You and I are going to drink a lot of coffee together. Like, borderline dangerous amounts of coffee.
So, first things first. Pour yourself a mug and I’ll introduce myself real quick.
My name’s Jordan - but everyone calls me “J” - and I’m a 27th degree black belt in chugging coffee.
I’m also strength & nutrition coach, I hold several powerlifting world records, and I’ve been fortunate enough to have my writing featured in a variety of outlets like CNN, the Huffington Post, and Schwarzenegger.com.
But listen.
This channel isn’t for fame, publicity, cash, props, fist bumps, likes, pings, pows or whatever else there is.
It’s a place where you and I can chat.
I’ll never sugar coat, lie, or beat around the bush. I’ll tell you everything exactly as I see it. Some stuff you might like. Others you might not.
And that’s totally cool.
Either way, my goal here is to create a discussion. A place where you and I can get together, exchange ideas, and motivate each other to be better every day.
Like I said, we’re gonna drink a lot of coffee together - borderline dangerous amounts - but I’m excited. Because there aren’t too many online communities in which the sole purpose is to inspire and motivate one another.
And that’s exactly what you and I are going to do here.

Or we just understand that BIG of a deficit (as in my case - his equation is literally 800 calories less than my maintenance calories and the "goal weight" I used for reference is just 10lbs under where I'm at). A deficit like this puts a person at risk of Set Point Theory body response.

I saw this video back in September 10, 2021. As in Today January 31, 2022. I’ve lost 40 pounds using a calorie deficit. This video literally helped me change my life. I know it sounds crazy but it’s effective. Follow your calorie deficit, and stay active. Go to the gym at least 5 times a week for 45 minutes to an hour, and you’ll see results. If I did it, you can do it.

I discovered this video in April of this year, when after losing 7.5 kg (16.4 pounds) being on a 2000 kcal deficit in the months prior, I stopped progressing altogether for about a month. I accurately tracked everything I ate, I went to do the gym 5x a week for resistance training and 5x a week 60 minutes of inclined walking (steady pace). No matter what I did, the scale would no longer budge. Sorry to say this because I know you hate this word, Jordan, but I was for lack of a better word.. plateauing. 😅Using the calculator in this video, I calculated my new kcal deficit to be 1719. This has been my new target since then, I have lost an additional 12 kg (26.5 pounds) between April and now. Similar to before, I strictly tracked everything I ate, and did not make changes to my workout schedule. The only thing I also added was to start formally tracking my walking steps (W.o.W. in an Excel sheet). I'm writing this comment to first of all thank Jordan for this method. At the time, I had been asking around for advise to several professionals and all of them were either giving illogical advice or were just guessing ("Just continue what you do right now", even though I had stalled for over a month). I had an inkling I had at outgrown the 2000 kcal deficit I had at the time (I never experienced even a little bit of hunger anymore, which was in hindsight the biggest giveaway that the supposed deficit was no longer a deficit) but no idea how/what to change. Secondly, I'm writing this for everyone who is watching this video now and is in doubt about if this actually works or not: Yes, it does. Well, for me it did. Hope this helps! 😃

@@evie5025 not eating always the same amount of calories. For example: if you need to eat 2000 calories a day to lose fat, you'd need 14000 calories a week to lose fat. So, if you eat two days 3000 calories and five days 1600 calories, you'd be losing the same amount of weight.

Love the simplicity of this video, J. And although I was successful with my fatloss without counting anything, I am now at a stage where I want to lose a bit more fat and put on a bit more muscle so I decided to give the calorie and protein counting a go. Thank you for this and wish me luck! ♥

I've been on a super low calorie deficit for a year now, and so far I've lost ⁷⁹ pounds. It's slow but it's working and having 110 pounds left I rather be patiently doing this then to fast and not making it. It's not always easy but worth itm thank you for your videos ♡ #sortinghatsquad

hey if i were to consume 1500 calories and wanted to burn 2000 how would i do it because i keep thinking how people burn so much calories in a day its crazy

@@Arthur-kj6cwfrom what I've learnt, you burn 2000 calories just from existing every day. So breathing, eating, walking (if you can walk), and doing your day to day.

@@mercyihebuzor7220 yes you would not be eating 2000 calories for sure! 😅 It's personal to each so you would be consuming below that, because you use 1200 calories to exist 👍🏼 My understanding was that this person wanted to eat 1500 and burn 2000. They would have to look at their BMR and adjust according to that 👍🏼 for me, I don't count "exercise calories" - that's a personal choice though because they can be difficult to get right

The longer video is great and was super helpful for me. It’s actually helped me keep my weight loss going and the holidays didn’t derail me. Wait, what?! A holiday didn’t derail me?! This is exactly what I chose as my GBW and used as my calorie budget and I got down to 150 slow and steady and no feelings of deprivation and the scale and I are homies now. You're awesome. #sortinghatsquad

@@alexiscdiazz I started Sep 16, I began seeing my goal weight regularly on the scale by Dec 15. I was working out 20-30 minutes of moderate effort 3-4 days per week.

Exactly. Other calorie calculators would ask for your current weight. According to this I have been eating 500 calories under my goal weight calorie requirements 😂 its awesome to know I have a bit of flexibility

I took some advice that closely correlates with this calorie level. I ate normally for 7 days and found my average calorie level and then cut calories by 20%. Ended up being close to the GBw x 12

I’m not trying to lose that much weight that fast. More like 1-1.5 lbs a week. So like 6lbs a month. I feel like the calorie amount he said is way too low and unhealthy and will sculpt your physique poorly.

I have PCOS, PCOD, endometriosis, underline hypothyroidism, and let me tell you loosing weight is next to impossible for me. I swear I’m doing this for 17 days (minus 3 days of Christmas) and have lost 4.43 pounds. You are a SAVIOUR Jordan.

Try fixing your hormone imbalance with inositol, berberine, and tri-Chromium as well as being at a calorie deficit. The weight will fly off! I have P.C.O.S too, weight loss is def possible for us!

You may want to try intermittent fasting (IF). There is a lot of research that shows that IF is very helpful for insulin resistance which is one of the reasons people with PCOS have such a difficult time losing weight.

Lil Uzi Squirt 1,800 would be the amount of calories you eat daily if your goal body weight is 150.

Just reporting back a month later this works. And Ive fit loads of fun foods into my diet. Even being injured I got through a plateau and lost a few kg. Thank you! Excellent video.

Great video! I like to set smaller weight goals for myself; right now my goal is to lose 5 pounds but ultimately my goal is to lose 20. With that being said, I imagine it’s okay to use the calculation for my -5lb goal weight rather that my -20 lb end weight, right?

I love you, I love everything you’re about. My only problem here, is that my “calorie deficit” for my “goal body weight” is exorbitantly more than I’ve been eating. I’m concerned that’d still lead to weight gain, to just suddenly up my calories?

I heard of something called reverse dieting. Slowly increase your calorie intake day by day to get to that suggested number. Then you can always text the waters once you are there and see if your body still responds to weightloss

Lilian Chase I Lilian, I strongly advise you against this. Please check your BMR first (this is the calories your body burns at rest) and never go below this number. You should be able to find the calculation on google. If your BMR happens to be below 1200 then you’re good to go, but I strongly doubt it will be

Giving this method a try! I have done many weight loss programs over the years, but I have never focused on the protein counting! Starting this morning and hope i keep it up during this pandemic!!! I don't have a whole lot to lose but I feel my 15 pounds to lose is important to me.

This is my "GBW" And seeing the 1800 Calories is crazyyyy!!! 😳 However, I've been doing 1500 calories a day and I've already lost 10 lbs by following what you've said! (It's only been 1 year) I used to have a personal trainer and he was rough.. like he was really mean I liked him but he always pushed me wayyy too hard . And I can train hard but anyways I loved that you said if your "GBW Is 150 and you Get to 180 and you love the way your feel and perform that's great" I really like how you push enough but not too far!
