Sayed Ali Masood it’s not as simple as just saying that. she probably thought she did love him enough to marry him based on what she was saying. It might’ve been platonic or not but you never know for sure. He REALLY should’ve looked at the road before getting out.

@@yurilopes420 she's implying that she's a lesbian. She thought she could feel a certain way if she tried hard enough (because she thought she was being selfish by not wanting to be with him when everyone wanted them to be together) but she couldn't even if she wanted to.
Joke all you want, but this scene was genuinely so sad. Eddie really loved Dani and believe he’d spend the rest of his life with her, but Dani never felt ready in the first place to commit like that. His final moments were spent in anger, sadness, and likely resentment. Not at Dani, but maybe more at the world or fate for putting him through this. He just wanted to be happy and he thought he found that in Dani. I really liked his character, and it hurts every time to see him die like that
True, but Eddie was very pushy. It didn’t seem like he truly took the time to listen to her. Listen to his wording of “why are you doing this to me?!”. It might have been more about what Eddie wanted all the time.

I mean they grew up together and hes spent, at the very least, a year believing their feelings were mutual so his reaction is completely understandable. He didnt seem pushy, just hurt and heartbroken and confused since all this took place on the same night. He wasnt in a position to understand her right then and we shouldn't expect him to.

@@HunterDriguez you are either very naive or have never had something you love destroyed before your eyes and ask yourself why this is happening to you. This man gave all of his love for most of his life to the someone he thought loved him back and sure as hell made it seem that way. So many times she could have said that she only saw him as a brother or turned him down, something! You don't get to wait the day before your wedding and still be a victim of the times.
I read somewhere that "Old tradition states that you should cover mirrors in the home of the dying and deceased because their soul could become trapped in the glass and render their spirit unable to cross over," and that, I think, goes well with how Eddie ended up haunting Dani (As well as the psycological aspect). Dani had to break the mirror (His glasses) to let him out.
One of my favourite parts of Eddie's reaction is that the writer doesn't overdo it. I feel like a less talented writer would just have his reaction go way over the top and start screaming in her face (not like he did since that was only in reaction to Dani not letting him leave) or grabbing her or slap her or something and they'd just justify it with "well he's really mad at her so it makes sense, shut up." He's clearly furious but the actor does a fantastic job of making it seem as if Eddie is barely keeping his reactions under control. Then, as soon as he starts insulting her and getting even angrier, he immediately tries to remove himself from the situation before he gets out of control and does something he might regret. Turns out he was a bit too successful at removing himself from the situation, but I appreciate the attempt nontheless.
I love how realistic the characters in this show are. They aren’t two dimensional, they aren’t perfect, and nothing is one sided. You could feel for both Dani and Eddie in this scene. Heck even Peters character was terribly tragic even with his faults. Morally grey, human, Bly manor nails it!!❤️
There really is no bad guy in this situation. Danny tried to feel that way for any for years possibly not even knowing she was gay at first until it just eventually spiraled into a facade that she couldn't control but had to get out of for both their sakes Eddie spent his whole life quite literally believing he'd found his soul mate and then right at the Finish Line it gets ripped away so really he's probably not specifically mad at her more the world or fate or however you want to put it
Im not sure bad guy necessarily. I think there is a HELL of alot of fault on her as 1 She got into long term relationship then eventually marriage because she felt " eventually she might like him " That is incredibly inconsiderate of the guy who is head over heels for you. 2 It could just be bad writing , but most people by there 20s either know they are gay or have incredibly strong suspicions even if they are trying to repress them. 3 She chose to stammer it out during a dinner ALMOST RIGHT before the wedding itself. She waited that long purely to protect her own feelings and never even thought of putting herself aside for a moment to care about what would happen to him. now there is real tragedy here as I bet HAD eddie gotten out of car and had time to cool off . He seems like he would eventually understand and had come around to help his family understand and build a different kind of friendship with dani or move on. Instead he died at quite possibly the worst moment in his life .

Keep in mind this was also in the mid-80’s right in the midst of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Most people considered it a “gay disease” so it wasn’t the safest time to come out.

I've seen so many people just say "why didn't why just say she was gay before?" This series takes place in 1987. Sure it was moee accepting than the 50s but nowhere near as accepting as we are today.

Edmund's death is not her fault. But the people who defend her compared to Ed by saying that he does too much but lol, the girl she knew she was gay but she went out with him all these years and she confesses to him the day before the wedding that she is gay and in addition she dares to tell him but I love you that doesn't change anything but lol so because she is gay it's excusable that she broke her heart and that she's fucked up on him all these years . the fact that she's gay and it's hard to accept doesn't give him the right or excuse the fact that she used him and lied to him all these years before breaking his heart the day before marriage. It would have been the other way around a straight guy who plays with a gay like that all these years I don't think there would be so many compassion.

I'm sorry, but Eddie getting hit by that truck looked funny. I was invested by the acting then out of nowhere "WHAM!" gets hit by a truck. How did he not hear it coming? That truck was going really fast lol. It was too close to the side walk. I can't be the only one thinking that part was dumb yet funny.
He was in a heated argument with his fiancé and overwhelmed by emotion, not paying attention to his surroundings. The truck was also speeding and literally hit him the second he exited the door, he didn’t even have time to look or dodge it if he heard it coming. It was pretty realistic imo.
Idk this scene made me just hate her. She led him on all the way till their marriage and boop guess what fuck you shes gay. Not only that she tries to look like the victim and kinda causes his death. Had she came out sooner he wouldn’t be dead and wouldn’t have been played emotionally. I feel him a lot more than I feel her
Dani kinda knew she could be gay from the moment she was trying on her wedding dress. The scene with her mom and Edmund's mum, where a girl helps Dani try on the dress and then the girl tells Dani that Dani has amazing shoulders and the girl touches Dani on the back where the zipper is, that's when Dani knows she's gay for sure.
Ehh I think it is bad writing. It assumes somehow during all of puberty.. then into college and work life she somehow magically never noticed being attracted to women. The show is not in the 1400s, it is focused in the 80s. The concept of being gay is known, and I find the idea that she just didnt notice her feelings unti lher mid 20s to be a bit laughable

Just that they didn't show it and I don't think it was necessary knowing the fact that the series was taken when she was in her mid 20's ...😬 it's just a flash back a certain time where the audience need to know atleast something about her sexuality and there.... that was the scene. I'm sure she did know she was attracted to women. Just that she was trying to see if she can go through with the marriage some how, due to the fact that being a lesbian was not a legal concept back then. So yeah... I'm pretty sure that was the written idea for this scene. Anyways it was more concentrated on Edmund's reason of death. But they had to show us something of her being attracted to women... so they did!!
Im probably one of the few people that actually got kind of angry with Dani after this. The show hinted of her sexual orientation during the zoom in of the seamstress caressing her back. Dani loved him no doubt but she couldnt keep ignoring her deeper feelings. I just wished she didnt wait until the night before the wedding to abandon ship. She inadvertently caused his death and then fkd off to the UK to escape the guilt. Ive been where Ed was. That kind of emotional pain is indescribable

Unless you were in Dani's position, you wouldn't understand. This was back in the 80s when homophobia was still very much looked down upon. Eddie was Dani's childhood friend and his family treated her like she was their own. Even Eddie's mom treated Dani better than her own mom ever did which was why Dani thought she owed it to them. It's a classic case of compulsory het. Yeah, she was selfish for waiting until the last moment but you also can't blame her for what she did.

She continued to do it purely to avoid any emotional pain for herself while delaying and growing incredible pain for eddie and his family. Its not about "internalised homophobia" considering she has zero hesitation to swap spit with jamie later on aside from eddies spectre.
@@humvee2800 Coming out is one of the most difficult things for someone in the lgbtq+ community. It isn’t her fault for his death, and yes she should’ve told him sooner. But you have to take into consideration how hard it is to speak your true feelings in this time period. The eighties weren’t accepting of people in the lgbtq+ community so she probably had (like I’ve seen in other comments) internalized homophobia. She told him BECAUSE she loved him, she just told him too late. His death was tragic but not in any way her fault because of her feelings. She attempted to escape the guilt because that’s what people who blame themselves for traumatic situations do.

This scene is so stupid lol. Almost ruins the show. Why is a Van peeling ass down a dead street so close to their car that it takes the door off at the hinges. And the car stays there lol. The door just comes off without moving the rest of the car. The idea is great, everything surrounding this is great, but the actual death is so stupid.
Tight city streets that are part of some main road that semis are allowed to drive on. Not large cities, but small ones. I hate driving down these roads in the right lane and having to squeeze in-between cars parked on the side of the street and trucks in the left lane. I always look carefully because I'm terrified someone will step out of their parked car like that in just the right moment for disaster. It's also annoying having to wait forever for a break in traffic just to get in your car or resorting to climbing in through the passenger's side. Considering this is at night, in a smaller city it really might seem like a dead street. Some semi drivers sure do love to speed down those roads :/
The amount of people blaming Dani for “wasting his time” when she wasn’t sure of her true feelings and battled internally with them for a long time while wishing her homosexuality would go away is bonkers. This is set in the 80s, so homosexuality was definitely looked upon differently and coming out wasn’t as easy or commonplace as it is now in the world, and even now people are still thrown out of their homes or worse because of it, so I completely understand why she did what she did trying to live the life she was taught to live. Yes, she broke his heart, but hers was broken in breaking his because she did love him in a way and to hurt him hurt her. He acted irrationally and jumped out of the car which ended his life. Had he stayed in the car or made Dani get out of the car (where she’d have still been safe on the sidewalk) he’d have been alive and possibly found another woman and ended up happy.
Bullshit. She didn't have to come out right then and there, but she certainly led him on. Gay people back in the day were confirmed bachelora and apinsters for a reason. She knew she was a lesbian and selfishly thought she could trick herself out of it. He wasted what became his entire life on someone that didn't reciprocate those feelings. This background story was completely wasted, I mean, he haunts her for three episodes and does nothing. I expected better, his ghoul form looked spookier than the faceless woman. Also, Dani's character is boring and annoying, her constant mourning face doesn't make her likable, I mean... she is pretty but... bissh if you are gay you should have told your friend "Eddie I only see you like a brother" and that's it.
I feel for that poor guy... The really sad part is that before he died hees gentle heart was crushed by this "woman" (I would use another word but i don`t want to get benned from youtube agan for not using a POLITICAL CORRECT form of language which is plain censorship on youtube`s part~"freadom of speech?"...HAHA! that`s a good one ).
