Thank you very much for the test. Its very helpful. I will be buying one, with the backpack link and 7.5s I bought recently.

Kite Army i have 7.5s for the snowblower and the backpack link removes a lot of weight off the handheld tools. 4 pounds less than using the 5ah. I would not need more than 5ah from what I see, they have as much energy as we have stamina..!

I was a tree trimmer for 12 years. If that saw was available at the time, I would have certainly purchased and used it as my primary saw, knowing it would make that many cuts. I would have purchased 2 batteries and been absolutely perfect all day long. Another great video Andrew! Keep them coming! (Especially when it comes to the EGO products. Ahem, like their new 1” capacity hedge trimmer…Ahem.)

I recently cut down three trees the smallest was 11, 14, and 17 at the base with my 16 inch ego saw. I used two 7.5 amp hour and one 5.0 amp hour. That included all limbing, bucking, and stumping. It really is power beyond belief!

Just a tip... Using one battery until it dies and immediately recharging is bad for battery health. I swap batteries midway to cut down on heat and let them completely cool before recharging. Heat is the all around enemy. That's why I like the sequential charging of the Nexus. I also don't use their rapid charger, because I have plenty of batteries.

I just used the 18" Ego chainsaw for the first time bucking up some fallen trees in the woods while clearing access trails to my deer hunting stands. I was able to make approximately 30-40 cuts through 16" diameter, hardened ash on a single charge of a 5.0 Ah battery. For sake of comparison, I would say that one 5.0 Ah battery gave me approximately the same run time as a tank of gas would have in my 16" gas-powered Poulan Woodshark.

Thanks for the review. I’ve been wanting this. Having trouble with my ego trimmer today. I’m wondering if anyone else has had this issue. I’m pretty sure it’s 4 years old. The battery has a 2017 date on it. Anyway.... I pull the trigger and it will run 1-3 min and cut off. I hit the trigger again and it fires right back up. I kept going like this for 30 min when the battery died. Nothing has been modified. I’m using it as directed, other than it has smaller dia string in it right now. That’s no big deal though.

Just buy a second battery with the larger 7.5 amp hour rating and it's not a problem. I have several of the ego tools that I bought over time so I've got a couple batteries and the 5 and a 7.5 got me through an entire hard oak tree with power to spare. Honestly if you have two batteries and you're not a lumberjack it'll cover pretty much any job.

Industry standard for number of cuts is using a 4x4. That branch appeared to be 7 to 8 inches. Yes a 4x4 is soft wood and yoir ido not know. I cant wait to add the 18" chainsaw to my line up. I currently have a 16" 58v poulan pro ( now discontinued) they clim 325 cuts on a 4x4 with one charge. I believe it. It is a great saw especially considering on clearence i paid $130. Still want the ego though. Keep the ego at home with all the rest of my ego tools and the poulan pro in my car for those rare occasions when a saw is needed. Ie. I bought one just like this, lasted about like your demo here for small to medium sized, but when I tried it on a 24" sugar maple tree, from a full charge to dead with a sharp chain, it only lasted 6-7 cuts!! I asked the Ego folks about maybe I got a old battery that was a bit tired but they said this sounded normal and refused to get me a new battery. I guess I'm ok with that but has anyone else tried larger trunks like what I did? 6-7 cuts still seems too little!
