Easy fix for Firman generator not starting 

Thanks for the video - the micro switch(es) would be replaced just as shown. For those who wander in this excellent video, know there are three micro switches that the fuel valve (large rotating knob) make contact at the Stop, LPG and Gas positions. For generator HO8051these are part numbers 96 & 97 on the parts list. The micro switches for LPG and Gas are the same design and if ordered ship as a quantity of two and the Stop is a single item. Make sure that the switches are the culprit as I thought that was the case with my fuel valve not going to the Stop or Gas positions - it was really the fuel valve knob that was the problem. After inspecting the three switches, not noticing any movement in them and the switches (silver pieces) triggering when depressed I then removed the selector and lubricated the spring loaded bearing on top of the knob (even though it seemed to depress easily), worked it a few times, reinstalled it and Voila! It worked through all the cycles. The moral is try the easiest fix first - good luck to all!

Hi! Let’s be honest here. That Firman generator looks pretty cool with its bright colours. Also, it’s tri-fuel. Wow! Pretty neat! Since it was on sale at Costco, it seems that everybody and his donkey bought one! However, there is a lot of videos on YT talking about problems with this generator. I’ve had my Honda generator, an EM5000 for 25 years this year. I never had a part break like that. I think I’ll stick with my Honda. Mind you, the Honda costs a lot more than a Firman. That must be the reason. My Honda simply does not break…

Fix it with some duct tape, "The Handyman's Helper" (Red Green Show).

What is the swirch called?

My switch will not go from propane to gas it is on propane and locks right before off?

Do you have a part number for this ? Mine is broken and I can't find it.

I dont see a red light when you select fuel. The light should lite up as you select Gas or Propane. No light means switch is not operating.

Does anyone have an answer for this same generator having issues with running for three minutes and then shutting off completely then starting back up and running fine only for three minutes again??

The immediate vlue was that the RED light wasn’t coming on. No RED light, no start. It’s right in the manual.
