Eberlestock is a brand whose products I have come to enjoy, appreciate, and trust. From day trips to deep mountain excursions, Eberlestock packs make the journey with me quite often. In this video we look at the Mainframe, which is a modular frame pack that I have had my eyes on for quite some time...and adding the Batwings this pack has just taken the form of load hauling workhorse! We get a field use impression and get the Mainframe into some solid hauling use!

Another good review with Pros and cons.

They sometimes do lack of little details but great backpacks. I have Warhammer pack which is bombproof with similar versitility of Mainframe pack. I would keep purchasing products from Eberlestock.

I was able to connect a medium dry bag and a large HPG decker pack and a HPG admin panel using G hooks. Sa far is my favorite combination.

Excellent in field overview and I really like your Bushcraft Paradise camp 🏕. Pretty freaking cool 😎. As I have mentioned before I was able to get the F7 Kite in Mountain 🏔 for $150 during their spring clearance sale a month or two ago. I am glad that I went that route vs the Vapor 2500 because it actually has shoulder straps and hip belt. I am planning on getting the F1 Mainframe Tall since I am 6’1” 258 lbs and I can attach the F7 when I need the load hauling capability. I also was going to get the batwing sets too for different application whether by themselves or with the F7. But sadly all the colors are out of stock in the Tall frame. I could get the regular but I will wait for the right one. I heard that they are coming out with a lighter and improved frame. I am just not sure when that will drop. I would love to have one before the first of October and the fall hunting season starts 🏹🦌

Where did you hear about the new frame?

That camo pattern is quit impressive. It looks like this might have some advantages over the Granite Gear Chief Flatbed in the metal frame and the shelf but the Flatbed does have the massive beaver tail. Have you seen Boonedockerys video series on Ruckdiculous? He found something very similar to this that fits the Alice and other frames that just might be the best of both worlds but for the life of me I can't identify it although it makes me think of Eberlestock products.

21" torso height is quite tall, yet you're still on the bottom rung, that's a huge oversight from Eberlestock in my book. They really should have added one or two additional rungs. A somewhat smaller gripe I have is that five PALS columns is a silly design decision, it should have been an even number. Pretty great otherwise up to 50lbs.

What do you do with your water ? I like the traditional placement of a 1 liter bottle just behind my right and left sides. I just got the frame and trying to get some ideas on how to attach some bottle pouches. Thanks !

Ok also prefer to carry 1L water bottles. I'll either attach water bottle corsetts or dump pouches to the belt...or certain dump pouches have a clip that can attach to lower part of the shoulder strap which leaves the bottle very accessible yet doesn't flop around too much.

@@outerlimitless thanks for the reply. I’m experimenting with these Molle bottle holsters that only use one strip on the back. The lower part is adjustable webbing with a shock cord retainer. A little shoulder yoga to get it back in but I think it’s doable. Might try a dump pouch. Reading your shoulder strap idea I wonder if a carabiner attached to the top of the bottle to the shoulder strap and a shock cord loop at the bottom could keep it from swinging about? If I try this I’ll let you know results.

I am 1,83 (which is about 6 feet) and I measured according to Eberlestock fitting, my back length from my hips to my upper vertèbre at 48 cm (18,89 inch). I seem to be just on the very low side of the tall frame. You mention your hight at 21 inch (53.3 cm) Do you have a little margin for adjustment or are you at the inférieur limit. I just dont want to buy the tall one and find out I'm missing a little space to be confortable.

I'll take a look...I need to see what adjustment I have mine on.

I am the same height as you and ca. the same torso length. Been trying to figure out which size to go for. Did you buy one?

I like the Mainframe, I wish I would have went with it instead of the Just One J34 Pack. The one thing I hate with Eberlestock is the zippers, I wish the zippers would zip down instead of up when attaching accessories. When I zip on the panel or the Super Spike Duffel the weight of it pulls the zipper down when hiking, really annoying and such an easy remedy. I use micro bungee cords to keep the zippers pulled up.
@Swearengen1980
@Swearengen1980 Год назад
I'm debating that right now with the Black Friday sale. Not happy with the J34? Or is it just the internal frame that's the issue? I'm splitting hairs between the J34 or F1 with a Vapor 5000 and gun scabbard.
@ninjazxd
@ninjazxd Год назад
@@Swearengen1980, the J34 is fine for a hunting pack and it carries the rifle quite nice. I just like the mainframe for the ability to use different packs with based on the needs. I bought this thing new but never hunted it so it's still brand new. I carried it in the woods behind the house with a rifle in it just to see how it was and it was nice. My dad has one and swears by it and uses his in Colorado a lot for elk. I bought to go hunting out west from Cabela's here in Georgia. The versatility is nice too. From what I have read though is the mainframe has a regular and large size for torso lengths. I have a long torso and don't get to use the load lifters like I have on backpacking packs.
@Swearengen1980
@Swearengen1980 Год назад
@@ninjazxd That was part of the concern. I'm a 21" torso, so the larger mainframe is what I would have to go with. For a hunting pack, the J34 looks great and I'd use it for that. But as you said; versatility. Of course with versatility comes a price tag lol. On sale right now, the J34 is basically the same price as the mainframe alone. So double the price to get the same functionality for hunting before you get to the versatility/buying more mods. Expensive hobby.
@ninjazxd
@ninjazxd Год назад
@@Swearengen1980 Definitely so. My only regret is when I got my J34 I got in in their Hide Open Timber Veil and I ordered the superspike duffel from optics planet but I waited too long for the zip in panel and when I finally did, it wasn't available anywhere in the same camo and I had to buy it in the newer camo I think mirage maybe. It's a great pack though, my bow straps to it just fine without the bow bucket and when using it in day pack mode I ordered a bowspider and attached a TekLok to it so it can be attached to the MOLLE Webbing on the lid. Definitely a nice pack and a lot of options.
@ninjazxd
@ninjazxd Год назад
@@Swearengen1980 if I had the funds I would buy a Mystery Ranch Marshall or the big Beartooth pack they make. Way more comfortable from what I hear but a lot more money.
