Am I the only one thinking that 'Gas Station Worms' sounds like the title of a Country song about feeling ill after eating a gas station hot dog?

6:55 Make yourself a worm farm.. large wooden box. Bag or two of compost. Buy a couple of tubs of live bait worms. Toss them in and let them do their thing. You can add some garden worms in there too. All Waste food Cat & dog poop (no cat litter, if possible). Some pony manure.. chuck it all in there.. Voila, your own live bait farm. Just add waste food and poop often. Even dead animals (fish left overs after gutting etc)

Best way to catch worms in your back garden is to use a hose with a sprinkler head on it. Turn the water on and point the hose upwards. You're looking to mimic rainfall ideally, the worms will be straight up to the surface. I always find it strange when you call it a bobber, in the UK we call it a float. Because a) it floats in the water and b) it floats your bait in the water column.

The only freshwater fish we can legally catch and eat here in UK are Salmon and Trout. MANY restrictions are applied and special licenses are normally required. Mostly out of reach of the majority of anglers.

JT, you mentioned that you have snapping Turtles on your property. Why don't you catch and eat one of those? I am told that it is perfect for Chowders, stews and soups and it's a fantastic substitute for chicken or pork in any sort of mishmash dish like jambalaya or dirty rice. You can also grill turtle meat, parboil it and bake it. I have never tried as I live in the UK.

I took my son, his friend and my nephew, mackerel fishing when they were kids, we came home with 18, so even though all but one were caught by my son, the boys took home 6 each. My son filleted ours, and sold them to the neighbours!

Looking at the size of your float (bobber) we would assume you're after huge fish of 20 0r 30 llbs. For those tiny fish we would use a very thin float. The other thing is we are not allowed to fish at all during the spawning season.
