are now Temporary Residents! We contacted Jose Novelo after watching this five months ago, travelled to Merida a few weeks ago, and completed the process! I can't recommend Jose N. enough - he was just fantastic! He did all the paperwork for us, arranged our driver to take us to the Belize border to cancel our 180 day visa and get a 2-day visa, and a facilitator to be there for us to make sure it happened. He arranged our trip to the INM office in Progresso two days later, to complete the paperwork and get our cards. It took only four days from our first meeting with him in Merida, to having the cards in our hands in Progreso. All we needed to provide him in advance, as regards paperwork, were our marriage certificate apostilled and translated, and a photocopy of the 2022 entry stamp in our passports. That was it - no financials, nothing. I'd highly recommend contacting him. He was great.

Getting a TIP for your car while you are on your FMM or Temporary visa is one thing and Importing your car when you are a Permanent Resident is something else. Both are very different. Information on obtaining your TIP "Temporary Import Visa" can be readily found online. As for car importation thats when things get dicey because as mentioned in the video the Blue Book value is used to determine the price and that changes every year. This is why if you do decide to import your vehicle it is recommended you hire an expert to help you with such a major undertaking.

Then I will leave Mexico and will go to another country. Then I will come back to Mexico in the end of 2024, and then, I will stay in Mexico for 180 days again. The question is: can I then apply for a RNE Residency Program in Mexico in 2025?

Hi Jose, i visited Mexico for the first time just this year (2024) in February. If/when Mexico renews the RNE program for 2025, would i be eligible for the program then, because of my visit a year prior? Still a bit confused about that part. I know you'd have been eligible in 2024 if you've been to Mexico by, or before January 2022. But will the limit still be 2022 in 2025? And then, would my expired FMM be enough even though i only stayed a week? Or would i need to visit again and wait out another FMM? Thank you!!
@JoseArteagaTravels

From my understanding you will be able to qualify next year once the RNE program is extended. If not next year then in 2026 for sure. But I am not the expert on this subject. Jose Novelo is the expert. It doesnt make much sense though. And if you reenter now you will be on a new FMM. You still have to wait for it to expire. And it doesnt help if you were previously on a Temp visa.
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 6 месяцев назад
You can get your FMM for as many days as you'd like 1 or 180 so just plan accordingly and you can have an expired FMM sooner than you think. Also if you already have a Temporary Visa you can just renew it or upgrade to a Permanent Visa. If it has been too long since it has expired you can just apply for the temporary again. It's really not that complicated. Hope that information helps!

Yes you should still be eligible. You are in the system. What they are actually looking for is the stamp on your passport. The expired FMM is the one you will have with you next time you come to Mexico. You have to wait until it expires before you can apply. With that said dont wait till the last minute make sure you get all your ducks in a row before it actually expires! Hope that helps clear it up!

You need to be in Mexico in order to go through the RNE Program. Everything is explained in detail in the video. Once you are in Merida Yucatan and are ready to proceed he can help you out. Please understand he is a very busy individual and he is here to help people out with the process once they are ready to proceed. His concentration of expertise is Real Estate, Mexican Taxes, and Business Law. He also offers immigration services but that is not the only thing he does. Perhaps he hasn't gotten to your email or perhaps you might be asking him something that was already answered in the video or perhaps there is nothing he can do to help you. There are many reasons why he might not have answered your email. From what what you are saying in your comment it seems you already qualify for the program and therefore can get it done at any INM office in Mexico. He is only able to help you if you are in the region of the Yucatan Peninsula not if you are in another country. Hope all that helps answer why he might have not responded in a timely manner. Thank you for understanding.

This is hard to understand the way you're saying it. What I want to know is if you are 65 and over, that if you come there for your 180 days, get your paperwork in order, and then go to the immigration office inside Mexico, can you get your residency with any income as long as it's something like Social Security?
@JoseArteagaTravels
@JoseArteagaTravels 10 месяцев назад
If you want to get Residency through retirement it has to be at a Consulate. If you want to get your residency in Mexico through an immigration office it has to be through the RNE Program. If you go through a Consulate you need to provide proof of income and it is at their discretion what they think is enough. Each Consulate is different and each employee is different. If you obtain Residency through the RNE program in Mexico then all you need to provide is a stamp on your passport from 2011-2022, an expired FMM Visa, Your Passport fill out paperwork and pay fees and you got Residency without providing any financial solvency. Hope this makes sense.

Jose, could you just clarify two more things, please? You wrote "a stamp on your passport from 2011-2022, an expired FMM Visa,". What is the difference between a stamp in your passport (which I have) and an expired FMM, which I DON'T have, because I assume it's the form you had to fill out on the plane up to 2022, and which you hand back on leaving Mexico. If that's the case, how would you have possession of it? Also, another point - do you have to have overstayed your visa, or just simply be a visitor who left within the time specified, like the 180 days? I can't determine whether that's the case or not. Thanks again, if you wouldn't mind answering! @@JoseArteagaTravels

You need a stamp on your passport and an Expired FMM. The only way for you to have an expired FMM is for you to have Never left Mexico..... so if you dont have one then you need one.
