i’m doing the greek islands with EF in 11 days!!!! this was so helpful! For the extra things your tour guide planned for y’all was that when you got to athens and they presented options? Just want to make sure we shouldn’t be booking some of this ourselves!
Aw I’m so glad it was helpful!! So for us, our tour guide emailed us the extra things planned like 2 weeks beforehand. I don’t think all TDs do that though- they may just offer this to you guys once you get there! They’ll collect the money in person. If you want, you can always reach out to EF and see if they can give you any more details☺️
Totally understandable! Just know that everyone else feels the same way, it’ll be a blast. I’m so excited for your first trip! Remember to book your trip using the link in the video’s description so you’ll activate a $100 discount! If you’ve already booked, you can contact EF and ask them to add code “UAPaige100” onto your account and you’ll get the discount. Let me know if you have any questions 🤗
This looks amazing!! super helpful breakdown. I am doing this trip with EF in July. If you have them saved, would you be able to share the names of some of the food spots you visited?
Hi!! So I don’t remember the one we ate at in Athens but here are the others: Thira, Santorini: Rastoni Oia, Santorini: Apsithia Paros (next to hotel, where we got our extra included meal): Ouzeri Apostolis Restaurant we went to in Naousa, Paros: Axinos Mykonos, next to our Hotel and in the Beach Club: Paradise Beach Club gyro stand- not the table service!!!! Walk past this until you see little convenience stores. These gyros are $3- table service gyros are $15 🥲 Mykonos, in the City: Promenade
I think I ended up spending between $80-100 per day! I am not a huge drinker or a souvenir person so that was enough for the extra excursions and plenty of food and tipping
Hey ! Thank you for providing the names of the accommodations because this is one of my fears when booking with EF, not initially knowing the names of the hotels. After looking them up, I am a bit concerned. Ive traveled with Ultimate Break to the Dominican Republic and there was one hotel I wasn’t too fond of but I overall enjoyed the trip. The Moxy looks really nice but Do you feel as if the others are outdated? If so, Do you think this trip is worth the price because I can’t imagine paying and experiencing multiple hotels I don’t like?
Hi! No problem! So I went on the ultimate plus version so I can’t speak to the standard Greece trip accommodations. I felt like the Moxy and the Mykonos hotels were very high end. The Paros and Santorini weren’t as fancy but I wouldn’t say they were bad quality. My biggest issue was the breakfasts at those hotels weren’t nearly as good as the others but food is so cheap and I’m not a big breakfast person that it didn’t really matter to me. Even though I haven’t done the standard version, I would say I think it’s worth the price because with the UP you get nicer hotels, an additional meal, and only 1 roommate so I think the price difference between UP and standard ends up paying for itself in that regard.
This also happened to be my issue. I just got back from London and Paris, and in Paris we stayed at a hostel that was absolutely terrible and it made me question. What exactly did I spend my money on? So currently I’m looking at booking a Greek island trip with friends and one of them has booked a standard trip but I do not want to stay in a hostel I’m 32 😂
Thank you for the overview! I’m actually planning to go to European summer next year for 35 days. I’m going to Greece. I’m curious the included dinner is it prefix meal or could you pick what you want?
So for every included meal we had 3-4 options. Each options included a different appetizer. All included wine/water/beer and dessert. The meal options were usually a fish option, a vegetarian/vegan option, or a chicken or beef option. So you picked your meal from those predetermined options 🤗
@@atravelingpaige_ Oh that's great! I was thinking of going in early June but wasn't sure if it would be warm enough at that time to go swimming. How was the weather when you were there?
I am always a carry on and personal item kind of girl! I am too scared of losing my luggage on connecting flights 😂 I used my backpack as my personal item and using packing cubes helps A TON! You’re moving cities pretty frequently so if lugging heavy suitcases everywhere bothers you, definitely go with packing cubes and a carry on 🤗
Hi! So I’d say the average age was 26. Everyone ranged from 23-28. Since we were on the ultimate plus version, I’d say the trip tended to attract people who were a bit older compared to those who would book the standard trip version. Hope this helps!
If you choose to do other things besides what's planned is that okay? I can sometimes be a picky person and have certain things that I want to do while I’m there. I can sometimes be a picky person and I have certain things that I want to do while I’m there I don’t always I don’t know who you say I want to do what they have planned. Did they get irritated by that? is doing the plus version worth it?
Yes you can definitely go your own thing! Just let your tour director know what you’re planning to do because they’re responsible for your safety. Downloading WhatsApp will let you message them like a text! No one gets irritated, you’re paying for your trip so you can make it what you want! Everything is optional minus when you move from city to city of course. I think the plus version is worth it because I went with my husband so I’d either go on the essential version and pay to upgrade to only one roommate or go on the plus and not have to upgrade rooming because you only have 1 roommate with plus so the price difference is the same and with plus you get an extra meal and upgraded hotels! With the essential you’ll have 3-5 roommates so it’s a quicker way to meet people if you don’t mind sharing a room! I’ve done it and had no issues. The essential is also only hostels but I’ve done that for a trip before and they were still nice hostels so 🤷🏼♀️
It depends! You know your spending habits best. I averaged about $80 a day but I don’t really buy souvenirs or do a ton of drinking so that helps cut a lot of costs. If you have things you want to splurge on, like getting a tattoo or something, that also increases your spending. Just don’t forget to budget to tip your tour directors and local guides! They do so much for you and really make the trip special. I’d say $80-$100 a day is a safe amount. Food is also very inexpensive over there so a full Gyro, which I had for most lunches, was around $4. So good!!
So EF suggests like $100 a day for this trip and I found I spent about $80 a day. I am not a huge souvenir person and spent most of this on food, drinks, and extra activities our tour director planned. I had about $150 left at the end of the trip that I used to tip our tour director. Tipping your tour director at the end is highly encouraged because they do sooo much for you. You know your spending habits best but food and drinks are pretty cheap there so unless you’re an avid shopper, I think $100 a day is perfect.
Hi! So I can’t speak to Contiki trips since I’ve never been on one. However, EF is aimed towards Americans and in my experience, I have only ever had Americans on my trips. I have heard of a few Canadian people using EF but besides that, just Americans.
