This is an easy no recipe granola that you can make for less than 1/3 the price of prepackaged ones at the grocery store - and you know exactly what is in it! Make it your own by adding your own flavor combinations such as vanilla almond granola, maple pecan granola, peanut butter chocolate granola, or vanilla blueberry granola.
Easy Healthy Granola Recipe:
4 cups of regular oats (can be gluten free)
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup)
1/2 cup coconut oil
1-2 whipped egg whites (optional for protein and granola clusters)
Mix all of the above in a bowl. Add any spices, extracts. and/or nuts and seeds at this time. Spread on baking sheet and bake at 300 degrees for 40-45 minutes, or until brown turning halfway through. Allow to cool and harden, then add any dried fruits or chocolate.
*recipe can be halved and measurements are loose

The first time I made this I added the raisins before I baked it....those little burnt, black balls of disgusting failure ruined the whole batch. lol. Great video. I love the no measure!

I always add coconut flakes into the mix so they get toasted when the granola is cooking. Yum. Agreed homemade is so much nicer and you know what goes into it.

Love making and eating granola! My base recipe varies slightly and I'll often use pure maple syrup instead of honey. Our two standard "flavors" are: flax, pecan, apricot and chia, pistachio, cranberry.

I have a similar recipe ... except I scaled it to work from a standard 40oz oatmeal container. Dump a whole container in the mixing bowl and go from there. Use the empty oatmeal container to hold a lot of the granola.

Had to chuckle at the "once this microwave dies..." comment...I feel the same way. Once mine dies, i'm not getting another one. Make granola quite often. My fave is using raw pumpkin nuts & raw sunflower nuts, vanilla, cinnamon, and topping it off with freeze dried strawberries.

i like preheating coconut oil and then adding my syrups ....maple and agave in equal proportions ... then adding the preheated portion to the oat mixture ... this allows for an easier blending process ... also i blend in my nuts and dried fruit immediately out of the oven ...as this tends to homogenize the mixture ....when roasting a nut mixture in cast iron ...ill often add raisins in the final stages and then salt the mixture for a sweet and salty variety of explosive tastes ....Viking

Mm! Yes, for sure going to hook the fam up with some custom granola! I agree with you on the microwave issue. We were microwave free during our short empty-nester stint, but we do have one now so we can heat things up faster and listen to hungry yowling less :) I just sent hubby a text for raisins and almonds on his way home. Thanks for sharing! I look forward to making it. I've been making a basic recipe for "Overnight Oats" in small mason jars with Oatmeal (I use Steel Cut Oats), Greek yogurt, Organic Milk and adding various things like honey or maple syrup, vanilla, fruits and nuts to the recipe. Two of my favorites are: 1. Honey, Pineapple Tidbits, Coconut and Almonds. 2. Grated carrots, Cinnamon, Maple Syrup and Pecans. So simple... Make, Shake, Refrigerate Overnight and Ready.

I made the mistake of adding salted pumpkin seeds to my granola. They are too tough and too salty. And instead of raisins I used dried cranberries. I like to eat my granola on top of fresh homemade yogurt. I do have a yogurt maker so it helps with controlling the temperature as it rests. Also, this granola is delicious as a cereal or a cereal additive. Thanks.

I've heard you say in a few videos, "that is too expensive for me". While this may or may not be true, what I think you're really saying is "I'd rather spend my money in some other, smarter, more frugal way". Marketing is JUST CRAZY in the U.S. and we are, or were all brainwashed to it, to some degree. I just love your videos... so many things I agree with. Some we're already doing and some I've never heard of. Thanks for choosing to spend your time in such a way to benefit others.

Your granola recipe is way simple. Thanks for sharing. Here is the one I make. It is from Julie Bauer "OMG, that's paleo" recipe book. Pumpkin granola. First mix wet ingred. then dry, then mix both together. Baker 325 for 30-40 mins. 1/2 cup of EACH sliced almonds, pumpkin seeds, pecans, 8-10 dried medjool dates chopped, 1/2 cup pumpkin puree, 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted. 1/3 cup unsweetened shredded coconut, 1/3 cup maple syrup 1 tsp. vanilla, 2 tbsp. cinnamon 2 tbsp. nutmeg 1/8 tsp cloves 1/8 tsp ground ginger, pinch salt. YUM

Thanks for yet another awesome video. I made my first batch of granola following your ‘recipe’ and did not use the egg whites. It turned out crunchy and very tasty but very loose. I was hoping for a chunkier version. I thought maybe I didn’t use enough honey/maple syrup. I’ll experiment next time. Thanks again.

Lower calorie less cost version; just bake oats and keep on hand.. then add whatever you want before eating.. it’s fine without oil and without sweetener.. this way you can be careful with calories.. like just add a teaspoon full of honey and a tablespoon of nuts and some nondairy milk or even water
