Chicken Roll Recipe
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Filling:
500 grams boneless chicken, cut into small pieces
2 tablespoons oil
1 large onion, finely chopped
2-3 garlic cloves, minced
1-inch piece ginger, minced
2-3 green chilies, finely chopped (optional)
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1 teaspoon coriander powder
1 teaspoon garam masala powder
1 teaspoon red chili powder
1 teaspoon turmeric powder
Salt to taste
1/2 cup yogurt
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/4 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
1/4 cup fresh mint, chopped (optional)
For the Wraps:
4-6 large tortillas, roti, or parathas
For the Assembly:
1 large onion, thinly sliced
1 large tomato, thinly sliced
1/2 cucumber, thinly sliced
Lettuce leaves (optional)
Green chutney or any preferred sauce
Mayonnaise (optional)
Lemon wedges
Instructions:
Prepare the Chicken Filling:
Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and sauté until golden brown.
Add the minced garlic, ginger, and green chilies (if using). Sauté for another minute until fragrant.
Add the chicken pieces to the pan. Cook until the chicken turns white and starts to brown slightly.
Add cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala powder, red chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt. Mix well to coat the chicken with the spices.
Add the yogurt and lemon juice to the pan. Cook until the chicken is fully cooked and the sauce has thickened, stirring occasionally. This should take about 10-15 minutes.
Stir in the chopped cilantro and mint, then remove from heat. Allow the chicken filling to cool slightly.
Prepare the Wraps:
If using store-bought tortillas, lightly heat them on a skillet or in the microwave to make them pliable.
If using roti or parathas, cook them as usual until lightly browned and fully cooked.
Assemble the Rolls:
Lay a warm tortilla, roti, or paratha on a flat surface.
Spread a layer of green chutney or preferred sauce over the wrap.
Place a portion of the chicken filling in the center of the wrap.
Add a few slices of onion, tomato, cucumber, and lettuce leaves (if using).
Drizzle some mayonnaise (if using) over the filling.
Fold the sides of the wrap over the filling, then roll it up tightly from one end to the other.
