That white sticky sap is latex. The riper the fruit the less latex. Bought seeds from Fruit Lover's nursery and one survived. It's about a foot high now. Can't wait for it to fruit.

I love egg fruit because it reminds me of my childhood when I was growing up in Vietnam. I missed eating of egg fruit.

Hi Wendy today I was eating a Eggfruit and I thought about you. My eggfruit has a texture Similar to a pumpkin but very sweet and custardly. It was so delicious. My favorite spapote is the Black Sapote, it tastes like chocolate to me and it God's perfect candy for humanity 🙂. It is amazing how many people have never tried these delectable fruits. One fruit that is hard to get is the Wood Apple, it has a similar texture to the egg fruit with a dark brown appearance. It is so delicious and I tried these in India. I wanted to let you know you have a great channel🙂

Hello, thank you for sharing you have introduced me to so many greens and fruits I have never heard of, I will have to rewatch your videos one day with a notebook! Lol can you do a video explaining what zones mean and how to learn what zone your in please. I live in Michigan and am moving to Arizona in July and I am trying to prepare myself to have a garden when I get there. Any information you can offer would be helpful, thanks!😍

The creaminess must make this an ideal fruit for preparing smoothies or popsicles. I wonder if it tastes as good as it looks. I love sugary fruits.

@Wendi, I now see your video while searching for the egg fruit plant lol. I never knew about this fruit, but someone in San Diego gave me one to try ….omg it tasted delicious as if I was eating sweet creamy cake or something lol. I think there are different verities, and the type that I tried was more elongated….more like the one that you had in VN.

Is there a way to make them ripen quickly?

Egg fruit grows wild in Kerala state in India . many in Kerala don't like its taste , ripe fruit drops on the ground and splits open , strangely, the big fruit bats don't eat egg fruit. I eat it because it is good for health.

I've always wanted to try one of these. It looks so delicious ;-; It's a shame they aren't grown here in the states commercially somehow. Maybe one day. I see a someone comment here they grew one in their backyard so I guess it can happen that way. Although, as you mentioned the fruit's skin is delicate the transporting to grocery stores even domestically would be pretty difficult.

I wish I would have watched this video earlier. I bought one of these a couple days ago and it wasn't ripe (but I didn't know that.) It was hard and the sap got all over my hands and knife and let me tell ya, that stuff is sticky and hard to get off. And the taste was horrible. I know better now. Might have to try it again someday.
