EL QUESTRO GORGE - Kombi surfing across VERY deep water crossing.

Well we certainly pushed our Kombi to its limits here, taking on a 900 deep water crossing, whilst towing our mate on his surf board! You'll have to watch to see how the Kombi does in this challenge :)
But the area just isn't about the challenging 4WD tracks, there are also some beautiful walks and swimming spots around El Questro. We loved taking in the tropical surrounds of the El Questro Gorge walk and the moonshine swimming hole.

I have a 69 kombi and once put snow chains on it and towed a skier with a rope up a snow covered road . We passed a 4x4 who was stuck. Got a chuckle out of it.

I knew the kombi would make it through, big advantage having the motor at the back. Well done. I use to have an old G60 patrol used smear of silicon around the bottom of the distributor cap and leads, was able to drive the G60 through water over the bonnet

Hey Karstan years ago When I had a Mini Moke I used a washing up Glove which I used over the distributer cap first I would spray RP7 then install the washing up glove and then use electrical insulating tape around the cables worked every time never had an issue. Hope this helps when you are going through water

The Kombi gets a good bow wave going which is pushing a lot of water away from the engine as you power through, a mighty effort none the less. Now go get a Datsun 180B and do it.

I always used a rubber glove over the dissy and a HT lead through each finger of the glove. Tie the glove at the bottom of the dissy with a cable tie
