Easiest Way to Install a Recoil Starter Spring 

I tried to recoil one all day this past Saturday. I finally gave up after wearing out my fingers and bought a new one. I don’t think I’d ever seen how they come new, but this one had a wire around it and it allowed me to drop it in and get it all set before cutting the wire. It entered my mind to try a drill, but I couldn’t picture how to attach it to something with a nail until I saw this. Great video!

Yeah I was winding it by hand I got it wound up twice, only to have it pop out at the end. It was the same spring housing that you showed. Very tricky to do. I will try your method. Thanks

Look at your kids on ATVs!! Love it! I just love seeing fellow, like minded parents where we let our kids go on ATVs and have fun playing outside! And teaching them how to fix things too. Beautiful!
