Not only is he recognized as one of the innovators of Rock and Roll, he was also inducted in the R&R Hall of Fame in 1987, before the building was even built. And Blue Cheer's cover of Eddie's Summertime Blues is widely considered by many to be the birth of heavy metal. And the WHO did a killer version on their live at Leeds album.
I grew up with early rock and the British Invasion. However, there is a group of all Japanese women named Band Maid that has allowed rock n' roll to never die.
Unfortunately it's show business, when I was in Highschool I had a choir teacher that used to perform on Broadway. He said that you weren't allowed to have any emotions other than a smile because if you can't be positive they will replace you with someone better. The sad world of performance, that's why most of them feel lonely and turn to drugs as a coping mechanism.
1min50 , at the end of the song, Eddie looks straight up to the heavens for a moment. The date of this show, is his good friend Buddy Holly's funeral, which he could not attend due to this contracted performance. That's gotta be a prayer for his pal ❤
I thought I was the only one who noticed that nobody ever mentioned that but you but I noticed that years ago when I first saw this that was him saying prayer for his buddies no doubt about it Cochran was a class act
Yes and in a totally avoidable car crash. At least with a plane it hits a mountain in fog or malfunctions. Not too many people crash a plane because they were driving it too fast.
Brought memories of my older sisters would dance with the records playing, I guess they were my inspiration for loving to dance when I got older. Sure miss my sisters and brothers ♥️🙏
First class act brilliant Rock n Roller way head of his time just like Buddy Holly if those Two legends had lived who knows what they would of achieved. Eddie Cochran good also play the drums with ease. Talented musician . To Me Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly would of wrote songs for other Music 🎶🎸🎶 artists . Rock n Roll 🎼🎵🎶🎸🎶 will never Die . From a Teddy boy 🎶🎸🎵🎼 RIP Eddie Cochran and Buddy Holly. Two Legends who came to the UK before there untimely Deaths 🎼🎵🎸🎶🇺🇸
Agreed!! But also something that strikes me only because Buddy and Eddie became good friends after doing shows together: What was going through Eddies head when taping this show, seeing it was only four days after Buddy was killed in the plane crash?? He really held his own and this performance is stellar IMO
Along with the late great Buddy Holly, Rock N Roll lost two of its finest young talents in its infancy, but Eddie and Buddy have influenced so many acts that followed, their music lives on forever, thanks for posting.
Buddy Holly is an amazing song writer and a fantastic guitar player, filled that 3 piece group out with the most delicious playing, just a strat and a fender combo amp....same thing with Eddie Cochran.... The songs stand up today and forever
Eddie Cochran. Had everything . I saw him live in Manchester with Jean Vincent. Just marvelous. What a sad way for his life to end so early Absolutely magic. Looks charisma. Yep Presley had competition. 😭
Eddie was one of my favorites when I was a kid. I'd get up early and play him and the Everly Brothers. My older sister was the source for all these great rock and roll records. I've still got all the original vinyl.
@@sandrinerousseau6579 It's rock and roll but not rock let's say things as they are because what does this have to do with influences of r&b/country and to dance with rock subgenres such as progressive
Eddie was a star ahead of his time. He was lightning, flashed brilliantly, and that was it, alas. Dick D'Agostin did a fine job, and then some, backing him up. The group is first rate also.
THIS MAGNIFICENT ROCKER WAS DEEPLY RESPECTED BY THE BEATLES. IN FACT THE ORIGINAL REASON THAT JOHN ASKED PAUL TO JOIN THE QUARRYMEN WAS THAT PAUL KNEW ALL THE WORDS TO EDDIES " TWENTY FLIGHT ROCK"
I take note of the simple fact that MANY of the most sucessful rock & roll tunes/bands had a saxophone OR a prominent organ, harmonica, or accordian. One reason for Cochran's sucess was his moves, gestures and style similar to ground-breaker Elvis Prestly. Great song. Cochran's loss was ours too.
The guitar work on this song is absolute marvelous. The song is more popular now than it was back then as it only mustered a #35 peak. Eddie would be gone in 14 months, how tragic. I envy those people who saw him performing live as I was just 5 at the time.
@@miguelangelolmo5335 Over the years a number of American artists did far better in the long run in Europe than they ever did in the USA. In the USA once the hits stop then they seem to be written off by the media as a has-been which isn't right.
EDDIE, WAS A GENIOUS, VERY, VERY TALENTED, HE PERFECTED HIS MUSIC AND COULD PLAY MANY INSTRUMENTS, BUT DIED A YOUNG MAN IN A TAXI THAT WAS BEING DRIVEN TO FAST, R.I.P. EDDIE.
