I hate fish and don't have mirin and never saw it in the store. Any suggestions?
@JapaneseCookingChannel

For the fish one, please use other protein. For mirin, I'm not sure if you like, but mixing white wine (100ml) with honey (2tbsp) might work for you.

I adore the little whisk you have for the miso paste. It scoops the perfect amount and dissolves the miso so well. I always feel that I have trouble making the paste dissolve when using chopsticks and spoon, but it is really a matter of patience, ne? 🤣

Added this to my Watch Later list in case I ever move to Japan. All of them are amazing. I think my ideal breakfast would probably be a combination of some of these recipes. My favourite was the second one but I would definitely enjoy having omelette and natto in that meal too for example. Anyway, if I ever move to Japan, I'll definitely be cooking a breakfast like this. I prefer not to do it now because I primarily tend to eat local foods due to costs, the small carbon footprint and the freshness of the food. But I definitely wish I could have breakfast like this. You are a very good cook

Loved the Video, can you do some typical Lunches and Snacks? I got Miso Paste, but Dashi is really hard to find here in Sweden, is it okay to leave it out? So is it common to eat warm in the Mornings? We mostly have some yogurt with Berries, or some dark Bread with Cream Cheese and Cucumber or Tomato. We do have some crazy fish dishes here. Seaweed is also hard to get, I probably use some fresh spinach
@JapaneseCookingChannel
@JapaneseCookingChannel 2 года назад
Thank you so much for watching and giving me a comment! I wanna make videos about Lunches and Snacks in the future. Thank you for your request! If you don't have dashi, you can use only miso for the soup. If you can get dried bonito shavings, maybe it's better to add it instead of dashi. And eating warm miso soup for breakfast is common in Japan, but you can make it cold if you want. Also, please check my other miso recipes below if you are looking for miso recipes😊 ■Miso Teriyaki Chicken Recipe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JRpAry9T_4A.html ■Crispy Miso Chicken Sandwich Recipe ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-QlSWpyDCWkE.html

So if I get this right, it's common to eat soup for breakfast?¿ 🤔 It's kinda weird for me because in Austria we rather eat cold meals for breakfast like bread, cereals or fruits and hot meals like soup, meat and stuff at noon and the evening. But I also admit I've never had rice for breakfast before either 😅😂

Look up South East Asian breakfasts. We eat rice and noodle soups for breakfast 😁. But there are also people who have more western-style breakfasts like bread and cereal. Breakfast can sometimes be a really heavy meal for some people especially those who have a busy day and no time for lunch.

for me, when i started having savoury warm breakfasts,I can never turn back. I try not to eat too much for breakfast so i dont have a lazy day. I think miso soup would be perfect as it is heartwarming but not too heavy :) i am excited to try miso soup of my own

Wow. Of all these ingredients for breakfast #1 I can find rice, egg plant and water where I live. Maybe tofu in larger supermarkets, not sure :D Can green onion be replaced by leek? Or maybe green onion is the same as leek just different name? Overall looks very nice, healthy and fast and easy to prepare as breakfast should be.

Thank you so much for watching my video and giving your comment!! I've never seen leek, so I'm not sure... but, it looks very similar to green onion! I think that's totally fine to replace it for green onion:D I am so glad you liked the recipes. Please enjoy cooking these some time!!

May i know if the 2nd set with grill salmon. What is the paper used ? Baking sheets? Whats the purpose ? Thank you in advance.
@JapaneseCookingChannel
@JapaneseCookingChannel 2 года назад
Thank you for watching! I used parchment paper for the salmon. In that way, salmon do not stick to the frying pan, and prevents the fish smell from spreading to the pan... I hope😅

is there a reason why you put the miso paste last?

Thank you for your question! Yes! If you boil miso, the good scent of miso will be gone. That is why I put it right after turning off the heat.

Question: What is the cooking sheet when you grille your salmon? Is it available in US? Arigato
@JapaneseCookingChannel
@JapaneseCookingChannel Год назад
That's parchment paper, and I think you guys have one in US too. I use it to keep the salmon from sticking to the pan and the smell of the fish from getting on the pan. It's totally optional, so please skip it if you want:)

3:53 What kind of sheet is that? Can you make this recipe with non-stick spray as an alternative? Also, do you need to use a rectangular pan, or can you use a circular pan?

Maybe it weird question, but. Does miso paste must be highly salty? I really like miso soups, but it's too salty for my opinion.

Thank you for your question! I usually cook fresh rice whenever I need rice in the cooking. But I sometimes use leftover one which was stored in the refrigerator. I try to use it up the next day after steaming rice. If I can't use them, I store it in the freezer.
