Fasting has been a big key in my health transformation. Haven't been sick in YEARS and I'm now in my mid 50s. I like to stop eating, and drinking, about 4 hours before I go to bed. Not drinking any liquids was a big game changer. Was thinking that I needed to drink a lot of water but drinking too much caused me to get up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. Thanks to Dr Berg, now I'm getting better sleep.

I actually did most of these low key and didn’t realized she is so right...a lot of people really say I look so young for my age and I actually feel it too. Mindset is so important. The past should stay in the past if it’s dragging you to stay down, it’ll become your future unfortunately. Avocado toast delicious with turmeric, salt and pepper. I only use Korean and Japanese beauty products and wear less makeup non- high end only. How come no one talks about Mac and how they are over high priced products may cause cancer. It says on the label and people still put it on proudly. Good luck 💋💋

I totally agree with her about the exercise being sort of fake. I've always felt that way. The way I can tell is by how I feel. I feel like it sucks my soul to exercise at the gym or on machines anywhere; while on the other hand, when I am doing something natural, like playing in a physical way, running around with friends during a game of tag or swimming in the ocean, it feels wonderful! It feels good because it feels REAL to me. I'm moving the way my body was designed to move, rather than on a machine that only engages certain muscles in a mechanical way.

Well, i am of a particular age and i can tell you that if i stop going to the gym in 3 weeks' time wrinkles begin being more apparent and body start sagging which makes me look older. When i go back to gym in 2-3 weeks' time everything is reversed. So, exercise does keep one looking younger, alert and alive.
@yvonneforsman8649

@7:29 "It is complicated", she says. No, it is not. You simply eat organic (and low sugar, low carb), filter your water, filter your air, avoid flame retardant toxins in fabrics, use organic toiletries and home cleaning supplies. Do intermittent fasting and/or water fast now and then (autophagy). Sleep enough, exercise some, meditate, laugh a lot. That's about it! (I am a retired dietician.)

She is correct on exercise being a man made activity. In the past, our fitness came from walking, running, crawling, foraging, fighting, lifting/moving things that get in our way. The modern world has given us many comforts and I am greatful for many of them. But, the same world took away the need to express our strength and movement. The gym is a necessity for many, but the outside world is good enough for the majority

Naomi Whittel is definitely a pleasant presence and Tom is a great host, as always, but I've noticed few interesting things: 1.that she does not know some answers and Tom is kindly helping about that, 2.that she speaks about living natural, using facial masks all the time and even selling her own lines of skin products, but in the same time she seems loaded with botox to say the least (she has very limited facial expression - glabella is just an example). Also, 3.that she promotes some hyaluronic acid facial cream, while it is a fact that HA molecule is too large to be effectively absorbed into the skin and 4.that she does not believe physical exercise is natural, but she is planning to sell a program that involves some sort of PE. So, she gives mixed advice - some useful and true, but some just plain bs meant for boosting sales of some products. For me, this means that her purpose is not speaking the truth, as she does not really do what she preaches. So, enjoy the video, but follow with prudence.
@ooOnymphetOoo
@ooOnymphetOoo 2 года назад
I agree 100% with this observational comment. Yet on the botox or any other filler, she didn't preach, that should not be used. She promotes natural, but naturalism and purity in skincare and diet can really take one so far. The body can be tightened up and supplemented by muscular toning much easily, but the facial fat is lost and muscles weaken and separate which I call the facial tectonics. That really can't be helped so much externally or internally unless one goes under the skin. I was very bothered that she called exercise programs superficial yet she goes on to practice weight-lifting for her new book cover. Why can't she look like her normal self if she didn't believe in pseudo-exercise programs which became essential for people who don't work utilizing physical exertion anymore?

Very interesting, well-rounded interview! I appreciate how Ms. Whittel did not simply give "magic bullet" answers and kept referring to a more holistic approach. They lightly touched on so many important topics, that if she went into the complete depth of her knowledge and experience, this could have very well been a twenty plus hour, segmented series. Good job! So many interesting topics for further study.

Tom, what she was saying about stress kicking you out of ketosis is very true. It's based on the fact that stress causes a secretion of cortisol and epinephrine/adrenaline which makes your body produce glucose which then makes your insulin go up. Of course, insulin stops ketosis in it's tracks. I know this from my own experience. I've suffered from anxiety/panic attacks and measured my glucose and ketones before during and after those episodes and watched my glucose go from 85 to 105 in a matter of a minute and my ketones drop down to nothing. Otherwise, I normally am in a constant state of about 1-3 level of ketones (depending on if I am fasting that day or not). Stress is horrible for your blood sugar and metabolism. It puts you in that sympathetic state and makes you gain weight or at least prevents you from losing weight because of the presence of insulin. The same thing happens when you don't get enough sleep, you trigger cortisol and that shoots up your glucose and subsequently your insulin which shuts down ketosis.

saira ABDULLA coconut fat in many of its forms is my primary fat. Coconut oil, coconut yogurt, coconut milk, coconut cheese (shockingly good) Ripple Creamer (algal oil base which has DHA omega 3’s. Very difficult to get as a vegan even flax, chia and walnuts, the major vegan sources of omega 3’s will have almost no DHA. The only other thing I know that has a decent concentration is algae (spirulina in particular) Olive oil Nut butters, especially peanut and almond. Seeds (flax mostly and sometimes chia, you can do pumpkin and sunflower seeds too although they are lower fat and higher protein)

As always, Tom asked EXCELLENT questions but her answers were all too vague. I was really looking forward to her before-bed skin care routine (which I thought was a brilliant question to ask, props to Tom) and she was soooo vague about it, how hard is it to say what you put on your face on a given night? I know that most women don’t use the same regimen every night, including me, but I can sure walk you through my routines with precision. Tom, you have all my gratitude for always asking such substantial questions. Till next time!
