Are any of us really surprised that the producer who killed off Pat is the same producer behind the Baby Swap shambles? I’d love to have seen some scenes with Pat and Kathy in recent years
There’s flaws to both. Naturally, it was Pam St. Clement who decided to leave, but didn’t want them to kill her off. However, Pat’s ties to the square were too strong and it was hard to imagine her leaving of her own will. She’d been there a long time without family at many points so leaving for them was a tough sell. It kind of left them with the only choice being to kill her off. Unfortunately, sometimes these aren’t poor decision making or dramatic ratings grabs or even spite. Sometimes it’s just being backed into a corner with a character’s presence vs an actor’s desire to leave.
Yeah, that decision pisses me off so much, it seems that some producers just like killing off iconic characters even when the actors don't want their characters killed off.
She made the decision to leave and she left at the time they still wanted more so she would really stay an iconic character like come out she’d been playing pat for over 25 years give the old girl a break let her retire in piece.
Pat Butcher was an Amazing Iconic character in Eastenders.❤️Back in the days Eastenders was so much better with some of these old characters like Peggy, Roy, Frank, Janine, Rickkyy!!!😂and Bianca etc. The storylines back then were totally amazing I can always picture some the scenes in my head how they use to look like pat as in example in her 60s outfits and fancy earrings in the pub with her Gin and tea💗and Peggy as the main 1 and only landlady in the Vic “Get out my Pub!”😂❤️I miss all those old episodes and moments Rest In Peace to our Dear Walford’s Legends every time I watch Eastenders I always remember and think of them💕💕
Pam did not only play Pat but also had a huge say on anything and everything Pat related. Especially when choosing outfits and earrings she would wear for each individual episode. She had a final say on both.
It is well known fact that most of the earrings she wore on the show actually came from fans who were sending them to her all the time as years went by.
One of the most iconic characters since the show started! I remember the tail end of the Frank, Pat, Peggy and Roy storyline. They had gone to Spain with Terry and his wife (forgot her name), and I watched the part where Peggy slapped them both after reading Frank's letter. My country had always been about 7 years behind the episodes, so for me it was about twelve years ago when that happened. I DID see on RU-vid when Pat came back when Peggy was imagining her before she took those pills.
They didn’t have to kill her off. She could’ve emigrated to New Zealand to live with Simon, then come back for weddings/funerals. Then, when she wanted to come back full time, she could’ve come back penniless because she’s invested in Simon’s business that went bust. Just saying…
It was a huge mistake killing Pat off, the show was left with no matriarch characters that had been there from the early days, I know Pat wasn’t there from the start, but she represented the old school part of Eastenders, she was timeless, though Ian and Sharon have been there from the start, their characters have never been on the scale as Pat’s, the show lost its heart when they killed her off, I recently watched some clips of Eastenders and it’s absolutely awful, the acting is subpar and even the legacy characters have no originality anymore. It’s just like Hollyoaks but based in the East end
Am I right in thinking that there’s a possibility that Den might be Simon Wick’s father? I’m sure she had a quiet convo with Den promising him that she would never tell anyone that he was Simon’s father.
@Proud 2B A White Supremacist David Wicks was at her bedside when she passed. Simon said goodbye at her grave on the day of her funeral. He laid flowers at the very end and said “Bye Mum”.
