@@lucyhernandez376 the most important thing my nutritionist told me was to not worry about the number on the scale but focus on non scale victories and whether you're losing fat or not. weight fluctuates based on lots of different things you could gain muscle or have water retention it's so many thing and this causes a lot of people to become discouraged. not worrying about weight(as long as i was seeing results) helped me a lot especially at the times i hit a plateau on the scale because i could still see all the changes happening to my body.

THANK YOU! I know this video is a few years old but I just found it. Your calculator is the only calculator that shows that i should be eating more. Every other TDEE or calorie deficit calculator shows that in order to lose 1 lb per week, i need to be eating 500- 900 less than what yours says. I've eaten in those deficits for 2 years now and I'd lose a couple pounds and then stay the same, or id actually gain. i've noticed when I increase my calories to what your calculator shows, i consistently drop weight. But If I have an off day where the scale stays the same, I tend to get back into that old mindset and severely cut and then start the process all over again. I just need to be consistent with my proper deficit. Thank you so much!

to those saying it's hard to get in pounds, this is what I do: 1 kg=2.2 lbs. So mentally I remember it as 1 kg = 2 pounds. When a trainer says they're using 2 lbs weights, I just divide by 2 = so I'll be using 1kg weights. as per Jo, 1 lb / week = 0.5kg

Thank you for this! It’s been almost 17 years since I lost 160 lbs and now in my 30’s trying to maintain my weight, get stronger, lose a few pounds here and there as my body changes I find myself needing a refresher on how to go about it in a healthy way both mentally and physically. Small swaps like buying a frozen cauliflower pizza for cravings (which I love) and cutting down on take out pizza have been huge lately. I still go out for fun meals with family and friends but it’s not a weekly staple after a long day of work like it used to be.

I love that you DO come from the point of view of weight loss and have been through the experience. I find most fitness channels on RU-vid feature women who are naturally thin and simply put muscle on and look great, but I think most people watching these workout videos are people who are coming with extra weight and want to lose fat. You're a great role model. Not all your videos resonate with me, but there are a few that I keep coming back to and even get me moving when nothing else does (torch in 10 cardio and legs 👍💪). Love your positivity and promotion of overall wellness. Keep doing you girl 😘.

I wondered why I never could lose weight and now I see that I was MAJORLY under eating. I slowly got my calorie intake to 2100-2300 cals a day over the course of 6 months, and it’s CRAZY how much food it actually is when you’re eating high nutrition foods. @@elifsude704 So basically you never want to eat less than 1500 calories. If you eat 1800 you should maintain your current weight without changing anything else about your lifestyle. If you want to lose weight you can eat anywhere from 1600-1700 calories, that would be your safe deficit.

And if maintenance is the same as the TDEE. 😊 I also tried to compute my TDEE using a formula i found, and my TDEE is lower than what appeared in your calculator. But i would be following what appearead from your calcu. 😊 Lastly, I'm torn with the level of activities. Like how would you define moderately active? You are a million percent correct Jo. We should not deprive our body from snacks that we love, once we are eating healthy and wise. We can reward ourselves. I am very thankful and grateful that over the years I have been around fitness experts like yourself. My sister is a former bodybuilder who is also a fitness expert. She does not live in my country but she also advises me and she is very impressed with your workouts. You are so amazing. I see details in your videos that make you stand out from the others. For example, many instructors do not move in time with the music. If they do, many of them are on the off beat. You are either a musician like us or you have music in your blood because you are always on the down beat. That is very impressive. I can say so much more but this post will be too long. Thank you Jo for all this information! I used your calculator and it’s pretty much on the dot of what I’ve calculated for myself! I’m only eating about half my weight in protein, around 100-115g/day. I try to increase my protein whenever I can! I keep carbs between 150-200 on most days, easy to stay when low when you’ve cut out all the added sugar from your diet! I don’t generally track fat, cause I love me some avocados!!!

Jo, recently on your Instagram, you gave an overwhelming heart warming explanation to the situation of the whole Ann Marie video. You was down, you was sad and I felt your sorrow. You also mentioned how you will be doing more strength workouts. I replied to your story with : “Yasssss strength and dumbbells!!! I love you Jo! And remember, God got you and you got this 💪🏻🙏🏻 Everything happens for a reason, things happen to guide us on our paths, our journeys. This is helping you grow. So grow beautiful! We’re all growing with Growwithjo! Light the way babe! Hope you have an amazing day. Keep that spirit up 💪🏻 you’re strong!” With that said, I love seeing you bounce back from that sad and down moment. You’re beautiful inside and out. You got this. Thank you for all your content, the hard work and dedication you put into your channel and for us and for all that you do. ❤️ Love and Sincerely, Your friend, Thalia

Wait I'm so confused.. I thought calorie deficit was about eating less calories? And therefore lose weight, since you burn more than you eat. But I have been undereating as well and haven't been able to loose weight, I have actually been gaining weight. I eat around 1600 calories but I got calculated to 1900 calories. I'm not sure if I should eat more or less with calorie deficit 😭

But still, I get so demotivated from time to time since I also live in a home where the diet isn't very complimentary to my goals (Parents eat differently lol). With this info you gave I'm feeling a little more positive for the new week and the workouts. It sucks to workout but still have a lot stress and negativity. But I was a pop drinker so much sugar so I cut the pop out no pop at all just quitting that alone. I’ve tried multiple times to work out and eat healthier but I’ve never been able to stick with it :( I’m not overweight, but I do have a little bit of fat and it’s always been my goal to be lean one day 💪😫 I’ve tried doing Chloe Ting and I feel like her workouts were too intense for a 15 year old who lives a pretty sedentary life 😭 (I’m traumatized by up and down planks 💀) And when I tried to eat healthier, I was just sad because I didn’t enjoy the food I was eating and wasn’t satisfied even when I finished a meal. But I see that you have a beginner playlist with low intensity workouts, so I’m going to try to do that once a day! I’m also planning on eating healthier by adding more greens and protein, but not cutting out my favorite foods like you said! Thank you for giving out so much detailed information to help us with our journey!

I’ve been trying to lose weight for over a year now and I’ve recently started a calorie defecit and I was going about a week strong and then I fell apart and couldn’t do it anymore. But coming across your videos are really motivating. I am 13 years old and as embarrassing as it is to say I am most likely 194 pounds. The calorie deficit really worked good for me. I went from 191 to 186 but right now due to the fact that I fell apart and stopped counting calories my best estimate is that I’m most likely 194 right now. But watching your workouts and the comments saying that they can see results already is really motivating. Starting today I’m counting my calories and starting an 16/8 intermittent fast. Can’t wait to see if I lose any weight.

Your workout are the best! I started at 207.8 (50 days ago) now I'm 189.6. If anybody is wondering my routine I'll leave it down here: I currently do 2 meals. Breakfast at 8am I do avocado toast or 2 boil eggs with cracker, or 1 low calories tortilla with 1 scramble egg and add some tomatoes! I do workout at 9am for an hour Have the #1 snacks a bow of fruits For lunch at 11:30am or 12pm I do an Oatmeal Shake: 1 banana 2 scoop of Oatmeal Tiny bit of cinnamon Half spoon of peanut butter 8oz of almond Unsweetened milk For dinner at 5pm I do basically anything! Twice a week white rice, boil potatoes, broccoli or salads! For meat I eat twice a week red meat and the other days I do chicken breast grilled or in the air fryer or in the pan or baked. Snack #2 I do Granola Bars, or peanut butter and jelly sandwich (Oatmeal bread), or veggie chips. I Drink lots of water 64oz or more! And remember When you feel like quitting, think about why you started!

I find calorie counting so stressful sometimes. Everyone has different advice. I’m 280lbs and been eating at 1700. I started eating really nutrient dense foods, lots of veggies/fruits/ lean proteins. And I’m full at this point. However I’ve only lost 9lbs over 3 months. According to this calculator I should be eating 2547cal to lose 1lb a week. I have no idea how that’s right or how I would ever eat that much. Pretty sure I didn’t eat that much when I wasn’t trying to lose weight lol I’m just gunna keep trying my best but weight loss is confusing at times. Love your workouts and appreciate your content ❤

Dont give up! its better for the weight to come off slow rather than it coming off fast and you gaining it all back very easily, if you can maintain your calorie deficit and still lose wether its slow or not, its better than gaining so don't be disapointed when you step on the scales! Also the first month for me i lost like 2lbs but i lost a lot of inches around my body, so if measuring could help you feel better i would recommend that (if you're not doing already) dont give up, you got this!
