My 590. Came with a 24 inch bar from Home Depot about 2 year’s ago. I hated it for the flooding issue until I finally figured out how to start it. Now I love it. After 2 years, I finally have a decent saw. Starts with 2 to 3 pulls, every time.
@Borophyll

What’s your starting process. I have accidentally flooded mine too.
@tomsommer54
@tomsommer54 Год назад
@@Borophyll I don’t use the button on top. In the morning, I pull the rope with the choke on, 2-3 times until it kicks over. Push in the choke, pull 2-3 more times till it starts. Don’t ever pull the choke back out the rest of the day after it is warmed up. Even if it takes 4-5 pulls. Don’t choke it. Another thing, I would get a set of over sized dogs for it. The dog it comes with does nothing. I got a set one day for about 20 bucks. Make sure it comes with the screw.

That's what is called a full skip chain. That is a Husky large mount (D009) with a 9.5mm slot and the Echo uses a (D176) 8mm slot so I imagine there is quiet a bit of slop on the fit up but an adapter could be made. Don't forget to turn the oiler up ALL the way which I'm betting is still not going to give enough oil especially in dry wood so expect some additional wear /stretch on the bar and chain. The 590 is a good saw and I have one that I have decked the cylinder to .023 squish, reshaped the squish band, muffler moded, raised the exhaust port timing and raised the upper transfers, the intake timing was good so I left it alone. I also did a low jet bypass delete on carb.

I bet it’s a monster, I had Iowa Performance Saws do a muffler mod and retune on my CS590 and it runs noticeably better
@MegaLostOne
@MegaLostOne 2 года назад
@@dentondunn4346 To be honest that is a major gain on the 590, opening up the muffler and getting the carb to be able to tune right. I was able to squeeze more out of mine but cylinders are like finger prints and each one has to be thought of as it's own, what works for one doesn't always work for the next. There is more left in mine but I haven't figured out all the tricks to the 590 and I'm not claiming I have. There are a few pro porters that have figured them out but they are still a bit of a mystery to most.

I am about to buy a cs-590 and I want to do a 36" bar setup as well. Only reason being, I'm building a custom chainsaw style saw mill. I want the extra cutting width, as well as the extra bar length to fasten on the track sled on the far side of the log I'll be cutting. I don't do production slab work, and I don't care if the cut takes a long time to make either. Point being, this is a usable option, but I agree that if you decide to do this type of setup, be prepared to make some sacrifices.

I have some suggestions. The standard mount for the 590 is a D176 and they don't sell anything over 28" in that mount. Leads me to believe you have a 36" d D025 mount that you jammed into the D176. Wow, that was painful to watch!! Unless you have one that is modified by a real good shop and basically a hotrod on steroids, don't run a 36" bar on it. Hell, I wouldn't run it with one even if it was built like a top fuel dragster!! 20, 24, and 28" bars are plenty for that saw, especially with stock settings. I have one that I used regularly until I had a few health issues and ran the 20" and 24" setup with a full house chain and cut some very large tree's on my buddies farm with no trouble. I am going to be getting a large displacement saw to run a 32 & 36" bar with a full skip chain to cut up some others on his place this spring. Having the right bar, very sharp chain, & settings makes a huge difference in how good the saw works. Oh, and learning how to run one properly, too.
@fredmetcalf

You're working that saw too hard.....when you're at full throttle and cutting hard you need to keep your RPM's up to keep the air flow up to pull the heat away from the cylinder....you're working the saw hard just pulling that much chain and bar and then adding a heavy cut rate and you're putting a huge amount of heat thru the saw. All that heat can't get out thru the muffler so the cooling air on the cylinder is very important. It's important to always keep your RPM's up as high as you can and balance that with the cutting rate. You can wear any saw out prematurely or blow it up by overheating it by overloading and undercooling. The brand doesn't matter; you can do it with any saw. Open up the muffler and you can get more heat out faster but 60cc is too small for a 36" bar and chain....you will always be working a saw that size too hard and it will take a toll on the saw over time......the harder you work it the shorter the time. Sorry, but there's no free lunch. Kindly meant to help.....rgds, La Grange, Texas

"Is it practical for everyday use?" LOL of course not...but thanks a million because I just got my 590, my buddy has two and keeps a 36" on one, I was intending to do the same til the forums (Buzz, Arboristsite and OPE ie Outdoor Power Equipment) all basically told me I'm an idiot and it won't work.....Thanks for posting video-proof, I KNEW my friend's not lying about his 36" setup being solid (he also has a modified 590, cannot tell if yours is stock or not) but seeing video-proof was nice, I'd been contemplating "backing off" and going w/ a 32" so thanks a ton for posting this!! Makes sense, I mean if I have a 12" on my 25cc climbsaw, sure I can bury it and cut 14" logs aloft - I do this quite often actually lol - but yeah it's slow the way your 36" was slow here, because it's my 25cc not my 355t :P But yeah SO LONG AS the user keeps this in-mind, and is aware of the principle of not forcing the saw / letting the saw do the work (and how chainspeed is your primary gauging here, makes me cringe when I see people's default IE to push harder on the saw, you hear the RPM's drop and know the thing's cutting slower AND working the powerhead harder, silly/stupid mistake but made by sooo many "veterans" in this industry! If yours is modded I'd love to hear what you've done, mine's not even a week old am literally going to put it on the bench and remove the limiters, gut the muffler and open-up (and then screen/filter) the airbox as the air-intake SUCKS for such an awesome air-filter element as the 590 has!! Thanks again for posting, now it's time to find if I can modify one of those lightweight Stihl bars onto my 590, am willing to pay premium for a lighter bar after finding these 3' bars can be 10lbs+, I mean sure for me this is MOSTLY a ground-saw but there's plenty of times I'll need to be using this from a spar wearing my spurs so lightness = happiness there especially for smaller guys like myself!!
