Hi Steph and Oliver!!! This video just made me happy cry. You know Edisto is my Happy Place! I have vacationed here most of my 67 yrs and it never gets old. I haven't been this yr because I have been saving for my Marco Island trip next month so I really miss my Edisto so bad. That tide was super low. Not always low enough to cross to Jeremy Cay. I wish the shells were like they use to be, so thick you had to wear shoes to walk thru them. Thanks for this walk, I really needed it!!!! Do more of these walks. They are good for the soul!!

I was hoping you'd like this video. I can remember back 25 years ago, there was a family that would let us pay to launch our boat in Jeremy's Inlet. My brother and I would fish while our family walked the beach looking for shells. The beach was covered with shells back then. Enjoy your trip to Marco Island, I'm sure you will.

@@SaltyReflectionsThanks I'm sure I will! May be my last time. We drive down from Greenville so it's a long trip and Marco is quite expensive but we'll worth it. I remember when I was a child the shells were so thick on Edisto and Jeremy Cay we had to wear thick tennis shoes to walk. Mostly oysters but it was beautiful. Edisto will always have my heart!! I will watch this video over and over!!

Edisto looks the same yet a bit different since I've been there! It's been 51 years!! (1972 anyway !!) It was the first and only time we'd spent any accumulated time at the ocean. It was a long trip from Iowa to Edisto where we camped for 2 weeks, first in 1971 then the next year in 72 . I and my siblings loved it! Body surfing and she'll hunting! We found many welk shells and shark's teeth, sea pens, sand dollars , and a starfish! We fond the most welk shells after crossing that channel and the most shark's teeth at the edge of the waves. Iong to go back there some day!!

We are lucky to have plenty of dolphins to admire here in SC. They are a treat to see. I love watching them run fish up on the banks of the rivers in our area. Sometimes, they'll come completely out of the water on the banks after their catch and have to wiggle to slide themselves on our muddy banks back into the water. It's a very cool event to witness. Our area is one of the few that dolphins perform this event. I'm glad to hear you enjoyed seeing them.

I've been to Edisto twice, years ago. The exact same area where you are now. Just oyster shells on the beach. Beautiful beach but really clean. I do remember on the road driving to the beach there was a swampy area on the right. A number of dead trees. People would hang different things from those trees. If it was near a holiday there would be that specific decoration. Kind of unique. Wonder if they still do that? Your private beach where you take your boat to is the best shell beach I think. It must be too hot to go there in the summer?
@SaltyReflections
@SaltyReflections 11 месяцев назад
Yes, we spotted some of the decorations in the trees you're talking about. We've been seeing those trees decorated for years. I've never seen much trash on Edisto Beach. Man i really like you guy's channel. Yall do what my wife and I love to do, fish and hunt sharks teeth. We went to Edisto with 2 friends and our girlfriends (now wives) in 2020. Had a place rented at Nags head, but they closed the bridge.....It was nice though. Very small, uncrowded, private area which is why I chose that place. We were a few rows back from ocean front where theres a river running parallel to shore right in the backyard. Caught some decent fish out of it. Reds & trout. Didnt find a whole lot of sharks teeth, did find one nice sand tiger up high towards the dunes. The rest we found around the jetties and drain pipes. My only complaint is those no-see-ums! They straight up ran us off a fishing spot in less than 2 minutes!

I've recently discovered a video called the Obessive Beachcomber. I think he's off the coast of Australia? Takes a boat there. With his 2 dogs. There are a ton of different buoys there. Fishing nets, nautilus shells, that are perfect! He collects old fishing lures and wooden paddles. Has found bottles with messages in them and some blue glass floats. He did find a giant shell. Don't know what the name was. You both would probably know what it was. He is very selective on what he picks up. I'm going crazy with so many cool things he leaves behind! Maybe you can check him out. I think you'd enjoy watching his beachcombing?
