I just made 2 pies the other day. I made lemon and the other I made cherry. On the cherry to serve I drizzled chocolate syrup on it. It made it like chocolate covered cherry.
Yum! We love Koolaid Pie. We got on a kick last summer and must have made a dozen of them. I definitely want to try making a watermelon flavored one. Last summer, I wanted to try a lime flavored pie, but don’t care for the Koolaid flavor of lime. I had a box of True-Lime, which I think is just freeze dried lime juice. I used about 17 packets to get the flavor I wanted. It’s probably the best lime pie I’ve ever had! The sweetness of the Eagle Brand mixed with the tartness of the TrueLime is pure perfection! 😋 And funny thing-we discovered that we like the Great Value brand pie crusts even more than the Keebler. They stay more crispy on the bottom.
Your channel has become one of our very favorite. In the morning with our coffee we look at RU-vid recipes. Tom is always one we look for. I had not heard of Koolaid pie until a couple months ago. She made hers like you did, but at the end she said there is a lower sugar version, my husband is diabetic so we tried it and it was really good, thought some of your viewers would like it. One 8oz package cream cheese softened, 1 cup Splenda and a pkg of koolaid (or 2). I mix with hand mixer because it is easier, then mix in the Cool Whip with a spoon and put in a pie shell and put in fridge for couple hours
Excellent 👌 Thank you. After stopping eating sugar and losing 20 pounds I am no longer dependent on medication. But, I'm on the free borderline. Recipes like yours are priceless. 😊
I've heard of this pie, but never made one. The watermelon pie sounds so good! It's one of my favorite summer flavors! Thank you Tom, for sharing these delightful recipes. I really appreciate them, and you!
I had forgotten all about those pies! My mother used to make them often. She would use the whipped topping in the can to decorate the top edge of the pie to make it more "fancy." 😊
Oh my goodness, my mom made her key lime pies like this!!! You brought back such great and yummy memories. I love your ideas and thank you so much for sharing!!!
The original Kool-Aid pie recipe came out in a Readers Digest in the 1950's way before cool whip and pre- made graham cracker crust. I used to make it as a child. To make it I poured 1 can of evaporated milk into a metal ice tray and put it in the freezer till 1/2 inch was frozen around the edges. I also put the beaters and the mixing bowl in the freezer. In the mean- time I crushed graham crackers and made a crust. Once the milk was ready, I took everything out of the freezer and proceeded to beat the milk. It thickens up just like whipping cream. At the soft peak stage, I gradually added 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and the pack of kool- aid of choice, which at that time they had more variety than today, and I used apricot flavor. I continued to beat this till stiff peaks formed and everything was well incorporated. I put the filling in the pie shell and back in the freezer. In a few hours it was set and absolutely delicious and refreshing. My grandfather loved for me to make it.
I have a 7 yr. old niece. She spends weekends with me & we go to church. She will love making this. I can't wait. We'll make Kool aid pie this weekend.
I made two versions of this pie. First, an orange one,and then,a lemonade one. Both are excellent! The orange tastes like orange creamsicle, which is one of my all time favorite flavors. The lemonade one was so refreshing. The thing I found most amazing is how silky and velvety the texture is. These have become my favorite kind of pie.
Thank you so much for scraping out all the 'goody' from the can and container. In so many food videos it seems they leave almost a fourth of ingredients behind. lol!
Made my first Kool-Aid pie today. I used an alternate version of the recipe where you add a tablespoon of lemon juice and 1/8 teaspoon of salt. I can absolutely taste the salt addition and the lemon adds a subtle tart offset to the sweetness of the pie. I might try the basic version of the recipe at some point, but I am very happy with the slightly more complex version.
I always enjoy watching your videos and this one was special! 😊 I to have childhood memories of my mother making these simple and delicious pies! I also started making them again a few years ago when my mother had dementia. I’ve made lemonade, orange, strawberry, cherry, mixed berry, and grape. They have all been a hit with family and friends. My mother loved the strawberry and my favorite is orange. But after watching your video I’ll be trying the watermelon! I absolutely love watermelon 🍉 and this may be my new favorite! We shall see! Thanks for sharing! God Bless!
I would add some lemon zest to the top of the pie and a slice of twisted lemon on top for appeal but I have had this before love it you cook a lot like I do you know food is about flavor and family keep on keeping on 🙏
Wonderful recipe! I heard you say getting the first piece of pie out can be tricky. My Nana said all you have to do is take another slice on each side. Works like a charm. Not sure why but I never had a messy first piece again. Hope it works for you too.
My mom chilled a can of evaporated milk and mixed with sugar and kool-aid. I wish I new exactly how she made it. This looks delicious, going to try this. Thank you for sharing.
I make a yogurt pie in almost the same method but only three ingredients: a graham cracker crust, a 8-oz. tub of cool whip and 2 yogurts. I use the fruit yogurts mostly like peach, strawberries, etc. (I would think any yogurt would work.) Sometimes I’ll put fresh fruit on top: fresh peaches with the peach yogurt pie, etc. If 2 yogurts don’t satisfy your taste, add another same yogurt. Put pie in refrigerator at least 3-4 hours; I actually leave the pie overnight in the refrigerator. This pie is always a hit and has never disappointed through the years.
Thank you for all of your recipes and it helps me to watch the videos that go with the recipes because that's how I learn the best watch & then do it myself. I also enjoy how you interact with each other.🙂
Love the vintage recipes always as I am 68 and made this a lot when my kids were little . Tip just use one but add a tbls of lemon juice that’s what to always did. I make it now but I make an almond flour type crust and I use a soft block of cream cheese and no sweetened condensed milk and 1/3 cup swerve powdered powdered sugar and zero sugar cool whip . I have a cherry in the refrigerator right now and I added a tbls of cherry juice from maraschino cherries to it .
These are the kind of recipes I like.....simple and quick! 👍 I didn't even know they had watermelon-flavored Kool-Aid.....lol! That shows you how old I am...I haven't bought Kool-Aid in years. 🤔 Thanks for sharing 🥰
My little 5 yr. old granddaughter likes to help her mother in the kitchen. I am excited about asking her if she would like to come over and make a pie, and give her the chance to pick the flavor. Thank you for posting this. 😁
Thank you for all of your recipes, and I really like you having the recipe right there in the video. I've gotten to the point, if I have to go searching for it, I just leave the video. Thanks again!
I really enjoy this quick and easy pie recipe. I'm going to be making it for dessert tomorrow to surprise my son with my homemade mac & cheese from scratch. I had planned on mac & cheese for Thanksgiving dinner I just didn't have enough time to make it then so I'm going to make it one week later for a delicious dinner and a wonderful pie to finish off the dinner with.
I’ve made the lemonade and limeade pies, but used minute made frozen juice…6oz, and they are delicious, next time I make the lime one, I’m thinking about adding some flaked coconut to it.
I gave made several of these pies. I wasn't overly fond of the watermelon. My absolute favorite is black cherry. I enjoy your videos. Your recipes don't have ingredients that i've never heard of and not able to find in grocery stores. Thanks for all the wonderful new recipes. I have tried several and loved each one.
Who would have thought, koolaid!? Wow, so simple, inexpensive to make & taste great to 👢 I am gonna make this with my grandson next time he's here, which is in a couple of days 😊❤ Thank you, love you mucho.
We are so happy to hear that people are sharing this with kids and grandkids! Kids love being in the kitchen! It makes them feel so accomplished. Enjoy and have a great time with your grandson.
I liked this. I'm not much of a cook so this was nice and easy to make. I made the watermelon flavor and added strawberries on top. Nice Summer time dessert. Can't wait to try other flavors.
Alternate Method - I've always made these with the Jello mix and the Cool Whip only. 8oz. Cool Whip and one 3.4oz. box of jello mix and that's it! Just two ingredients. This will give you a real nice flavor and extra creamy texture. Thanks for the video!
I just subscribed to your channel. I’d like the recipe of the Kool-Aid pie. Please send me notification when you upload any more videos. This is Hilda from Mcallen Texas. Keep up the good work and say hi to your wife. 😊

I made this with the water melon it’s very good and very easy I personally would do a mother flavor next time maybe strawberry and add fresh strawberries for the garnish
Made this with my granddaughters who love to help me. Watermelon flavor was good but overall it was way too sweet for us. I noticed in the comments that several people used plain evaporated milk that has been chilled. I may try this. I think it would help control the sweetness.
In the days before KoolWhip, my mother would use a can of super cold evaporated milk that she would whip until it was like whipped cream then add Kool-Aid or Jello. This brings back old memories from 70 years ago.
This is an easy one to create and, in the summer, when we made this, it was nice to have something cold and light for dessert. Tom definitely enjoys food.
I have company coming tomorrow, and even though I made 2 kinds of homemade chocolate candy, I remembered my 14 year old grandson doesn't care for chocolate; I remembered your kool-aid pie video, so tonight I'm whipping up a strawberry kool-aid pie. I have frozen strawberries that I thought might be nice to sweeten & puree and drizzle across slices to dress it up. Thanks for a last minute 4 ingredient dessert.
It’s fun to get your kids in the kitchen cooking with you! And it’s good to get kids cooking from an early age. They need to grow and feel accomplished and capable in the kitchen! This is a great recipe for people wanting to start cooking with their kids, or grandkids!
😮 WOW I have never heard of Kool -Aid 🥧 pie but Yes I definitely have to try This 🤗 Thank You So Very Much Mr. Tom & Melissa I never know what to expect out of you to LoL 😂😂 but I Pray God will Bless You Both for doing These and I will let you know when I try it Thank 's ❤
We hope you get to try this if you haven't already! And please let me know if you've tried the lasagna from the video! It's great to hear from you , Nene!
From Sharon. I only use 1/2 can of sweetened condensed per pie. That way I get two pies and the one packet of kool aid and also use pie filling on top. So good. My daughter’s boyfriend at the time went home and made some for his family. They used to make 7oz condensed milk and it was easier.
Those look great!! Have you ever had or made Kumquat pie? It is so good.. I first had it when I went to Dade City Florida.. that is the kumquat capital I believe.. since you snowbird in Florida you might see if you can find some while you are there!!
My friend just ask me this week have you ever heard of a kool aid pie and I said no and then I seen you on RU-vid so I said I’m going to have to try this, when I tell you this was so easy I made a cherry kool aid pie and it turned out so good I said I will have to let my grandkids make this pie they will love it! Thanks for sharing Tom!
I am going to try this, I've never made anything like it before & it sounds so delicious. I bought a packet of black cherry Koolaide for my pie & will make it tomorrow 😉
This is really great. I bet a few Oreos crushed fine and semi sweet chocolate chips would be good with the cool whip and condensed milk. Can we try it guys? Also thought taking a store cup of chocolate pudding spread over the bottom of the pie crust would be nice to🤤 I'm going to try to a blueberry flavor. For the summer pies.
I was a little skeptical of this pie but made it anyway. It is delicious. I used watermelon. Think I’ll try cherry next. As always, thank you for sharing this wonderful recipe. Blessings.
I tried the black cherry today. It was even better than the watermelon. Can’t believe I missed this as a child. Have you made cool whip pie? Very similar but with pineapple, pecans, lemon juice.
I've made lemonade pie before, but it called for undiluted frozen lemonade concentrate instead of koolaid. I haven't been able to find the 6 oz. can of lemonade in a long time. I'll try the koolaid version! Thanks.
I've made your version too and it is delicious. I love lemon flavor. I love orange flavor and wonder if I'd like it in a pie. Maybe next Summer I could make Orange & lemon swirl. Seems like we would like it. I would have to put it into two pie crusts.
How cool is that; you clean the spatula just like i do. And your so neat and clean at work. Not wasting. I like your recipies; altho i get them way late. Thanks for sharing them. 😋 Oh btw... when my mother made cakes and treats; she would leave bits of it in the bowl and beaters. For us kids to lick them. Only 2 of us kids. So we got to trade on the beaters n bowl. Lol. Did your folks do that?
My mom, I'm sure, left some behind for me because she knew how much I liked to lick the bowl. I still do as an adult! It's just a simple joy in life that shouldn't be missed.
Just love these easy pies. I am a lemon anything person. Just a little suggestion if you don't mind. The plastic pie cover should be washed first because the part that faces the pie is where people touch it at the store, etc. Have to try the watermelon one some day. During the bad covid outbreak years back my grown kids and I did a phone video showing them this recipe. Love the videos. Thank you. ☺
