I visited the Big One show at the weekend and here are some images and a short video from the show. Also some news on a tackle giveaway coming very soon.
Glad to see you out and about and making the trek to the Midlands. I took a drive down on the Sunday morning to take a look having never been to one of these events before. Well I fell in love with a Cadence 11ft #1 float rod and the cs10 reels so they've come home with me.... I think the rod might even be a match for the drennan ultralight that you use on your videos. I was also impressed by the freespirit match and feeder rods the 7ft quiver looked seriously interesting and not just for carp puddles. It's a pity Middy didn't attend would have been interested in comparing their poles to the usual suspects. Perhaps they will go to Farnborough. I thought I saw Browning poles on display at the show opposite to the main pole alley. Hope you have a good time at Farnborough and look after your self. Looking forward to a bit more stable weather and getting out again.
Russell Jones Hi thank you for the nice comment. I can’t comment on the Cadence rod as I haven’t looked at one yet! But I will at the Farnboroigh show. The Drennan can be used with hooklengths of 12 ozs so it will have to be brilliant to match it but I will take a look. Rods, poles etc are a very personal thing and one man’s meat is another man’s poison, all that matters is that you are happy with your rod! Bill
Clive Hurrell Hi yes for those who are not used to the long pole it does look a long way off, but cast a float out and you are fishing at twice the distance. Bill
Thumbs up just for the T shirt! Nice to hear how things went and new opportunities, looking forward to seeing you on the water when the weather clears.
Nice video Bill ..... A true angler you are. nice video mate. I’m sure you enjoyed it and you took some very nice pictures. Good gesture on the give away hopefully it will go to good hands look after yourself tight lines.
I’ll be off to farnborough, it’s the first fishing show I’ve ever attended. By the sounds of it it’s a great place. Good to see you in better health and able to enjoy your day out 👍
Black Country Piker Hi great to hear you will be at Farnborough, I will definitely be there on Sunday and possibly Saturday as well as it’s a big show. If you see me come and say hello Bill
Ash The fisherman Hi well I will probably do both days as it’s such a big show but if I can only do one day it will be the Sunday. Hope to meet you there Bill
Richard Pope Hi yes I always like to meet my viewers. Now that 501 was a nice pole but I would like to compare it side by side with the Daiwa G90 and the Drennan Acolyte pro carp. I did nip over and try the Matrix MTX 3 which felt similar. Personally if I had the funds I would get the Drennan Carp as the top kits are all the same length and the roller cone system in my opinion is the best on the market, and spares situation is great, but at the end it is down to personal preference Bill
Phillip Richards Hi well I consider the short pole, between 6 and 9 meters, an essential item and you would be surprise how little everything you need costs. A good pole can be had for under a £100. A cheap roller is about £14 but you can get by with a big ‘ V ‘ roller on a screw in bank stick, a feeding pot the biggest Preston one is a couple of pounds or so.. A ‘tulip’ grip or a sock type less than a tenner and that’s it! If you don’t want to make your own rigs the Drennan ready tied rigs are perfect. Recently I bought a Drennan Margin Carp s/h for £70 for a video for example so don’t be fooled into thinking you need an expensive pole etc. Bill
Phillip Richards Hi well I have just had a look on eBay for a cheap take apart pole and found a few that will fit your budget. The Middy White Knuckle 6 mtr pole is available for about £45 and has a spare top kit both of which are elasticated, bargain! The later 8 mtr version which is more versatile comes in at £85 pounds. You can get a cheap fibreglass Shakespeare model for about £25 and I had one years ago and caught a lot of fish on it. Now at that price it’s a real bargain bucket job as long as you don’t expect too much but they do catch fish! Have a look on eBay Bill
Catch More Media Hi Tom catch me at alanpris@icloud.com Hope you are keeping well and I’m enjoying your match video’s from Tunnel Barn. Kindest regards Bill

Great content. Keep it up! Would you like to be RU-vid friends? :)
Pretty cool stuff Bill. Now tackle giveaways? You’re making your mark, sir, and deserving. I did recognize the guy from Match Box. Was Bob Nudd at the show? Or Graeme Pullen? Thanks for sharing and cheers David South Carolina
davhutton Hi and thank you. The tackle giveaway is aimed purely at complete beginners and I know it will give someone many hours of pleasure! Browning did not have a presence at the show so Bob was not there, shame! Graeme was not there either but I expect they both will be at Farnborough. Bill
