This backpack system can expand from 37 liters up to 81 liters. It's not perfect, but it's pretty damn versatile! The whole setup consist of:
- Eberlestock F1 Mainframe (tall external frame, can handle more weight than I could ever carry)
- Eberlestock F65 Little Big Top rucksack (very capable on it's own, too)
- Eberlestock Multilid (used to be called FannyTop Pack LP1)
- Savotta Vertical Pouch L (one on each side)
Other add-ons:
- Eberlestock Padded Shoulder Harness
- Reflective patches from PatchPanel
- Condor Rip Away EMT Lite
- Hill People Gear Bottle Holster V1

Taival Outdoors is a channel about the great outdoors, spending time in nature doing everything from day hikes and overnight adventures to bikepacking and multi-day wilderness backpacking. Trekking is close to my heart, but I’m not tied to any particular "genre" like ultralight or bushcraft - instead I do what I've found through my experience in the wild to work the best for me. I'm also making gear reviews and skill videos based on what I actually use and how I operate in nature. Thanks for watching!

I like the aesthetics of the “light weight” webbing and to be honest I would not buy a backpack that I consider ugly even if it is great in other aspects. In early 2021 I was in need for a bigger Backpack because my Tasmanian Tiger Modular Sniper Pack became too small for an extended hick. So I decided I would get the Eberlestock V90 Battleship and I am very happy that I got a V1 (with the full size webbing) lightly used for a good price because no way I could bear to cut of the stock webbing to replace it with full size one.
@TaivalOutdoors
@TaivalOutdoors 2 года назад
With F65, it would be more tolerable if the webbing would be better placed and there would be more of it for example on the sides. Now the poor placement combined with the narrow webbing is what kills a lot of functionality.

I started building a similar system with Eberlestock products, and I had the same issue with the unused buckles on my G1 Little Brother. My solution is to take the included compression straps that came with the F1 Mainframe, click then in here, and now they keep the shoulder harness tucked in whenever I use the external frame. I also own the Fannytop pack and I agree with your thoughts on the integration with the F1. It feels like an afterthought to me. My guess is that they designed this to go with their Skycrane and Warhammer packs and later when the hunting frames came out they said "oh yeah, it works with those too" and we both know how that went. I'm thinking about maybe getting a J51 Warhammer this winter? So I could use the Fannytop properly, among other (hopefully useful) features. Because I really like the ideas that went into this little pack.

Thanks for the comment. Yeah it feels like Eberlestock has designed different components at different times and never really had one solid goal in mind. J51 and G1 go together too, right? Should give you more options for sure.

The Multilid doesn't work for me at all. I replaced it with an ILBE lid, fits much better, holds more, and is dirt cheap second-hand.

Great presentation! I wonder have you ever tried to attach Rokka with F1 Mainframe and Eberlestock pack together? My dog also used to go all kind of outdoor activities with me, now she is 16 years old, someitmes have to help her through rugged terrain, looking for a solution to carry her on my packpack , thanks for any advice.

Hi, thanks for stopping by! I have - but have NOT tested yet - Säker rescue sling (sakercanine.com/products/rescue-sling). There are other systems too which are dedicated specifically for dog evac, so you might want to try to search for those.

I'm having the same issue with the harness system on the tall F1. I'm 188cm tall and have it either all the way down at the bottom rung, or the second-to-bottom one. The bottom rung causes my shoulder harness to float a little too much for my liking, and the second-to-bottom one puts the load lifters at an almost horizontal position, making them practically useless (which was the main issue with the regular Mainframe, and partially why they released the tall), in addition to the lumbar pad being a bit too low at that point. I'm not entirely sure what they were thinking putting the rungs all the way up there - especially the top ones seem designed for 7-foot-giants as there's exactly an inch between each rung.
@TaivalOutdoors
@TaivalOutdoors 2 года назад
Thanks, good to hear it's not just me not knowing how to adjust it properly. Such a shame as I waited for a loooong time to get my hands on that F1 Mainframe, and in the end the pack is better off without.
@khomatech6428
@khomatech6428 2 года назад
So I just got in touch with Eberlestock. They told me I'm probably too short for the Tall F1 at 1.88m. What a strange system, either you have to be a giant or you have to deal with non-functioning load lifters. Kifaru it is.
@khomatech6428
@khomatech6428 2 года назад
@@TaivalOutdoors Not sure if you're still reading these comments, but swapping out the padded harness for the regular has solved the rung problem for me. Turns out the padded harness is much longer (I never noticed) and that's causing the hip belt to ride lower. Eberlestock of course doesn't mention this minor detail on their website at all. Now I get to choose between a shit harness or a shit fit until my Kifaru gets here. I can't wait.

Hehe, tämän piti olla se täydellinen :D Etenkin tuo perus F65 Little Big Top istuu kyllä selkään erittäin hyvin. Pitää vaan varmaan itse modailla sopivaksi muutoin.

You still running this thing? I've modded the hell out of mine and it's a top performer now. Aluminum stays, extended load lifters, modified lumbar pad, HPG harness and Prairie Belt. Not sure if it was worth all the hassle but I refused to give up on it.
