That is the good thing about these, save them to use again on many other projects or make slight variations of the same mono print trying out different colour combinations etc.
Very interesting little series, the birth and editing of each little square. It’s such a privilege to watch your create. And I much appreciate the quiet, no distraction with music that often ruins an art video. Thank you for the vistual stimulation and auditory peace.
I try to film and edit these videos to show as much detail as possible, I hope that they can be followed without being too complex. Glad you enjoyed the demo (and the silence)
I’m just curious how you learned/developed this technique? New to monoprinting/mark making and thoroughly enjoy the process and viewing your videos. It amazes me how every shape and line, tells a different story. Thank you for sharing!
When I was an art student I loved to experiment, I liked the way this worked, it wasn't too complicated, didn't cost a lot of money, no printing press needed and you didn't have to clean up all your paint brushes (I was a lazy student) It is such a simple but effective technique to experiment with.
Thanks so much for your comments for the demo I will put a list of all the names on the community post and I will get them out to you as soon as I can. Thanks again and I'm glad you enjoyed the demo, hope it has provided some inspiration. UPDATE JUST FOUR LEFT
Yes the mylar sheets are great for repeated use, just wipe clean with a little turps or white spirit. I will use them again to make another one of these multi panel pieces using Yellow Ochre, I won't film this but will post results on my Facebook. Sorry you missed the live chat, I never know what time is best for them, I will give more warning next time.
I really enjoyed watching this video Dan, thank you. It's the perfect combination (for me) - no music (apart from the ending) & no subtitles. I love the finished piece/pieces; I personally prefer it as one piece with all the 12 panels together. I hope you & Buzz are well. Take care, Martin.
Thanks Martin, glad you enjoyed this one, it was a complicated on to film as I wanted to include more close up detail. The idea to split them up and give them away was a last minute choice, I hadn't done a FREE art giveaway for a while and I felt it was time. Originally this was going to be my last ever RU-vid video, but due to lots of positive feedback and encouraging comments I have decided to carry on and see what happens, it does seem to be improving. Working on an outdoor sketching video at the moment, that will feature Buzz if he behaves and performs as needed.
@@DanTirels oh my goodness, I am so glad you decided to stay. I am so picky about whose work I like and finding things that are original. I am also working bon monoprinting and have been watching the videos over and over and have suggested your name to a few others to watch. I like how you don't have us running to the store everyday time you come out with a new video. It's amazing that even without words, it's very easy to follow along. Happy subscriber.
i did not see him reload that plastic sheet. of course not, it is tirels, the original conservationist. if he did need more red, you expect him to casually prick a vein a drop in some linseed oil as a binder. wait, he would save the linseed oil. always a pleasure, especially the economy of noise and materials. thanks. s
I have enjoyed all your videos. I find something special in each one. Can you tell me if you prepare your gsm cardstock in any way before using the oil paints? Thank you for your time..
I enjoyed working on this and it is strange to think now that all the panels have been sent around the world, to USA, France, Germany Luxembourg, and also around the UK. I made a digital print for myself and although I no longer have all the originals, I have the copies framed on my wall. Glad you liked your artwork.
I am a beginner self-learner who doesn't know where to start and getting frustrated for not getting a perfect hold of my art. Thanks for being so selfless and showing your art technique to us. now I am your new subscribers 😊👍
Hello Dan. I'm curious to know that in this monoprint, the material you used seemed to be a bit more translucent (and thicker) but not as transparent as acetate. What was it?
There is no need because the layers of paint are so thin, if you use a little too much paint for the first layer I would just leave a couple of hours to dry. The best idea is to work on several pieces so there is time to allow for drying.
Each one of your videos is incredibly inspiring. Each time, you show some new twist or idea that makes one wish to reach for the paint. I could (and have) watch you monoprint for hours. Thank you so much for opening this door of creativity!
That's a nice piece, Dan. It holds the eye, then moves it. Figurative aspects competing with textual aspects. Using 2 colors, as opposed to one, holds the viewer's eye long enough for that competition to begin. Nice work! Thanks for posting.
I’m new to your channel. Do you have a lesson on creating the frame you used in this piece. I so want to try. It seems impossible to create those windows, and maintain each corner.
I love your videos! I’ve learned a lot and inspired me to try our techniques. Please continue making video. Especially enjoy that their isn’t unnecessary chatter or music just the process which is self explanatory. Thank you for sharing
