There's a buffet place that's in the town I use to live that I went to for the first time in over 8 years. I saw a sign that they might not return during the covid slump, but they stayed open and I'm quite glad. Their food is always on point and the service is stellar, especially with young kids. It's a shame to see buffet places who just stop trying, hope this Imperial place up's their game in the future.
Respect to this dude for even eating at these Chinese Buffets I stopped about 15 years ago because of the quality and everything always tastes the same.
Here In Finland one Chinese restaurant picked up their vegetables and salads from near by store's garbage. Officials found out but the restaurant was allowed to continue being In business. I have also heard that some Chinese restaurant used rat's meat and served it as a lamb. Lots of spices and sauce so people didnt figure it out untill some woman had tiny bone In her curry or inside the meat and then the investigation started.
Although to be honest, with recession. People be trying to find some more affordable options even at the cost of quality, its why those dollar stores be hittin' these days
As someone coached and trained to prepare all the dishes you subjected yourself to using both traditional and modern methods, I have no words. I would not serve that quality to my worst enemy. I agree with many of my fellow commenters that you have earned some Best Reviewed places in response to this.
I've had similar experiences at my good chinese buffet here. You go at the wrong time and some of the food has just been sitting. Usually around the same time mentioned here 3pm cause that's typically when they are getting rid of the "lunch" options and replacing them with the dinner ones. Sometimes it's nicer to go earlier cause it's a few bucks cheaper for a container but it can be risky!
I could tell that food had been sitting before you even tasted it. I am so sorry you had to go through this my brother. BTW, Gaviscon is really handy to keep on hand. Get the extra strength cherry flavored tablets. It also wouldn't hurt to keep Imodium in your toolkit.
Normally I like broccoli, so long as it isn't too overcooked and floppy, and it's such a naturally good sponge to soak up flavours. That broccoli looked awful though :C It looked like some gelatinous alien parasite badly disguised as a floret, telepathically sending out signals into the brains of any omnivore unfortunate enough to pass by, _wanting_ to be eaten. *EDIT:* "Your water was good though." x3
That first review sounds like one of those people who goes to the Chinese buffet and just waits until they put out the new tray of crab legs, and them scoops up half the dish.

I ate there years ago while on a bus tour. The group got there around 11-am, and the food was still cold. Everyone complain. The tour guide promised to let the company manager know about this: there was about 30 people on the tour.

Not trying to make an excuse for this place, but I feel like this happens to any buffet that stays open long enough. It's definitely been my experience with almost every buffet in my area. Great when they first open, but as the years go by the quality and variety just keeps declining. Even the couple that are still worth visiting are nowhere close to what they were like when they opened. Fewer items, items changing and being blander, unseasoned versions of what they were, etc.

Reviewing buffets is a good way to avoid any kind of bias if the restaurant staff recognize you and put in extra effort for the food. Gives a very impartial verdict on the food quality.
From first look I knew that was going to be a bad experience because the food looked cold and unappetizing in everyway. I hope they read the reviews and fix the true issues that they have.
Great and honest "bad buffet" review. Watched about 20 so called bad restaurant reviews a little over three years ago. Honestly those reviews were carp. 👍❤️❤️❤️ My clues to a bad Chinese Restaurant...bad spring rolls, bad egg rolls, bad crab Rangoon, horrible rice noodles.
this takes me back to my hometown in Massachusetts. We had a buffet called Imperial Buffet that was the best chinese buffet in town, at least that we knew of. We would go there for birthdays, family dinners, just a night out, literally anything and it was something I really looked forward to. This definitely not the same place I went to as a kid
Man's got some serious balls on him. If I'm ever at a place that's even a little iffy, I NEVER touch the seafood. This dude went straight for it, getting right into the thick of it.
Damn... It's sad to see this buffet go down hill with everything being cold. It used to be great. Wang's Buffet in Vernon also used to be very good when it was called Vernon Super Buffet, but it's long gone from its peak. The only decent one in the area is Far East Buffet in Wethersfield, even then, it's not as great as Vernon Super Buffet at it's peak.

Just watching your facial expressions and the quick turn of the head to look for the nearest bathroom is priceless after each bite of that gross looking food you sampled. Both me and my wife have experinced food poisoing within 1 week of each other. It's not a plesent experience.
Used to go to that buffet all the time before covid and it was alright but still good enough to go. Went ONCE during covid and it was the worst food related choice I’ve ever made 😵💫. Looks like the only change they’ve made was increased prices and they’re not using paper plates and utensils like in the pandemic. Really wish they can do better 🙏🏼
I remember an Imperial Buffet in my area up in Massachusetts, I see things have gotten NO better there, It's been shut down in my area almost a decade and a half ago! Awesome video, hopefully you are okay after your visit to Imperial Buffet!

The first time I ever had food poisoning was at a golden coral, jesus I remember how bad it was. I love golden coral, but that specific spot wasn’t up to standard I guess
