I grew up near there and although it’s safer than it was before, it’s still generally not a safe area to live. Lots of car thefts and crime. There’s only so much gang injunctions, which you mentioned, can do.

The fact that ExP (gang talk for Echo Park is "ExP") has the most enjoined gang in the country says a lot about how bad the place is. How is that injunction working out? Are you going to walk up and tell some vato locos they're not allowed to be there? Wanna get beaten to death? Yeah, just like those gun free zones. Real effective.
