Edward Scissorhands (1990) movie review & analysis 

Once Burton started doing remakes and stuff is where I fell off with him his earlier work is just far superior between Edward Scissorhands and Beetlejuice I couldn't tell you which I love more.

I will second that. This is most certainly Burton's finest work. 5/5 for me as well. Awesome review Bryan

Johnny Depp definitely has that silent movie actor quality. He uses it very well. He never stops talking in Ed Wood.

Very inspiring movie

One of Burton's best. He was great back in the 80s and 90s. His post-millennium work I've not been a fan of for the most part, except for Frankenweenie, Corpse Bride and Miss Peregrine. I guess I somewhat liked Dumbo as well.

With just having Vincent Price in it is enough to make it one of the better movies of the 90's and it is definitely one of the better ones from his filmography. What I find often in Burton's films is though a bit of a letdown (or confusion perhaps), because he creates these big worlds and great sets, but the story he tells in those sets is almost like something that does not belong there, you end up expecting something totally different or grander to happen. I could almost liken Burton to a child playing in the set of Lost in space tv-show, with all the crazy monsters and space ships around him, but instead of playing a space show he would be playing a detective story and you kind of mentally expect something else to happen having seen all the props, but it never does, those sets, whatever they are, just inspire his imagination and they are not so much there to dictate what the story is going to be. But I still like Burton's films, especially the earlier ones. Cheers.

I think 10 stars for the show

I wouldn't say Kim was given the short straw, she's the only character in the entire movie that shows any character development. Though it is shallow despite being the only growth. She's cruel and lacks empathy, she tricks Edward in to doing wrong and gets him in trouble, finds out he was a simp and was flexible in his morals for her, then she loves him.

Great film. Agree its his best. My top 5 Burton

I watched this in college once and I thought it was good.
