I am 12 and I have bought Echo Srm 225 Echo PE 2620 Echo PB 2520 Echo PB 8010 Echo RB 60 Stihl HS 45 (got it for free, fixed it up for $22) (Edit: I also run all red armor oil in my equipment ) For all of the young kids who need money and want to start a lawn care business, believe in yourself, and get started with what you can.
I envy the potential amount of business you have now compared to when I was 12 as well as the access to much better equipment. I was buying reconditioned mowers from Sears when I was your age and getting by on (at first) electric trimmers. I finally bought a gas one (again, reconditioned) that I had to learn how to maintain. About the only advantage I had over you was that the gas back then was much better and didn't mess up the carbs! Anyway, good job!
I have the 2620 high speed trimmer. the 2620 curved shaft edger and now i picked up the 2620 pas with 3ft extension, pole pruner and hedge trimmer. Soon to have the bed redefiner as well. It works well and great. trimmed a 10 ft bush from the ground. only needed to climb a ladder 3 rungs so i could see the top of the bush.
I’ve used the srm 230 commercial for 4 year that I bougth used a garage sale . Perfect trimmer for bi-weekly clients. I couldn’t get it to break it just got stolen today 🤦🏽♂️and yes the speed feed is the best on the market !!
Dude, I haven’t even finished this video and I love it: everything from your style to your talking points-VERY helpful. I’ve watched several reviews on these trimmers and yours is the most entertaining and enlightening for someone in the market. I’ve subscribed!
think you need the factory guards back on there tho. they were designed to spin a certain rpm with so much string out. right now your beyond the normal length and having the rev that engine harder just to get it to spin good.
Have you used the srm266? Looks like it's the same displacement as the 2620 power head. I wonder if it's worth the added 1.9 pounds for the extra power. For a homeowner with less than an acre trimming and edging once or twice a week, do you think the 225 will handle everything just fine? Not like I'm going to be abusing it or running it hours a day commercially. The only downside I can see is the added weight and extra $100 for the upgrade. I'm coming from a 26.2cc MTD 4 stroke. But I still feel like either of these will be a big upgrade regardless lol. Apparently according to echos website the 266 is heavier than the 2620 I have no idea why since it's the same engine, but it's still 1/10th of a pound less than my old mtd/ ryobi! What do you think, is 21.2cc is 2 stroke power better than 26.2cc of 4 stroke mtd power?
I've got a PE-225 and a PB-500T currently and I previously have had a PB-500H and a SRM2100. The PE-225 is gutless but it gets the job done and it's the only edger in it's price class so I cannot complain. The PB-500T is a reliable workhorse, no real complaints. Whenever I think about Echo that's kind of what I see, a reliable no frills work horse. They don't update there product line too often either. From a service standpoint, I would rank them above Stihl but below Husqvarna. I don't like how they use tank grommets and an external fuel vent tubes.
I agree. The PE-225 is gutless, that analogy is spot on lol. I have that model, but I just use my 128LD with the Polulan Pro edger attachment. It is much more powerful and leaves a cleaner edge.
I liked the groovy intro music lol. Wow the 2620 seems quite powerful. I'd really like to give a Echo a real try sometime. orta get some at my full time job
Bought my 1st echo last week....dealer sold me a 225 for weekly trimming....so far I Iike it ok ....I wouldn't wade Into a waist high field....but for the price and weight it seems ok ....I keep trimmers 2 years and then get new ones
Have a 2620, along with other very light duty trimmers. I heard you when you said your employees don't want to use it as often...it's quite heavy. However it's got the power. A phrase I heard on Lawnsite years ago rings true..."professional equipment requires professional handling". Meaning, it's big, powerful and heavy...get ready to use those muscles.
I am trying to decide between the Shindaiwa T235 (same as the Echo SRM225 only in Shindaiwa Red and bit more commercially outfitted), the Stihl FS94 and the Husqvarna 522L. It has the 22.5 cc X-Torq engine. Shindaiwa and Husqvarna are $300 each while the Stihl is $400. Leaning toward the Husqvarna but I tried the 525LST a few years ago but did not like it since the head spun too slow and did not provide a nice clean cut. It would almost push the grass over but not cut it. This is why I'm hesitant to go with the 522L. as I don't want to have the same problem. Any advice?
I'm thinking of buying either the Echo SRM2620T or the Stihl FS91R. I have some thick vines along a creek bank and want to get them under control plus regular weed eating around the house. Which would you recommend?
so i am looking at like 4 foot tall weeds and thick overgrowth, weeds are about as thick as a small tree, i think i will get the 2620T, whats a decent price for one of them trimmers?
I have both Trimmers and to be honest with you my 225 have been more reliable then my 2620T my muffler covers have broken twice already cuz more pieces to break the 225 are just one piece.
Here's a question for ya. Ever had an SRM 266? anything really that much different from that and the 2620 other than the looks, air filter and price? looking to pick up a SRM 266 and sell my FS90R. Getting sick of working on that thing constantly to keep it running right. I can't seem to find a 2620 locally and HD has the 266 for $299. Only $20 more than I paid for my SRM 230 10 years ago I regretfully sold.
My friend loves his 266T. They have the same specs so i would say the 2620 is just added features and cosmetics.BUT i have never had the engines apart to truly know.Great trimmers
@@exterminator1 Thanks man. I'm going to go pick up the regular 266 here in a bit. I lived with a SRM 230 doing everything and anything with it for 9 years and the power was pretty good, and it NEVER gave me a single issue! I figure the 266 should have quite a bit more and be pretty comparable to the FS90R power wise. Man, mine was my grandfathers, its 12 years old and has probably only about 60 hours on it. It's been through 2 ignition modules, 2 carbs, fuel lines, fuel and air filters spark plugs and had the valves adjusted who knows how many times now. It runs real well when all tuned up but that doesn't last long. The carburetor is the most touchy thing to tune I've ever worked on, and I've tuned lots of small engine carburetors. I think it's time to sell it while it runs good lol.
@@exterminator1 Well I went and picked it up, fired up 4th pull and I used it for a bit trimming the edge of my lawn then went and cut down some soaking wet knee high stuff and the more I used it the more power it has. It already has nearly the same power as the FS90R does. I'm very happy with it so far.
@@exterminator1 I liked it at first, my grandfather always spoke so highly of it. Until about 2 years ago everything started acting up. I like it, but hate the low end throttle response and you gotta run it at least half throttle to do anything. Valves don't want to stay adjusted for more than a few hours anymore. Time to sell it while I can haha.
Try a 266 buddy you would enjoy it based off your videos I've seen. The 225 was my first real gas trimmer of many. 266 has been my favorite of the Echo trimmers. Haven't tried a 3020 yet and they have a big dog the 411X it looks like a machine
@@exterminator1 I've heard their backpacks are great. I've mostly ran Husqvarna backpacks(570BTS right now) but I do have the 2620 Echo handheld blower along with a Husky 525BX. I can't tell which I like better. I'll have to get an Echo backpack at some point. Was looking into the 770 maybe but I know there's the bigger ones. This 570BTS is a beast though
@@JenkinsMowing86 I prefer husqvarna however echo owns the backpack market. I love my huskyb580bts.but my echo 770t has almost zero vibration.its like 5 years old and still starts in 1 pull. Husky is awesome but echo rules back pack in comfort. Now my 580bts mark 2 is as good as any.but echo anti vib is the best around. Trimmers I prefer 525lst,period.
@@exterminator1 yeah I'll agree the Husqvarna backpacks aren't the most comfortable but I cant complain other than that. I'll definitely be giving the Echo's a try at some point. Echo makes some damn good saws too. Not quite on the level of Stihl and Husqvarna(XP) but not far behind. The XP Husqvarna saws are all made in Sweden still and they're sweet saws. I got the Echo fever right now
I can say, ive dumped sthil for echo on trimmers and blowers, echo is lighter more ballanced, plus easier to start in extreme heat conditions, and have had better customer service with echo, sthil not so much.
Idk I went from a stihl fs91R to an echo srm-225 and honestly i like the echo better,i dont like the stihl because the power band sucks and it feels like its not really that responsive when you push the trigger its a slug.
91r is a 4 stroke.so there is no "power band".But the 225 cant compete with the 91r.I had 2 of them.power difference is huge.i like my little 225 but it has no guts.
I have to disagree. We have a PAS -225 and an older SRM model with plenty of power. Our SRM (commercial grade Echo) model is old but it's not miles above the 225. I put a shoulder strap and the Darwin grip on the 225 and I will never use the SRM anymore. The SRM is more powerful but if you're on a budget, the 225 will do just fine. If you're edging on a tuff yard, the commercial Echo is the better choice. If you're doing some clearing work, then yeah, the SRM is better. But everyday trimming, the 225 is fine.
I have never heard anyone that prefers a homeowner trimmer over commercial.interesting.225 is a production killer. Why I leave it at home.I said everything in this vid already.so its redundant now.thanks for watching
@@exterminator1 I have added a shoulder strap and the Darwin grip attachment to my 225. It makes it very comfortable. However, I cant argue with the power of the SRM. Its definitely more powerful in every way. My point is, the 225 can get the job done. For those guys just starting out, the Echo PAS (Pro Attachment Series) 225 would do just fine. If you're on a budget, the PAS-225 would be a great purchase.
@@Ahch. yes everyone's budget is diferent.i started small too.heck I've showed what I started with.but i wished i would have known how much better the commercial ones were.id spend the extra money.but again we all have dif circumstances.i just want to let people know.get the best u can
@@exterminator1 Just my luck.. my PAS-225 started giving problems yesterday. It will run for around 30 mins. Once it gets hot, it wont restart until it cools down. I'm thinking it's the ignition coil. Had the same problem on our SRM-230. But it was almost 10 years old. You may be right about getting the commercial grade Echo. But I'm willing to bet, the ignition coils are all the same on the Echo models.
@@Ahch. try changing the spark plug first.Sounds dumb but they will do that.always try the easiest and cheapest first. But yea the commercial grade is literally night and day.So always get the best you can.Easier said then done i know.hope u figure it out bud
New echos suck I switched to stihl and no problems. I returned 2 brand new srm225 due to them turning off when I would flip it to do the edging. Trash!!! And they burn rich!! Muffler outing full of oil with quality pre mixed fuel!
