You can get suede wet everyone! Are you telling me a cow cannot stand in the rain or it will never be the same? Relax everyone, sneakers are meant to be worn! Suede is tough and im will always bounce back!
I too was pretty hesitant to wet clean my V6 and 992, but I did exactly this and it was absolutely NO problem Used Reshoevinator...water, lot of foam went over the entire NB sneaker. Brightened them back up so very well, I aired them out (I did have dehumidifier running to speed up that process) ...then brought the suede back from a "crunchy-stiff" feeling to buttery soft.
I scrub mine then they go in the washing machine tied up in a pillow case and on a 20c temp. Then and this is the important part put in shoe trees and let air dry takes where I’m at about 4 days.
DONOT USE WATER ON SUEDE OR LEATHER. This video shown will ruin the softness of your suede. Use a suede cleaner and a toothbrush. Thank me later. Even New Balance says not to do what you see in this video.
It’s actually pretty hilarious how many people don’t know how to bring suede back after using water. Suede has been used in horse riding and outdoor gear forever ever and it gets wet. A lot. As long as you know what to do it will last a long time. You don’t know how many sneakers I get on the cheap bc people freak out and toss their 990’s after getting them wet. Actually working on a pair of heritage collection 990s right now for that exact reason. Got em for 6 bucks. It’s ridiculous. I’m not gonna give y’all the tutorial right here because if you can find this video on RU-vid, you can find that too. Please tighten up, y’all. Sheesh.
Right! I was a bit fearful at first with the suede. Cleaning them like this (using a shoe cleaner like reshoevinator worked perfectly) Pat down, air dry. Yes the suede will feel stiff, almost a crunchy feel. Thats where a suede brush comes in, go over the sneakers and the soft suede feel comes back. Exactly...plenty of videos on here how to do it. 🤷🏻♂
Good question. But I guess the washer would tumble it too much even in low spin, I also guess spot cleaning with brush helps to be more precise versus tumbling around.
@The Black Emerald I was caught in a rainstorm and had to walk a few miles, long story lol the suede is kind of hard and discolored. Is there any way to bring it back to life?
Never brush any suede new balance because it will destroy the original color. I know how to clean its classified. And i know how to recover new balance color lose.
Every time your new balance get wet, you simply leave them in the shade to dry and you can't sunbathe them, nor wipe them dry, nor wash them, nor rub them.@@vernoreenabrahams
