I hope you will enjoy this mini-series of videos featuring an epic motorcycle riding holiday in Eastern Oregon. There were 8 of us on the trip on mostly modern bikes.. well modern to me! We rode about 950 miles from Portland Oregon through Estacada heading due east to Sumpter, Oregon. We rode through some incredible scenes that I hope you will enjoy and stayed overnight in some nice little motels in country towns & villages. It was a blast riding the 2001 VTR1000 Honda Super Hawk 996 "Firestorm"!

Riding my 82 BMW R100RS to the John Day Rally several years ago, crossing the John Day River at the bridge at Clarno I watched a herd of elk run up from the lush green flood plain and over a ridge to quickly vanish. The moment was brief but the memory is forever. Just a magical place to ride

Fantastic roads Mike. I have a Bagster two tier tank bag on my Firestorm which helps to get the weight more evenly distributed. The bags have a clear map pocket on top which is useful as I still use maps!

It appears you rode right past Blue Basin and the Thomas Condon fossil Museum on Highway 19, both are a must see. Even thou it was a great riding day, the video doesn't really show how beautiful this area is. I live in Central Oregon and riding on those roads is my church services. I've lived in 9 states and and Oregon is hard to top for it's beauty.

Mike: Thanks for a relaxing and enjoyable ride; interesting to see ‘everyday America’. Maybe in future your trips could include visits to places of interest? A question…..why are pick-up trucks so popular in the US? In the UK as you will know, they are mainly bought by tradespeople (builders, gardeners, tree surgeons etc). Maybe there’s millions of tradespeople? 🇬🇧

Most people who own pickups are not tradespeople, they just buy them because they can and only use them to haul stuff a couple of times a year! I live in this area and most of the people here need them because they are ranchers. But you can be in urban America and even the cities and people still love their trucks.
