Corrosion can occur if water or oil spills or dust gathers on the connector harness. When water or oil dries up, it leaves residue that shows up as white, cream, purple or a different color.
Each pin on the ECU controls a specific function in the car; this includes fuel pump, injectors, or coils. If one of the pins or more are faulty or corroded, it will hinder signal or information relay from an input or an output.
On a corroded connector, the corrosion will separate or isolate the connection between the car and the engine computer. Therefore, the information will not relay from the vehicle into the ECU, or will not be read by the ECU, and vice versa.
The idea for the car harness and the ECU computer pin is to form a tight and dry connection, ensuring the transfer of information between both devices.
