Ebay MAF Sensor or Expensive Original. I have come to a conclusion on the Ebay v Origional OEM ones! Ebay ones can be dirt cheap and save you serious money, but are they worth the risk?
The issue with these knock off's is that in most cases they are not fine tuned to output the exact value the ECU expect to read. Or put in another way the output reading is close but not 100% matched to OEM. Which BTW it's a pity because the price is quite appealing. Cheers
Been spending ages on my 2008 trafic, 2.0dci. dash lit up and obd says open or short circuit. changed sensor , second hand one, still the same, cleaned ecu, undid loom, cant find the fault but heres the thing, disconected, it ran slow for a while, then came back full power. been running it now for thos of miles with no maf conected. Fuel economy has gone up, excellent in fact so would love to leave it alone, only thing.....mot, will it pass, dont think so
That's very interesting info. I did try mine with the maf disconnected but i got restricted revs. You notice any change in black smoke produced or reduced?
In my experience and others, the best MAF is to find original used MAF, with them engine runs smoothly. Tried several fully new VDO 9620z, Siemens 5WK9632, Renault 7700109812, with these engine does not runs smoothly, feels sluggish. Strange, but true.
Im a BMW technician and I can assure you that these aftermarket MAF's are all garbage. Your automatic transmission computer uses information from the MAF as well as the DME. The values are 2 main problems, running very rich because it is telling the DME there is DOUBLE the amount of air coming in. You will get a TRANS SAFE PROGRAM warning as well. Do not waste your money on these cheap ones.
I just ordered a VDO maf for my vivaro. The rubber o ring that connects it to the air box is split. Can you tell me if this o ring is supplied with a new maf? Do I need to order it separately? Thanks in advance....
Save yourself $300 and just disconnect the MAF completely. The ECU will compensate using a default mapping and data from all the other sensors. That's how engines used to run without all those complicated and expensive air flow and temp sensors. Slightly less MPG but you'd be saving $300 anyway :) The cheap sensors have slower response to air flow and the readings are not usually within the manufacturers specifications. Also it's just not the simple case of swapping the MAF out with another, the ECU also needs to have all the fuel trims and adaptations reset, which expains why it never usually fixes any issues after swapping the MAF sensor out. It takes upwards of 50miles of driving for the ECU to adjust to a different MAF sensor and fine tune the fuel adaptations. I'd not be surprised if those cheap e..y MAF's have any connection whatsoever to the plug pins and just run open circuit causing the ECU to use default mappings. Most cars would not even throw an EML or CEL with the MAF disconnected and the engine would run perfectly fine, of course with slightly increased emissions.
@@fiveminuteman Like I say, most vehicles won't be affected much, but in your case it does. Still, I agree mostly with you that the cheap MAF's are just not worth throwing money at.
I bought it for my Bmw M52B28TU 6 rubbish mass air flow like Alphatec,C.I Ignition,LandRover brand, one stamped 5WK9605Z but no name on,another on unbranded which was shifting the 3th gear in a plane road only when i touched the gas pedal very slight, but after all this and 150£ spend it=NO NO NO ANYMORE!!! I ordered a VDO SIEMENS and just waiting to came asap to replace him to have a engine which runs perfect
Do you produce your own youtube videos and edit them? Easy to say when you don't produce content yourself. Anything can be edited down, but you can destroy the general quality of the video. It's not all jump cuts my friend.
Hi Sir Im based in South Africa and need to replace my siemens maf sensor. Can you post the details of the supplier please? siemens 5WK9643 2816437200 PBTGF30
