When making pounds of cherries for pies, jellies, or jams its way to time consuming to use straws, bobbi pins, cherry pitters, or pop bottles to remove cherries so we don't=)

First time canning small sour cherries. I was worried about the pits till I came across your video. My trees of apricots and cherries went nuts this past summer. I love your little helpers. Thanks so much for continuing to share. God Bless

Your video brings back so many memories. My mom would take off the foam for the kids, we loved it. Let it cool down and we all had a spoon ready. That was kind of our pay for helping with jars.Lived in Texas so not many cherries there but used the same method for black berries, blueberries, mulberries and she would always buy a few cherries; it was my favorite. Almost all our fruit was what grew around us. I just happened on your Video while looking through RU-vid. Very glad I did come across it. Was a great videos could almost smell the cherries cooking; brought back so many memories. We lost mom back in 2007 and this is a favorite memory of mine, Thank You

The old bachelor across the street from me has a cherry tree that produces beautiful sour cherries every year. I love the flavour and colour, but they take forever to pit because they are much smaller than a sweet cherry. I’ve been looking for recipes where the cherries don’t need to be pitted, thank you for sharing!

Great recipe! So easy. I've made 2 batches so far and I used powdered pectin and they turned out great. Thanks so much for sharing.

My husband is diabetic, do you think reducing the sugar a bit would make it to sour?

I did similar with a bag of small tart plums years ago; -thanks for providing info that this could be done with cherries. I mashed them in a colander with not-too-fine holes (but very sturdy). worked great; just took a while..Thanks!

Did u know bluegrass is some of the most mathematically complex music around? I know a lot of electronica producers that are worshippers of this stuff

Thanks. I can only drink so much of the wine that I make so I may have to try your recipe. I like home made jams tho.

Can you substitute powdered pectin and do you know how much? They don't carry the liquid around here.
@barbvanee3788
@barbvanee3788 4 года назад
Yes you can use powdered pectin, the recipe is in the package. It’s 4 cups sour cherries to one package pectin, 1/4 lemon juice and 4.5 cups sugar.

It is a pectin product to help it stay jammy. The common brand is certo. Some fruits have more natural pectin than others and don’t need as much, or any. I think apples are one of the ones with high pectin.

Add a speck of butter, and you get almost no foam. Least that's what Annie says, so yeah.

i bet your way of doin this would werk wit choke cherries too, huh? thanks for the video,,,, have a safe and fun day
@rhondakhageman1428
@rhondakhageman1428 2 года назад
Actually, I tried that and it doesn't. Chokecherries don't mush up as well as that, at least in my experience. However after they have cooked for a bit, and cooled you can squeeze a little and the seed pops right out.
