Everyone needs some form of dry box/cabinet. This is very important to make sure that your precious gear stays in tip-top shape and not start moulding. For a person who lives in HK which is a a very humid place, I had to invest in a dry cabinet but for people who are just starting out or who don't want to purchase one, this one is plenty good already. Good job, Justin!
thanks Mark! I find this to be more useful than ever now that I'm in a much colder climate! My gear starts sweating as soon as I step inside the house! it make me paranoid so straight to the box they go! Makes me wonder how people can just display they gear in shelves behind them! 😂😂😂
Yooo! I see your stuff in dopeskwaa bro! Ikaw din! Really talented and I wish you the best! That ROG gear you got is 🔥🔥🔥 thanks for dropping by the channel! Appreciate it! 🙏
Such a Well put video, I am going for the dry cabinet instead of this one due to that I won't care anymore as long as they are inside that thing, but this is also really good for someone who can monitor their gear constantly and can put the effort to do the try and error until they get pleasing result.
I was totally against diy dry boxes right before I saw your video. I still prefer electronic dry cabinets though since it’s a set it and forget it kind of scenario. I can see some people who love to tinker would probably enjoy the process but that’s probably something I can’t be bothered. Thanks for the informative video! Cheers!
Hey Will! thanks for the kind words man! yeah, Electronic dry cabinets are definitely more reliable, I'm just really the type of guy who wants to spend on some other "cool" stuff so I try and weasel my way out of things when I can hahaha! I'm cheap like that. 😂 thanks for watching and welcome to the channel! 😀
I even have a 200g silica gel as a booster and when level reached 38% im removing and changing it to 10g sg, I think that works faster than a dry cabinets performance.
Hahaha oo! Tipid hits! Pero super effective! Dto sobrang need ko e! Pag nagshoot ako, matic once pumasok sa loob ng bahay nagpapawis agad kaya rekta sa dry cab agad!
Yeah bro! This is the first time i’m staying in really cold weather so my cameras go straight into the box otherwise they moist up really quick as soon as i step inside our place! Crazy! The reheatable silica gels also give me A LOT OF PEACE OF MIND 😂😂😂
Hi! New subscriber here. I owned instant camera and SLR analog cam. When I tried to store my instant cam in a drybox, it dried out the chemicals from the unused instant film inside of it. Just want to ask if an analog film cam can be stored in a drybox with unused film roll inside? Thank you!
Hey diane! I store my films and analogue cams inside! Its possible your drybox might’ve been too dry… i keep humidity levels inside around 35-45% . A lot of people store their films in fridges, i tried that before but the film became moist and ruined my shots. I’ve kept everything in my dryboxes ever since :)
Hey man, it’s really so that there’s a cushion inside and since it’s microfiber, im thinking it might help with excess moisture too. But you can totally do without it for sure :)
I used the silica gel and only the original box my camera has. Upon checking my lens I hope what I saw were just normal wear and tear on the corner glass 😅
@@JustinEspejoby the way, not related to the video. Is it okay to put the camera sideways(hdmi part) in a camera bag to fit inside? rather than putting the camera downwards like lens pointing downwards?
Does the LR44 batteries or alkaline batteries in hygrometer can affect the camera sensor or camera gear electronics when you put the hygrometer with the camera in the same dry box? also what about hygrometer with Bluetooth can affect camera & lenses?
Actually, i put the microfiber just because 1. i want to lessen scratches of the gear against the plastic, 2. So that If i put my gear in and they’re a little moist, the microfiber can help absorb it in theory and itll dry up faster. But i think the box will work even without it tbh :)
Hey man! Thanks for the inputs! I haven’t come across that during my research at all. My drybox and reusable silica gels are about 2yo now and I haven’t experienced leaking or anything of the sort. I have lost beads everytime i reheat due to clumsiness tho 😅 Would love for you to point out a good reference for what you’re saying so people can be aware too. ☺️
@@Jack14432 it might be the container… it has to be air-tight. Make sure the edges of the lid has rubber gaskets. It cant just be an ordinary plastic container.
@@Jack14432 hmm i can only think of 2 things: 1. Try to use a new/ different airtight container. The seal on yours must have a problem or something. 2. Don’t use old silica gels. And try to get the reheatable/ reusable ones like in the video. Normal silica gels have an effectivity of up to 3-6months only depending on humidity then you have to throw them afterwards. I have 2 of these as you can see, and i maintain the 35-45% level consistently without any fans or light. So I’m really positive you can make it work for you too! Lemme know what happens. :)
