It’s possible to get two “last stands” in one game! I didn’t know about it myself until it happened to me. I’m not sure if you can get a third one, but the second one gave you even less health than the first one.

There are references to the NES game too: - Sometimes Doc Louis will tell Mac to join the Nintendo Fun Club, but stop and say Club Nintendo (now My Nintendo) instead. - In Contender Mode against Piston Honda, Doc may tell Mac to ''send him a TKO for Tokyo'', a reference to one of Honda's quotes in the NES game, ''I'll give you a TKO from Tokyo''.

Doc can also reference an arcade game Arm Wrestle, which is within Punch-Out series, in a fight with Bald Bull, because of BB's appearance in AW

To add to the Donkey Kong section, I think that the fact he is in the crowd before his fight is a reference to Rocky 3. In Rocky 3's intro, Clubber Lang is seen in the audience of all of Rocky's fights after Rocky becomes the World Champion and then while watching him fight, he's determined to fight Rocky in which he does later on in the film. This seems very similar to the Donkey Kong situation in this game and I think that it is a nod to the movie.

5:32 DK never kidnapped Peach. He kidnapped Pauline, who at that time was just named "Lady". Even then, they're technically not the same DK, as the one who kidnaps Pauline is our current DK's grandfather, AKA Cranky Kong.

I don't think lady is the same as Pauline. Pauline is in Mario Oddysey and looks like a young woman. And yet we're to believe that donkey kong has become old and senile as cranky kong? Their ages don't line up. I think the lady is just her own character and Pauline is another separate character who was kidnapped by modern DK.

The chocolate bar feature was used in the original Punch-Out on the NES as a motivational shoulder pat. If you use it immediately before the first round, your health will be cut in half. During round intermissions or after a victory, Doc will tell you to join Nintendo Club or "The Nintendo Fun Club" today. Another neat detail is that after every 100th win, Doc will say: "Alright son listen up. I'm very proud of you. Just keep it in the ring okay? You don't want to be a bully outside the ring."

if you wanna get back up after nearly getting knocked out if you hear the audience cheer you can get back up but if you can't you won't get back up there is also a very small chance you can get back up a second time

Fun Fact:you can do the same health regeneration trick in Mike Tyson's Punch Out and Punch Out feat Mr Dream if you press select when a round is over. Doc Louis will pat Little Mac on the back and when yo go into the next round,you will have more health

IIRC, Piston Hondo gets different types of sushi floating around his head, and he actually notices which kind it is. There’s also a reference in-between rounds that Doc Louis makes, where he references Piston Hindi’s original name, Piston Honda.

Fun tip, if the crowd cheers the moment a hit knocks you out before the on the ropes animation (audio only) mac is able to do his roar, I believe its minus, but for good measures I mash minus, one, and 2, if the crowd doesnt cheer at all, no chance. Theres also a VERY small chance to do it twice in one match. Dont rely on it, its RARE.

You missed two. Piston Honda can be seen reading a book during intermission. This book is actually a scan of a sailor moon manga. The other one was DK was a rumor fighter in punch out nes. A hidden boss if you will. This was not true till punch out wii

4:33 Fun little fact: When mashing the 1 & 2 buttons in this situation, you are actually able to barely hear a heartbeat. That heartbeat indicates that you will be able to recover from the TKO. Although, this can only happen once. After a second time, you WILL get TKO’d.

3:41 this is kind of in the NES punch-out game too; if you press select, doc will move his arm faster and you’ll get some health back, and there it’s only once per match too.

Another neat lil reference is during the Aran Ryan fight, he always gets up at the count of 7 and you also have 7 Stamina This is a reference his heritage (Him being Irish and all) and the superstition that the number 7 is actually a lucky number

I actually realized recently for the thing, where you're about to go down, when Mac puts his foot out and roars? That actually isn't luck based. It depends on if the crowd is cheering or not. Basically, when the animation starts for Little Mac's TKO animation, there's a BRIEF second where you can hear the crowd cheer. If you spam 1 and 2 on the contoller, it guarantees Mac giving it his all one last time since the crowd is supporting him. Now, if there's a way to guarantee the crowd cheering during the TKO animation? That I do not know. But still, I found it kinda cool.

For the 1 and 2 buttons, that's only when using the wiimote alone. If you're using the nunchuck it's also shaking the wiimote, just like the health regen. Also can only happen if the crowd is cheering for you, and I think it's tied to how close you are to the enemy. If you're close to his health you have a strong chance, but if he has full health it probably won't happen.

Also, in the multiplayer mode, when you have the two fighters, you can also punch your fighter in the face until they fall down. You can also get a tko on giga mac if you land your punches right.

4:15 If you keep mashing the 1 & 2 buttons you seem to increase your chances, if you are really, REALLY lucky you can do it twice in a row. (Every time you do this trick it reduces the chances for it to happen again in that match)

4:24 Because I know more about this game than anyone, the KO recovery trick will only work if there is CHEERING the moment the KO animation starts. If there was no cheering (or audience sounds) then it won't work no matter how much you mash 1 and 2.

In Great Tiger's rest cutscenes there's a chance that Doc Louise will get teleported to Tiger's side and Tiger will teleport behind Little Mac. Doc Louise is surprised that "he's at the wrong corner."

3:47 that also happens in the original, just you get a different amount of health each time, and if you press minus on the first round intermission, you lose health, I found it funny but un useful.

Hey! So the higher class the opponent is, the lower chance it is to get a TKO/KO Recovery. So if you're fighting glass joe, since his skin is made of baguettes and bandaids, you have a pretty high chance of getting the recovery if you smash buttons. But if you're fighting someone like TD Sandman, it's a very low chance to have mac throw himself forward and stay up. Probably just to fall again and not get it.
