The BBC could learn a thing or three about presenting events like this. Instead of waffling over the performers, these two speak sensibly and professionally. Well done! Loved the whole experience.
That performance by the New Zealand Army band, has to be one of the finest, if not the finest performances of a band that I have ever seen! Well done. And thank you.
I have Scottish and English ancestry but live in the states, we could use more quality entertainment like this to tie our brothers and sisters together on this earth! Especially during this time of COVID and stress in the states!
I have to say, what the NZ Army Band Drum Major said near the end, "if you see someone without a smile, give them one of yours" was a perfect sentiment in this day and age. There's too much hate in the world, we need more people like him.
The talent and precision of everyone performing in this Tattoo was amazing. This is truly an example of skill, talent and lot of practice. I would have loved seeing this video in FOCUS.
This is unbelievably Beautiful!!! The Scottish in me resonates with the Bag Pipes So much!!! It makes me cry and I don't know why. Your patriotism is Beautiful!!! God Bless You All!!
That's lovely comment.i now live in scotland my children married scotsman and women.but I just dont like the cold.i love the country and especially the pipers.but when my son in law tragically died.the piper played him from his home into the church and to final destination.32 yes old his workmates lined the route but when they heard the piper I saw grown men cry.my 3 little grandaughters carrying a piece of thier daddy's tartan broke me.as piper played the flowers of scotland.i never heard it before but that lone piper showed dignity and respect to all.he kissed the girls as they threw a single red rose and helped our 5 yr old let go of her tartan ribbon.never forget his kindness uk
This was the first time that bagpipes weren't an assault on my ears. In America they play at too high pitches, and oft inordinately loud. These pipes were well done !
An exceptionally wonderful display of military precision and music and a Hakka to remind us of the Autumn Rugby tests! Pleased to note that the principal conductor of the event is an officer of the Irish Guards.
Yes! What an Amazing Heartfelt performance of Bag Pipers,Dancers Horses, military Tattoo! I especially enjoyed The New Zealand's Army Band, & the last bit they did with the native New Zealand's Warriors Shouts and facial expressions,to scare off their enemies. Just in case you didn't know.Margie Nugent United States.2021 Jan.10.
What brilliant entertainment and great tribute to complement the ever great Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo and a lot more space to do the performance in for all the wonderful participants...well done everyone .. I just wish I could have been there to see it Live...keep the great work up. A wonderful treat for the people who live in Australia..Who never get to see the real tattoo in Edinburgh......
WoW NZ !! Notorious Big routine ... glad to get some Disney and Hollywood ... what a production ! The set was fabulous . Eternal Father Strong to Save was sung at my Fathers funeral... of course we had real words. Great ending !
Nice to meet you, I am Colombian ... but I cannot deny that I identify with the Scottish culture .... it hurts that in my country there are no representatives to whom I can contact to find out more .... Big hug from Colombia
It was awesome, even though it happened 3 years ago. I am of Scottish and Irish heritage, and sadly never learned how to do the Highland Fling, except briefly. I hear bagpipes and it stirs me up!!!
I believe that there is no better public parade of Troops than is set out on the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. The music is superb and the parade very well planned out. They are all a credit to their units. I love to see the lone piper on the battlements as her plays the pipes to end the parade. May this Tattoo go on for many years to come.
I stumbled upon this absolutely stunning, mesmerizing, musical, recognition tribute for the bond between Australia and Great Britain in the form of, naturally, THE honorable Military Tattoo. Even though I’m watching this in 2023 a few years late, I will ALWAYS remember all of the incredible performances, the dedication and expertise of the performers with the sounds of music accompanying my memory. Thank you Tattoo for keeping time honored respect for all to enjoy !
Question often asked? Why does this spectacular Kiwi band suddenly break into a Scots fling?..Check 'em out..Hamish..Angus..Mc Dowell,! Full of Scottish heritage!..These steaming Scots are everywhere!!..We'll all be haggised in our beds!
this was on my wish list, after seeing a sort of Military Tattoo in Ballarat, then, my wish came true, I have 3 times been to Edinburgh, it was awesome each time, I highly recommend going xxx
As a boy born in California. what is it in my DNA that brings tears to my eyes when I hear the pipes chanting Scotland the Brave. Raised from the age of 4 by a Wallace Grandmother from Ayr. Pro Libertate!
God ...me too. My DNA is Scots/Irish/ English. My heart and DNA seems to be dialed in to the pipes drums and the Irish dance. I can't explain it. I think it must be genetic. It calls me to the marrow of my bones. Always has. I'm 62!
I'm an 11th gen American but my ancestors is Munro. When I see and hear my pipes I tear up. Especially when they are wearing my tartan. May the Lord bless the fourty twa.
New Zealand Army Band is awesome! Mighty impressive! Will give my thoughts on others as I come to them. Sorry folks, but that's how I'm rolling tonight.
Superb musicianship, playing by memory, getting complex choreography step perfect, holding the instruments up ... all done in heavy formal uniform. They make it look so easy 😊
Dear Kristian...many thanks for sharing this.... at certain times i had tears in my eyes and remembered when I was in Edinburgh for the 50th tattoo it brought me sooo many pleasure to hear the pipes and drums, again... many thanks.
Saw the Tattoo on the Esplanade in 1989 and 2004, it's amazing. Loving this so far, the Castle replica is stunning. Just wondering when we get the AC/DC.
The two Kings at the entrance to Edinburgh castle , William Wallace & Robert The Bruce . Robert Burns our National Bard was never a King . Apart from that well done Australia .
I am pretty sure William Wallace was not a King either, he was a Scottish knight who became one of the main leaders during the First War of Scottish Independence.
We had one piper for my son in law aged 32 tragic accident.he stood alongside my grandaughters 5 10 and 15 all 3 holding a rose with tartan ribbon.when he played flowers of scotland to see my 5 yr old break down made grown men cry.i think the sadness of music finaly broke her.
An absolutely spine chilling performance. There are no adjectives that adequately describe what I just watched. It just made the pride in my Scottish and British ancestry come forth. My dad served in the RCAF during WWll so I feel a connection there. Even tho this was done several years ago,the video is ageless. Thank you, thank you
Really fantastic performance. I’m not British but been in London too many times , I’m an Armenian , I like to hear Scottish music specifically when the pipes play , I use the CDs in my car , I’m proud to hear that ,
I Love It, can You Love the Bagpipes any More, Absolutely YES......after going "Home" to Iona, there was a Bagpiper that used to practise at Evatt Primary, he was with the Police Band or something LIke that, No NOT the music band "The Police" but the ones concerned with Law and Order, what the World Is in Desperate Need of: and as I follow My Heart round like a rag doll , I ended up sitting on the slippery dip while he played and played some more, he stopped and asked my request, NOT telling Tales and then he would finish up , pack up his Pipes and I'd walk him home, 1/2 way to my place , his name was Tom MacDonald, we were relatives/family and we became close friends, last time I saw him I knew he was having both knees renewed and He came to visit me, I got the shock of My Life really, I looked up from the kitchen window and there was Tom he was going to have surgery, he probably came to say Goodbye, Hello Tom 😔🙏💞❤🔥, I'm sure You've re-connected with your brother, grave concerns, I hope the walking sticks helped....., raise Hell to get to Heaven. WoW, WoW and Wow
If ever there was a time when we needed another of these magnificent demonstrations of unity, respect, discipline and musicianship its this year. 16 years later. Give the ✌ to COVID lockdowns. Well done everyone concerned. Utterly beautiful. 👌👏👏👍
I’m Scottish born Australian raised in Edinburgh I love the Hakka just a thought. Through this lockdown I am watching pipe bands and and Hakka mental I know but loving it
Great Britain really puts on great military performances and this one is very special. If only I could be there in person that would be great. The Australian military are are super as well as you can see here. I have met some Aussies and they are great partiers.
Congratulations and a salute to all the participants. The sounds from the pipers and singers are releases from there heart and everyone are being moved by one spirit of unity as exemplified by the song of 4 mil officer; which I consider shld be the national anthem of planet earth. God has a reason for everything, good or bad; that covid-19 spread throughout so that the people around could justify the spiritual peace being perform in Australia vs the aggressive acts and warfreak thoughts of North Korea. Long live the peaceful but righteous brave soldiers of this world !
