Efficient & Practical With A Hint of Fun | 2023 Lexus UX 250h Quick Take Review

The Lexus UX is far from the sportiest entry in the segment but thanks to a now standard hybrid system it's certainly the most efficient. Add in AWD and the F-Sport handling package and it'll make you smile on a winding road, but it won't win any stoplight races...

I got a 2022 Lexus UX250H and it's amazing. 33,000 km in one year. Currently getting 5.0 per 100 km fuel economy. Amazing car and reliable. So easy to maintain do all maintenance myself.

We bought the 2020 UX200 (non hybrid). It has passed 36,000 miles flawlessly. 31 mpg from Day 1 (70% hwy). This is a car for one or two people. Not a family hauler. The car still looks showroom perfect and it lives outside. Paid $32k. Great value.

As far as Canada: If you're shopping for a hybrid SUV there's actually very few options. The UX isn't perfect but it has enough space for most people who are interested in it. I had a GX460 and the fuel bill was half a mortgage payment - and guess what? The reviewers and people still were critical about the cargo space and the passenger compartment LOL The NX hybrid pricing is now out to lunch, people pretending that for "just a few thousand more you can get a NX" are armchair shopping based on old pricing. There's also not many good quality used ones for sale. Then there's the Toyota Hybrids, many dealers are still adjusting and allocating their top Hybrids with long waits, those prices are out to lunch too. I purchased a 2023 Lexus UX250h Luxury AWD last week for $3K less than a 2023 Toyota Corolla Hybrid XSE AWD with the price adjustment they were trying to get for the Toyota. As far as the Europeans competitors? Sure more space and speed, but don't think many people own them off warranty, with the Lexus you defintely can feel comfortable with its superior reliability. Then they all have terrible fuel economy compared to the UX. Like everything else in life, pick your poison.

I just love seeing that your cruising around belle isle. I’d honestly take the new Prius prime over this with cash left over and 44-39 miles EV range… or regular Prius awd. Both are just a better deal for small backseat hybrids.

Great review! It makes me wonder how most people prioritize car buying. We prioritized mileage, and size for our dogs, with luxury coming in second. In that respect, we looked at the Lexus, but compared it to things like the Rav 4, and CR-V hybrids. Each of those still has a good amount of, what we wanted in luxury (conveniences like safety systems, wireless Android, comfortable seats, etc.), and they compared very well in price. While the Lexus was a definite possibility, the Audi and Mercedes weren't even considered due to their poor mileage. Is our shopping outside the norm, or do people shop differently now? Do they just look for something like a sub-compact SUV and compare them all, or they look at other aspects the change the metrics of traditional car-shopping. Just an interesting question.

The interior pretty much mimics that of the ES given that the seats and steering wheel are the exact same and the general dash layout is remarkably similar. To correct the statement about there being no button for A/C, it will *not* automatically come on as it is a setting that needs to be toggled in the infotainment screen. This is the same for the ES and one of my few gripes about it.

Too ugly, too many subpar interior materials, and too little cargo space to be taken seriously as a CUV, luxury or otherwise. The drivetrain is very good, and it should be highly reliable, but that's about all it has to recommend it. Might as well get a much roomier Corolla Cross Hybrid and save some money, or get any other compact hatchback.

@markmiller3279
@markmiller3279 Год назад
Not all of us need larger cars. We live in a city and have a tight garage space. A Venza would be a squeeze, and anything larger impossible. We rarely use the rear seat for anything but short drives, with shorter people back there, so rear seat space is no big deal as long as an adult can fit with a little cooperation. Our current car is about this size and is fine. I'm more bothered by the cramped cargo space, but in practice it would do. It just doesn't look efficiently packaged, given how much space is before the load floor. Yeah, I know the battery is in front of that, but they should have either included a mini spare or made the load floor do something to make that space under it more useful. The problem isn't the size, but the price for the features and material quality. And the hideous styling.
