To me he is neither a traitor nor a hero, he is a bit naive to wish that the government plays fair in the information "game", (field=war). There are people out there planning to do harm to the US by hitting the PEOPLE, the average innocent citizen, there are the home grown risk, like Timothy McVeigh and some who have the talent to create cults and to get it's followers to do what he/she wants to. I really don't see any problem in sacrifice my privacy to have these types I've mentioned above, under constant surveillance. Time to grow up guys is not us the good guys against them, the bad ones anymore. In today's world we're all bad guys, so let's pull for the team we're in and above all let's not go around the world advertising the tactics our team use, based on a notion of a false sense of higher ethics and morality.
Mario Treglia sounds good, but you fail to realize that the team you think you are on and pulling for, is treating you like the enemy and will burn you the moment it becomes convenient. Snowden is quite the opposite of naive, as his amazing anticipation of gov't action illustrates. He took a very calculated move to put the ball in the court of the people, fully realizing they would likely fumble as they have, but it was near perfect altruistic play. If we ever step up and act like a nation of people that deserve proper gov't and set the example we often claim to be for the world, then his actions will stand out like a Beacon. This is a far sight better than your resignation to join our mafia and integrate into the corruption that sustains it.
+Nicht Verfuegbar Exposing government corruption isn't heroic? If you really don't care about civil liberates, try moving to North Korea. You'll change your mind real quickly.
Edward Snowden is eloquent to THE MAX! His language is precise and his thought patterns show brilliance, clarity and a thorough understanding of the principles of freedom and liberty which are the natural state of human beings. He is a hero beyond all others before him. He should be honored throughout the world for the truth he speaks and for his actions to disclose it to humanity
Truth tellers get hunted silenced and jailed Greed and corruption get rewarded .Our Gov. has become a den of thieves and liars , and will do anything to keep the power
He never was able to do what the person they are calling the other Snowden pulled off . Snowden blew the whisle . But the other Snowden infiltrated and took down the MSM on J6 . The other Snowden did much more damage to the machine than Edward could have ever dreamed of
am i the only one thats thinking that this is the sort of person we need in government, these are the qualities that we should have in the white house not in asylum!
+chopseee Absolute power corrupts absolutely...he may stand with people over government ... but if he becomes Goverment ... its a whole cicle again. No power is innocent.
+NOOBKING That's libertarian bollocks. It's just as bad, if not worse, to let economical 'freedom' run rampant. It will _always_ lead to monopolies, and in turn they will _buy_ political power, turning democracies into oligarchies, or worse, into dictatorships. The rich want obedient slaves, the people want the opportunity for a meaningful and free life. It's a natural opposing force that can only be solved with democracy.
i know right, all his points are flawless and he speaks in such a soothing and engaging voice. He's not afraid to express his opinion and do what is right which is why he is in asylum. America is so fucked.
Agree. And I can also give another example of a person that will make a great difference in the future world; Peter Joseph (maker of the Zeitgeist trilogy). There you have another really intelligent person.

@@stormwilliams3347 Meaning you don`t believe in the constitution. Ed blew the whistle when someone broke the Constitution. If you mean that Snowden is a traitor , that is you saying: I don`t belive in the American constitution.
I'm from europe. In my opinion he's a kind of hero and he deserves a lot of respect and support! He is one of the good guys! HE SHOULD BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT
I definitely agree that Edward Snowden is one of the good guys. One of the very few. He is very smart and very brave. I sure wish he could be President... that's what we need for America to ever be what it was intended to be. It's even scary just writing this. Freedom of speech isn't what it's supposed to be. Snowden isn't a criminal. The criminals were exposed, but the ones with so much power.
As an analytical thinker, communicator and recovering professional journalist, I can thoroughly appreciate Ed Snowden's take on the benefits of using pseudonyms when releasing potentially incendiary ideas to the greater population. Fairly sure we both know that no critical thinking goes unpunished in America these days. Mission 1: Stay safe!
Much thanks to Reason, The Free State Project, & the Liberty Forum for having the courage and insight to make this event possible and the video available to all \m/
His statement about accountability is how I have always felt about government and corporate entities, the day I realized they dont answer to the very laws they enforce on us was the day the whole system ceased to have any value to me, they dont serve the people so why would I serve them.
Very intelligent young man, I support what he did and I would vote for him as president! We need a transparent government and we need to make this happen as a united people.
Snowden is so comfortable in his IT knowledge that he can relate it in simple terms effortlessly. He not only understands the hardware, progamming and encryption, he understands the social and political implications and how dangerous these technology are. In my opinion, he should be an advisor to the UNSC in developing international policies and electronic restriction applications that prevent misuse.
I perceive Edward Snowden as highly intelligent and one hell of a hero in our time, without using violence as a means to achieve what he chooses as truth. It's also very interesting to see how Edward is slowly moving forward, beginning to answer questions that are far from the subject of his "coming out" with our private cyberspace invasion proof. To see the projection of people asking questions here, showing a need for a savior. It's always tricky to be in the position where he's in, I think. I hope he knows where to draw the line. I'm not too worried though ;)
The era of 'Minority Report' is already upon us. Thank you, Edward Snowden, for clarifying, confirming and substantiating my beliefs and assertions for the last two decades !
I will NEVER forget when I looked in his eyes on the cover his book and what I perceived in my spirit and what the Holy spirit revealed to me when they sued him over his book. I dnt know the big picture this man plays a part in my life somewhere dwn the rd in the near future.
I couldn't help but feel incredibly sad when he half-smiled and said, "I look forward to seeing you in New Hampshire". He knows that he'll probably never see New Hampshire (or any state for that matter) ever again.
If I were president I would issue a full pardon to Edward Snowden welcome him back into the US and personally hug him. Then I would see what I could do about getting this man an award. He is a true american hero and he deserves to be applauded for defending our freedom and privacy not condemned.
+blank blank Not to be cynical but you would never be elected for that reason, kindness and being respectable are not traits that are fitting for a U.S. president.
Damn this man is well spoken and conversant on a variety of topics. Obviously he finds many things of interest and pursues advanced understanding of those interests to speak so eloquently to the entire topics evolution not just in support of his preferred interpretation. But specifically I feel that his thorough command of those topics concerning privacy, liberty, legality, justice and more we broadly define as freedom--comparing and considering the weight of risk he would be required to take in providing proof crimes had been committed not just accusations they may have, plus the cost of sacrifices that would be required he make in doing so and that he decided himself less important and expendable, contrary to all instincts of self preservation still chose to deny himself the natural and basic desire to act in self interest that is inherent to us all--to deter his goal to obtain and make available to all people was in the best interest of all people is proof that his dilemma was considerable and that his stated beliefs and purposes which motivated him were the greater value and his duty to the unique ability his position provided and by which it was possible for him to do it. I've seen people angry and disbelieving of and denying his generosity because they said he enjoyed the attention or obviously had profited financially and was not the Samaritan he seemed. But no real claims or allusions to that end have been made by the Government, none except perhaps at the very early period when speculation rampant, opinions were stated as if fact by people without clearance nor status to make such claims. And very telling it is that the one entity most benefiting if the claim was made quickly had abandoned the notion of doing it. I am of the theory that accomplishing such a herculean task, and the successful manner in which it was done must feel gratifying. Let us not forget that if as he claims his hope to open a debate and to encourage the peoples interest in and participation in determining the fate of these issues was paramount in the decision process to take the risks and accept sacrifice has in fact been achieved on a scale he doubtful thought was possible would cause the most stoic person beam with pride and feel satisfaction even vindication that doing the right thing was the right thing to do? Hell yeah, it has to be. Who would do what he has done not knowing if it could be done and unsure that the seeds would bear fruit if it was done and uncertain the fruit would be edible and enjoyed by those whom it had been planted for. Near to none, perhaps only one. I could not dare to deny him his relief, his pleasure and satisfaction or any other gains he receives provided they are not carried on the back or paid with blood of the innocent. Now if any who in willful compliance and deliberate defiance to the best interests of the people and the Rights provident in natural law suffer any burdens that is in my opinion justice measured and sentenced. I really won't care and will likely be pleased. Judgement should never be substitute for consideration, rush not toward a guilty verdict and with thoughtful reason hold innocence protected until innocence proved dead, then be certain that all claims hold to truths provided then know the verdict is justified as well as legal--this is Justice worthy of all respectful that all are worthy of Justice or none are.
well put, both about Snowden and about justice. The idealist in me knows he should be pardoned and lauded, but the realist in me knows he could be stuck in Russia for awhile.... So, if I fly in, is it possible to visit??

erintreez him or me? I'm sure there must be a way to propose the question. But whom, how, and whether you'd want to inquire further you should seek to answer direct. It would be reasonable to assume that inquiry's will be noticed, that may be more cumbersome to you than you'd like. Good luck, Thanks for the compliment
ElPocho DelMundo Yes, there is I suspect in all of us an up-welling of self doubt and insecurity when listening to him speak and express not only knowledge of things, but of idealism, belief, confidence, humility, bravery and any other number of descriptors. But he is just a man, another person with the same needs, wants and fears I suspect as any of us. That and an high level understanding of computer engineering. I think an important difference between his seemingly faultless image and our own is the sure knowledge we have that his choices put him at danger and he chose risk vs. security. I presume his certainty was that dangerous knowledge of others choices, he'd been allowed or was unpreventable to access would imprison and destroy him eventually. We all know that as long as we are useful and behave life is smoother but if that changes we become burdened (punished), expendable (threatened), to targeted (attacked) and when the security of those above is at risk it's a thin line of difference. He had no real choice, and as he expressed concerns and that met resistance, the dangers coalesced clearly and focused his reality. Assuming that the narrative is real, and it has passed scrutiny to appear genuine imo. The machinations of the players always start to fail because to many smart thinkers with big egos are involved. It isn't a matter of could or would we do the same as he did. It's would we have concerned ourselves with the knowledge or ignored it existed completely. It's important to note that people opt for the GED for many reasons and as a metric of intelligence is not reliable. That is more of a programmed judgement, than reflective reality. What I believe is more accurate is many who go this route have reason or needs other than school to pursue, and these are not necessarily included in the larger majority whose poor performance in school is due to boredom, the lack of a challenging and stimulating environment, or rebellion to the obey, stay and memorize model of educational advancement. In all I think very few with mental deficiencies or disabilities actually obtain the GED. I could be wrong though.

+Hey I think you should worry about working on your common core English skills instead of worrying about an actual spy. The plural pronunciation of spy is "spies".
Here is one of the most lucid thinkers today. And it is so fortunate that he comes from the hacker/tech world, where usually many are so cynical and proudly apolitical (just think of High-frequency trading programmers or millionaire start-up wannabes). We need voices like this one.

Wow, what a fantastic and timely interview. Here's hoping that a day will come when Snowden, Assange, Manning - and Elsberg - can all sit down around a campfire somewhere in New Hampshire and swap stories over a beer as free men.
Not only should we be organizing ourselves into a political party , but also looking to create a movement . One where we educate ourselves and help educate each other , and become a group of people with a sense of purpose , a group of people with courage , a group of people with dignity . God Bless
Government can't stand that somebody caught and proved they are lying, call him what you want but you can not deny he caught um lying and guess what they still are.
I would do anything to ask his dad and mom questions about how he was raised. How you raise a child to be fearless, eloquent, unselfish, and so confident. You may disagree with the unselfish, but the rest you can't denied even if you don't like what he did.
How can you disagree with the unselfish? He put his life on the line to expose the unconstitutional things the government was doing. Bravest, most selfless man in our time.
"How does government gain back the trust and confidence of the American people?" My response: You shouldn't allow them to. You should never trust any government under any circumstances. Only when you trust someone can they break your trust.
How does government win back the people’s trust? “Accountability, I mean the whole idea behind the divide and in the simple language of a private citizen and a public official is that we know everything about them and they know nothing about us because they’re invested with powers and privileges that we don’t have. They have the ability sort of direct the future of society and as a result it is incumbent upon them to assume a level of responsibility and accountability to the public for the exercise and abuse of those authorities. It simply does not exist today and that’s the problem.” -Edward Snowden Damn...
There are pockets of rational thinking in the US. A good people who are recognizing the corruption of government. America is more than its government. Keep up the good work. Namaste and care, America, mhikl
Mr. Snowden I watched the movie after years of reading about you i kept asking myself , why is the usa govt so interested in this guy. As i read i found over an over , you had concerns in morality. i also found you were trying to allow USA citizens to be aware of our privacy acts. I found i agreed totally with each research. i wish more people would listen to you . i wish you best and im one of many trying to wake people up. God bless you sir
I admire and respect the wisdom, integrity and courage of Edward Snowden. Especially for his age. I also admire and respect our government, however they should be held accountable to the citizens freedom and protection. They have an ethical social responsibility to the American people that is not driven by greed.
@Kelp Farming so rude comment......haha😄 But no effect but only on yourself, life still goes on, Anyway , you can't change amendment, thanks for the highlights✌
