does everyone know that they put the label on upside down on cranberry sauce so that you store it upside down to help it slide out easier when you open it.
On the custard try doubling the eggs and adding two yolks, and trivit or a couple carrots under the dish to “float it” above the heating element. I’d also not cook on high, but keep on the low and slow.
Oldest did remote all last year and the end of the year before. Youngest starts pre-k this year and has never been to daycare. I can't wait till Wednesday for school to start
What I don't like is the ingredients... "Garlic, non-GM canola oil, whey (milk) sodium lactate, sea salt, dextrose, glycerin, citric acid, calcium chloride, xanthan gum" and for the Ginger you get "Ginger, dextrose, glycerin, fructose, sea salt, ascorbic acid (to protect color and flavor), xanthan gum, citric acid"
I was going to suggest something similar (if you DON'T have a trivet) - ball up some aluminum foil, maybe 4 to 5 pieces, then add your water, and finally, put the dish into the crockpot on top of the balls
I totally just asked Siri what a trivet was..... pretty sure she was wrong as usual. Asking Siri is like me asking myself you never know it might be right it'll probably be wrong but either way it's like good effort you know?
My 3 year old watched this video with me and begged and begged to make the meatball slider recipe. He even cried when I said we had to wait until supper time to eat them. We skipped on the pepper flakes but the recipe was a major hit with the family. The recipe is 3 year old approved!
Ah, the realities of cooking! Love that you included the "fail". It still looked yummy to me. A bit of icing sugar might be yummy, too, perhaps? Can't wait to see Pumpkin Custard: Part Deux! 🎃💕
I loved all these recipes- thank you for sharing everything including your flop recipe- btw, I love ramen and rice noodles too- have a good day everyone✨
Oh that first potato recipe would be so bomb with some spicy sausage in it! Also can we talk about how you just BLEW past 300 and are still blowing up! Congrats frugal fit family! You so earned this~!
"Lipstick on a pig" I don't know why but this made me laugh 😂 oh Christine it's weird funny content like this is why I keep coming back well that any I always need help with dinner ideas 😉
Fast slow cooker meals? Do you have some kinda fast crockpot no one else has? Otherwise im confused when can something slow become fast? How did you make your cooker fast?
I think I see 2 issues. You'd need 2 cups of plain pumpkin puree to make your recipe, and possibly another egg, my recipe calls for 3 eggs. My recipe calls for one 12 ounce can of evaporated milk. I have a whole cup of brown sugar, or 1/2 cup of brown and 1/2 cup of white. I did find my recipe baked better in the oven, in a hot water bath, however, you are much better with a crockpot than I am. I hope this helps. Pumpkin pudding definitely is worth working on to perfect because it's delicious!
Your videos are always so entertaining. Love that you included the failure, I'm sure it helps others when recipes don't work out quite like they thought they would. The meatball sliders are something I want to try during football season. They seem to be an easy make ahead dish and are so customizable.
Christine, I just found you by happy accident two weeks ago and you are a quirky say it like it is woman who can do it all. I so enjoy watching your videos and your recipes are not boring not all tex-mex. Thank you for your bright smile and endless enthusiasm. You make my day!
Your views have really exploded in the recent months! The channel redesign with your intro and your personality and professionalism are paying off! You’ll have that house paid off in no time! Proud of you internet stranger 🥰
It's not sorcery, aluminum is very good at dissipating heat and cold. Especially foil because it so thin. If you are in a hurry to defrost meat, without using microwave, place the meat on an inverted aluminum muffin pan. The pan absorbs the cold and because there is so much surface area it releases it quickly.
The ham & potatoes looks great-I want to put eggs on them & have breakfast. Would definitely have to put it on low and cook overnight-or breakfast for dinner :)
Peanut butter noodles (Thai Chicken noodles) are a big hit at our house. However, have never done them in the crockpot. Thanks for the update. Have to try the salsa wings. The best Christine receipe (and lifesaver) is your crockpot Rotisserie Chicken. I too hail from the great State of Texas and it has been brillliant with the hot Texas summer! Thanks for all you do!
Pumpkin fail: how did it taste? Pumpkin fix: Use a can of sweetened condensed milk instead of the regular canned evaporated milk. Skip the brown sugar, or only use a tablespoon for flavor. Add all of the other ingredients. See if that works for you.
Super yummy recipes! Thank you! Not sure if anyone mentioned this already- if you partially open the bottom of the cranberry, it’s enough to break the seal and it’ll slide out better. 😊
Don't kill your family with all that cinnamon. It is spicy. Ingredients 1c. brown sugar, 3/4 c. biscuit mix, 2T. cinnamon, 3T. cubed butter, 1-12oz. can evaporated milk,2 eggs, 1-15oz. can pumpkin puree, 1/4 c. apple sauce, 1 T. vanilla. (Extra spices: 2T. nutmeg, 2 tsp. cloves, 2 tsp. ginger) Directions Grease 1 qt. Slow Cooker In a food processor pulse together 3 times brown sugar, baking mix, and cinnamon (spices). Add butter, evaporated milk and eggs. Pulse 6 times. Add pumpkin puree, applesauce, and vanilla. Mix until smooth. Pour into Slow Cooker. Cook on low for 4 hours. Serve with whip cream.
Currently have five pounds of chicken in the slow cooker for the week. 😉 Thank you for these types of videos I used my crockpot all summer with much success and we didn't eat sandwiches every time it was near 100 degrees (as I refuse to heat up the house). I even bought a smaller crock pot so I could do sides at the same time, my family thinks I am a wizard.
It's my first time watching your video and I LOVE IT. YOU ARE SO FUNNY. SUBSCRIBE!!! Thanks for the recipes :) I'll check out more of your recipe vids👍🏼
When I was a college student training to be a dietitian, I worked in my university's preschool / daycare kitchen. We made a recipe called Pumpkin Pudding and it was so good, all the girls would fight over the leftovers. No joke. I saved the recipe, but this is not a crockpot recipe. 1 can (15 ounces) pumpkin puree, 3/4 cup light brown sugar, packed , 1 1/4 teaspoons ground cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg, 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger, 1/2 teaspoon salt, 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, 3 large eggs, slightly beaten, 1 3/4 cups half-and-half or light cream Preparation: Butter a 1 1/2-quart casserole. Heat oven to 350°. In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients and whisk or beat on low speed until blended. Pour into the prepared casserole and bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. If desired, serve with sweetened whipped cream and cinnamon sugar for sprinkling. (But we served it plain. CACFP, the pumpkin counts as a yellow orange vegetable.) Serves 6 to 8.
The custqrd had wayy to much cinnamon and may work ouut better with a little flour to help binf it. I will try the cranberry meatballs fpr the holidays thand for the great ideas.
The pumpkin custard almost reminds me of flan which usually has a bit of liquid that pools at the bottom. I love flan though. Looking forward to the tweaked recipe!
Pumpkin custard would be more eggs 🤔? I thought 2 eggs was not enough as my favorite is custard pie and it takes lots of eggs. I would try this recipe for sure but not sure about cooking in crock pot vs oven😵💫 Thanks
Love your videos sweet lady. I make a crust less pumpkin pie. Not very healthy, but my family loves it. It is on the Bisquick website. It’s called Impossible pumpkin pie. I have cooked it in my oven like this. Cooking like this in an oven is called a ban Marie. Maybe modifying this recipe may help.
How many mgs of sodium are in your Thai Chicken per serving? The American Heart Association recommends under 1500mgs/day for healthy adults and children without family history of heart disease or stroke, the top two causes of death for Americans.
I always mix the spices with the pumpkin and egg BEFORE adding the evaporated milk. The spices are much less likely to separate out and float on the top when mixed in first. Ask me how I found out about that one. And yes, another egg or two may have helped with the watery texture. I make crust-less pumpkin pie frequently because my daughter can’t eat the crust, besides it is less carbs that way.
Ramen noodles are tastier because they are fried in the manufacturing process. Regular pasta is just dried. That's why noodles are delish. Also unhealthy, but oh well.
Loved the recipes, thanks. Regarding your pumpkin custard, why not just make the pumpkin pie recipe and bake in casserole in a bain maire without the crust?
Hi...add 4 eggs instead of 2...the evaporated milk the pumpkin pure pkus you sugar and spices then grease a bowl that has a tight seal that is waterproof....i use my danish buttercookie tin can...then i first put 1/2 a cup water in my pot i put the tincan or bowl sealed and put the lid on...cook on high for 2 - 1/2 to 3 hours . Remove your tin can or bowl open the lid and check to see doneness by introducing a knife that should come out clean let it cool down and enjoy......the mistake you did was putting it in the crock pot with aluminum foil it got steam ibside and watered down your custard.. it has to be dobe with a lid ...the 4 eggs instead of 2 is to bind it better and make it firm but you can so 2 it will be creamier 😊 greetings from PANAMA🇵🇦
Christine, you forgot that the pumpkin soufflé was "baking" and not as forgiving as "cooking" :D I think you are correct in thinking your bain marie (water bath) was too high and got into the dish. If you are looking for a more soufflé texture you probably also needed to whip in more air - maybe whip egg whites only and fold them into the rest or whip the cream a bit first? It didn't look like a total fail but you don't mention how it tastes.
Every time I see crock pot on the thumb nail I think it says crack pot. I also do the same thing with CPAP on signs...it makes me look twice because it looks like CRAP.
I always understood that “Ground Ginger” is a powder and is the one you use in baking. Fresh Ginger, in its root form or in the tube you used, is for cooking and not for baking. Maybe that will help you.
When I’ve made that pumpkin recipe, I poured it right into the crock pot and cooked it and it came out fine and cooked thru. Spray with non stick spray first of course
About that garlic tube, what we do instead is buy a huge tub of fresh peeled garlic, food processor that up, and we have minced garlic for weeks. We can't tell the difference between that and freshly minced garlic.
Um may I have one of your many crockpots? Lol I'm still with my one little tiny crock pot I bought when I first moved out! Not to mention I have a family of four now it's still kicking lol 🙃
Use sweetened condensed milk. And way less water. And I'm sorry but too much cinnamon lol. I did the same u did but in the oven. The milk was evaporated and it wasn't good lol. And I use ginger and allspice.
Love your personality and thank you for sharing these great easy recipes. I haven’t used my crock pot for years and now I have some inspirations to use it again! 🥰
Okay but wait... how did it taste? A "joke" in my house is the comment my mom made about one of my desserts. "It was good whatever it was." And now my brother says that about everything I bake...
hi Cristine my name is Alice I'm from Brazil. my son is Luca and her husband is his boss at the university. Luca came to Brazil to spend his university vacation and introduced me to his channel and I love it
not sure how I could suggest changes to the pumpkin recipe, but for container to cook in, maybe do like with 'Brown Bread' and use a couple of metal coffee cans?? that would be easier to keep the water from getting in?
If you have a turkey lifter you can lift the hot casserole dish, just make sure it fits. Another option would be individual ramekins and use a canning jar lifter. ps put a towel over top and tie to lid to prevent water from condensing and pooling in your custard.
How many slow cookers do you have?! I counted 4 of them so far. Great videos. I am interested in slow cooking after passionate for instant pot and then cast iron cooking lol
I wanted to see if you were up for a challenge regarding crock pots. Since you thrifted that smaller crock pot recently I would love to see if you could some up with some meals using it that would feed a single person. Since its smaller it would be great for people like college students/those starting out on their own. I know you mostly focus on feeding a houseful of people but it would be great to see what you could some up with.
my thoughts on the fail.. instead of boiled xmas pudding i use a small rack to place to pudding on in the crock pot than the lid on. you shouldn't need water
I used to home school, my kids. Now my kids are out of school. The good thing for my daughter she is going to be trying this program that helps special needs kids learn to live on their own. I feel lost when she is not home. I am so used to her being home all the time. What shall I do?
I tried the Thai chicken recipe and I did not like it so I added a half cup of sweet chili sauce and it tasted a whole lot better. Thank you so much for the recipes I will be trying more of them!!
