That was unbelievable. How do you have the balls to decide, "I'm gonna get up under a 600 pound dude, balance his entire body onto my shoulder, and then I'm gonna explode 1100 pounds of dude upwards while spinning so he hits the ground first by a fraction of a second?" SHEESH.
When I saw that the other day, one of my first thoughts was "this would be a really cool Jomboy breakdown." Glad to see Jimmy was already aware of it and planning on talking about it
His name is actually Ura Kazuki, his rank is Komusubi. he is an amazing wrestler to watch because a lot of his fighting is unconventional. one of my all time favorites!
The way Jomboy says "Firebirds versus Stags!" warms my heart, as though anyone attaches any meaning to those words other than the small number of New Zealanders who actually watch domestic cricket.
Espn has the international broadcast rights, so there some randos like this American that watch NZ cricket, actually watching it while I was home with my second kid got me into cricket.
Also, kind of an "old man" addition to this... My youngest is 6. While having my kids get older and become smarter and more fascinating is rewarding in itself, and you don't miss the ugly side of toddlers once they outgrow it, but you do end up missing all those "little kid" things once they're gone.
Huge sumo fan here. Never miss a day during each basho. Ura is awesome! Huge fan favorite!! Didn't have the best tournament in Jan., but he's still such an incredible rikishi. And he's doing this on essentially 1 leg after having ACL surgery on his right knee. Big props to Ura!!
I can't claim I'm an OG on this channel, but I did become a very regular viewer before this particular "Things You Missed" series existed. a) I strongly like this series, and b) the mouth-sounds intros are a huge part of the identity of this series. Never stop.
Ura is a wonderful wrestler, actually my favourite among the top rankers. Thank you for highlighting his ultimate technique. It's a low percentage move, but it's a total finisher if he hits it.
Former Portuguese colony with a language and vibe pretty similar to Brazil, as well as a disapora of hard working, friendly people who can be found the world over. Check out the song "Sodade" by Cesária Évora for a timeless piece of Cape Verdean culture. 🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻
Doing great Jimbo, good to see little James cameo on this one bc you can tell he’s stoked to be with his daddy for whatever video you played in front of him
Aww man, I feel like it was yesterday you were including baby pictures of james in your videos, now he's growing up so fast! My oldest is 4 and it feels like she was a one year old 2 days ago haha. I want those times back :)
Love the Ura shoutout lol. This January tournament had so much going on. A potential 3 way run for the title with, Kirishima gunning for a potential promo to Yokozuna, Kotonowaka promo to Ozeki and just losing out to the Yokozuna Terunofuji for the tournament championship. Komosubi is also Ura’s rank. Unfortunately he won’t be that rank next tournament. If you watch anything watch the final three bouts for Day 15
That was the greatest sumo move I’ve ever seen. I used to watch a bunch of sumo in early 2000s on espn, and never saw anything that magnificent. I wish it was easier to watch in the us. It’s a great sport, especially if you learn a bit of the ins and outs and how the rankings work.
That particular winning technique by Ura has been used 4x since 1950, and 2 are Ura. He only went 6-9 this tourney but used 6 different winning techniques
That Sumo throw was incredible, the strength you have to have to do something like that, to someone that massive is the most athletic thing I’ve seen lol
In US folkstyle wrestling we'd call that a fireman's carry. Except, we are allowed to hit the ground, and use the the ground to finish the move. The fact he did with only his feet touching the ground is incredible.
Your son is so cute, man i swear we are so similar when it comes to being a dad, if my wife saw him it would be right back to bed, me its hey let me show you this amazing catch, or this amazing whatever! Jimmy its been fun watching you go from timid guy trying something and being scared to spend the loan given to building a company and starting an empire and becoming a family. I hope you continue to thrive, and we will be here to enjoy it! Great job sir!
Ura (pronouced oo-ra) is such a fun wrestler to watch, had a rough tournament in January but hopefully will bounce back. He's also just a really nice guy in interviews.
Hey Jimmy, in the handball part that wasn’t a penalty shot it was just a free shot similar to a free kick in soccer. Penalty shots are wild tho, you’re only allowed to be on one leg
