amazing smart material, im just starting substance so this looks like magic to me lmao. how does the 'height level' channel know to only affect the sticker application layer?
I am having issues with paper and glue. When I paint it just looks like a mess. I can’t get that nice left over sticker tear like in the video. Anyone have this issue or know how to solve it?
@tiedie i love this smart material ive used it on a few projects...but im currently working on one and i noticed a weird white spot show up on my object...i thought it was my mesh but when i removed the sticker creator it disappears so im not entirely sure whats going on here im hoping maybe you can help me.
Hey Dylan, kinda late here and getting back into Substance so might be a newb issue :P But when I add the sticker creator its named Sticker creator - empty and Im using version 9.0! No matter what I try I cant seem to get the sticker to show up and properly attach itself to all the parameters! Are you aware of any fixes? Much love
Is it possible to use the sticker image so that it’s position/ scale can be adjusted later? As opposed to being at the exact spot you clicked in the paint layer?
Hi there! Thanks for your tutorial and job you did in order to release this wonderful sticker generator. I bought it on gum road, but can’t figure out how to export ONLY stickers so I can load them on my mesh in blender..? Or may be I am wrong but once I import them into shader editor - I can see this gray mesh layer where the stickers are applied but how to make this gray transparent let’s say. thanks
FOR EVERYONE STRUGGLING WITH REI FROM EVANGELION HERE'S THE SOLUTION: The problem actualy came from the "Sticker Application" Layer, because, somehow it's still filled while it should be totaly blank. So here's the trick: 1. Create a New Paint Layer. 2. Selected the effects of the Paint Layer from the "Sticker Application" layer. Then move them on the new Paint Layer you've just created (DO NOT copy/paste, it'll destroy the link with the others layers that allows you to have Heigh, Glue, Paper and Foil, just select and drop them on the Layer Icon). 3. Right Clic on your new Paint Layer > Add a White Mask. 4. Clic on the White Mask from the "Sticker Application" layer. Select the effects and repeat the process from Step 2 but for the White Mask (drop the effects in the white Mask) 5. You can now remove the "empty" "Sticker Application" layer and use the Layer you've just created as it is. Enjoy :)
@@maxime1189 glad thats the case :) that said, it shouldnt have this issue baked in. I didnt realizse how many people had this pop up so i need to make sure I take care of it. Its a small (and pretty funny) issue, but shouldnt be there xD I appreciate the help
Great asset. Just grabbed it from your GR. The only thing is the lagging when painting the wear in 4K. From the res in your vid it looks like you're in 4K too and yours is very smooth. I'm on a 3090ti so wasn't expecting any lag at all. Also, I'm not getting the raised peeling effect at the wear edges, as seen in your vid. One other difference I noticed is that in your vid the paper is revealed as soon as you paint wear, but on mine you have to paint in quite a bit before paper is revealed. Glue starts right away. Went through all the paper settings/mask paint but no luck. Thanks for releasing this.👍
thanks :) yes the anchor points can be quite taxing on a system so if you have lots of layers going on it doesnt suprise me that lag could happen. might be worth lowering the resolution when doing this part. as for the height, depending on the resolution and scale of the sticker it might need to be adjusted. there should be a layer labled height you can crank up to solve this issue.
@@tiedie Thanks, yes the lag issue was more curiosity on why yours looked so smooth in the vid at high res vs my lag at 4k(especially with me being on a 3090ti😁)? I was just testing on a sphere with a single layer material applied.
Does this require a minimum version of Painter? I use Substance Painter 2021.1.1 (7.1.1) and I'm unable to import the .spsm. It says "an error occurred while opening this resource. it can't be imported." I bought both versions and the earlier sticker material imported fine.
So I opened my project with the PBR (alpha blend) shader settings and when I use the sticker creator the image comes out just looking flat, the foil doesnt work and none of the depth stuff is working, does it only work in select settings?
okay so there are many things that could be happening: Are your UVs good? What is your project resolution? Depending on the resolution it may look more or less offset from the surface. Did you stamp your image on the same layer as what was shown in the video? What version of painter are you using? I recommend testing on a cube or default painter scene. If you can get it working there and not your model, it may have to do with your set up. otherwise we can look further into it
Any tips for when there is normal/height noise on the material below? When I apply the stickers on top of a painted metal for example, the noise from that material makes its way through the stickers.
Good question. I left it so that some of the surface came through, but if you don't want any you can go to the layer that adjusts the height and change the height blend mode and opacity. That should help with things :)
This probably has to do with the height and paper/glue layer scales. I'd recommend adjusting these to match your resoltion. 8k is very high, things will have to be adjusted for sure
Not worth the purchase... I'm beyond frustrated that it worked once partially but now not at all. Plus, some of the names for things within the layers aren't even the same as what he says in this video, which is the same video you get as a download when purchasing Sticker Creator 2.
Hi @Tiedie, are you still supporting this? When I add wear, it looks nothing like your video at all and looks really messy, like thick glue and no paper.
@@3TQHAJSHNQ a lot of this has to do with your UVs, and scene resolution. When applying this to a normal plane or cube in painter do you get the same results?
@@tiedie I just exported the default cube from blender, created a new project in 4k with it, baked maps, applied the same sticker (2k resolution) and have the same problem. It still is glooby and doesnt look like your result in the video. I'm following all the steps in your video.
Interesting. There shouldnt be anything loaded in by default, but as you see me do in the video you need to change the alpha and base colour of your brush before stamping on the sticker
@@CGkipilka I added a new version to the page. I double check all the layers and didnt see her in there so this one should fix things. its the 1.01 version :)
interesting, my first thought is to look into your UVs. Are they laid out evenly? To double check, try using the sticker on just a simple plane, this should show if the issue is on the material itself or the asset.
I've watched this vid and purchased the preset. However, when I stamp my texture it comes in REALLY small, and then arbitrarily resies to larger than I need etc. I basically have no control over placement... Frustrationg as I watched the turoril and knew I needed this smart material but so far just cannot get it to work. Stickers in SP is so convoluted for what feels liek a real simple task...
Thats odd, sorry to hear that. Sounds like an issue with your brush. If you go to the brush menu and chose something basic like the hard circle and than go from there that should take care of things. Anything in the brush setting that adds in randomness will cause something like this so double check there
Correction - I discovered my minimum brush size was default low, and making it 100% gae me the correct proportions. I also realised I must make my asset either 2048 or 4096px squre so the proportions were correct - I was getting very narrow stamps. Now these issues are fixed it's become apparent what a great tool this is! thanks for your hard work and effort and mostly for sharing.
@@tiedie Thanks for the prompt reply! I figured it out though. I didn't catch where you switched to the Mask section. On a related note, is there anyway to make the paper coverage underneath larger? I'm getting a lot of empty space between the edge of the sticker and the start of the paper underneath.
@@dalerose4958 its been awhile since i've used this but there should be. There may be a bevel layer in the maskl somewhere that controls the width of that. Its in there i just cant remember off the top of my head what layer 😅
i juste purchase your smart material and... IT DOES'T WORKS, i can't open it on substance, the file's name is "Empty" wtf ! if you have any tips, i'm so desapointed...
@@tiedie thank you for your answer, I bought it on gumroad (I followed the link). I already used a cracked version of substance (subtance edition 2021 I gess) :') . I drag and drop the file on my window of substance, I retry to put the file in my substance document (doc/substance/asset/smartmaterials).
@@Sorcier3269 try dragging into your smart material shelf in substance painter. If that doesnt work im affraid your version might just be out of date. This was made in 2022 so that might be it
Just got the tool. It looks like it’s gonna be great however I do have one question. When I throw it into my project it preloads with an evangelion sticker that I can’t seem to get rid of no matter what I do. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
@@tiedie So I had to go through each individual mask and paint out the issue. I did try using it on a second project and I had the same issue. Not really sure what could be causing it. I should also add that I'm pretty new at Substance Painter itself so maybe the error is something on my part. Thanks for the quick reply though! I'll let you know if I find a way to fix it in its entirety.
@@lorenzofernandes2976 I did use a rei plush graphic to test things but that isnt in any layers when I check it on my end. Maybe it snuck its way onto something with similar UVs to yours? Kinda of funny, but if thats the case sorry you had to deal that that
