Relatively cold start 2007 CCLB LBZ Duramax in a GMC Sierra 2500hd. Exhaust consists of a t304 stainless PPE downpipe into a t409 stainless Magnaflow 5" straight pipe into a MBRP black 5x7x18" axle dumped tip. Full HSP egr/grid heater delete with hot and cold side HSP grey powdercoated intercooler pipes, HSP Y-bridge, and HSP manifolds and modified up pipes. EFI Live by Idaho Rob (TCM & ECM)

Sir - love the truck. Did you remove the spare tire for the axel dump? Also, I have had efi live by Idaho rob. I just had PPE build my trans with their stage 5 kit. Should I call up rob and have him tune my TCM?

johnsta83 absofuckinglutely....you can push your max effort tune up from 125-150 to a built trans tune that's like 200-220...he can raise the limiter on the transmission too

johnsta83 and I removed the spare because the drop down mechanism was shot to shit like most of them are. I cut the original class 3 dinky little hitch out and put in a class V.

Hey man. I have an LBZ and I’m wanting to do a tune but I’m looking to get rid of that hiss and get a rumble at idle. Do you have any recommendations of where to look. What to do. Who I should buy from. Does every EFI live do that? This may seem like a really basic question but this is my first diesel and while I’ve been around them my whole life, I’ve never explored into anything after market with them.

The biggest way to get rid of the hiss is to change the VGT turbo to a fixed vane like a Borg Warner. That hissing is the vane positions changing. There are guys that used to make “smoke” tunes that made the truck sound like it was a V8 with a big cam in it but they’re horrible for the truck and more just for show.

@@DanEvan so u didn’t ask for a rumble tune or anything with it? I think I’m gonna go with Duramax tuner EFI live I’m just trying to find a truck with a 5 inch straight and their EFI so I can hear what it sounds like.

Curious to what your truck puts down on the dyno with the stock turbo? Looking at doing the same upgrades you did on your lbz to my lly thanks!

Ryan Kurtz I'd say the truck puts down around 550hp/1000+ lb. ft of torque to the wheels with the built trans and corresponding tune. Something that's commonly overlooked when getting a built trans is the fact that you can have the same supporting mods, but most tuners will not only tune the TCM to be optimized, but your max effort tune goes from around a 120hp (or 150 in my case) to 220hp. That 550 mark is pretty much the limit with the stock turbo/injectors/cp3....but with the built trans you just feel the power being transferred so nicely with no slipping

Thanks for the quick response. When I graduate college I hope to get the L5P. yours is a beauty. I figured it was around 550 with IC piping and all that. I wasn't gonna go as far as you did with up pipes but was gonna do driver side lml manifold. Who built your trans? I agree TCM tuning is a must!

Ryan Kurtz sorry for the late reply Ryan- Limitless Diesel built my transmission. They’re the absolute best in the northeast (especially late model Allisons)
