I am from Chile, lived in Scotland for 3 and a hlf years as a child and my recently passed away father took the family a couple of times to the Edingurgh tatoo... he loved Scottish music too and through him, I learned to love it, too. Watching this video was a lovely trip down memory lane. Thank you and I hope to visit Scotland once again in my life... :)
"Watching these closing scenes, makes one wish to be there for the live performance! Thanks for sharing these special moments from the 60th Anniversary of the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo 2010!!"
@mouchel1995 Thank you for that information, I have seen the Drum Major in State Dress at the Queen Mother's funeral and wondered why they weren't in Red Tunics and Bearskin Bonnetts. You have just taught me something new....
0:14 is me blurred in the background, and my girlfriend in the foreground :) We will never forget performing on the esplanade, I cannot describe the feeling!
@1942dandy That is the Household Division Drum Major's State Dress. This is worn when a member of the Royal family is present, or, historically - is the presence of The Lord Major of London who still pays for the uniform today. The Ediburgh Tattoo is now The Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo - hence the state dress
I find it ironic that Major Stoddart plays a pipe tune called "Sleep Dearie, Sleep". Who the hell can sleep while hearing the pipes? Phenomenal performance though.
The Sond "I Vow To Thee My Country", is a haunting, beautiful tune and makes one thankful for our countries and VERY PROUD to be a Scottish American!!! Dandy1942 Atlanta, USA
The Military Band Drum Major is not dressed in a Red Tunic and Bearskin, but a Black hat similar to that when one goes fox hunting. His white leggings and the rest of his uniform are unfamiliar to me. What does the uniform signify?? Is he the Senior Drum Major?? Thank you Dandy 1942 Atlanta, USA
It was an HONOUR to be part f this TATOO .I was a SNARE DRUMMER playing with the AUSTRALIAN PIPES and DRUMS. My Dad was Polish and my Mum was Scottish. So Proud of Both Nationalities..I'm still drumming .and doing another TATOO in BASEL Next Year. I'll just turn 80 years old.when I go over there..😁😁🥰
to akiwipom the united kingdom of england i dont think so england is a small country within britain along with scotland wales and ireland take the other countries away and you have little small england
Wonderful to see these fine young men and women who serve their countries with pride. Stark contrast to what is happening with feral youth down south, looting and setting fire to property. I say send in the battle hardened troops to frighten the living s**t out of them!
