Excellent system! I also have a set of Mirage OMD5's in my LR with a set of Mirage Omnisats (v1) as rear surrounds, a Mirage MM6 subwoofer and an Ascend Acoustics CMT340 as center speaker. I'm going to get the ELAC to use with my Mirage Nanosats in my office.
alfmeister13 Noice! This setup doesn’t lend itself to a center channel but with the OMD-5’s I really don’t miss it. Nanosat Prestige for surrounds. Took some creative thinking to get my Marantz surround receiver to work with my vintage hk 340 (pulled it out of a dumpster like 25 years ago, replaced the fuses). Excellent sound in a rather difficult room.
alfmeister13 How do you like the MM6? Been tempted to grab an MM8 off eBay. The 1010 was actually a gift for a friend, my regular sub is an Energy ESW-8 that I paid $99 brand new from Audio Advisor if memory serves me right, that sub never ceases to impress me.
@@MWorsa The MM6 is amazing. It's tiny but fills a medium sized room. I have it next to a china cabinet and when watching an action movie it rattles the glass! You are almost as big a fan of API products as me. Too bad Klipsch bought them and proceeded to shut them down. Klipsch did revive the omnipolar design in the Jamo S25 and S35 speakers and they they sound really good and look like works of art.
finally a video on this compact sub...I know it can't do much below 38HZ...but is it punchy? sort of well defined bass? better than lets say the Polk PSW10? thanks
I wouldn’t pay attention to the specs. This is a phenomenal sub. If you’re not concerned with 7 layers of black lacquer, this bests a REL T/5i. The REL might have the tiniest amount better pitch definition but I’ve also heard it hit its stops. This sub never bottomed out whilst in my possession (it went on to its subever home to my friend Phillip where it lives a comfortable, free-range life 🙂).
@@MWorsa Thanks so much...yeah...I can't really afford a SVS sub that goes to 18hz! but as long as it gives me a well defined bass I'll be fine I think..One day I will get a SVS for my home theatre but for now I need something semi decent...glad to hear the sub is alive and kicking!! LOL
oml... I just bout this sub. 10/10 that is the model name after all! do not hesitate to buy, instead of buying a 300 dollar sub buy 2 of these. first day and already got a complaint from the neighbor
Good review I have a Onkyo integrated amp without subwoofer connections will it connect to a 2 channel amp without subwoofer connections? Also nice set up Congrats Update my subwoofer arrived today and I am very very pleased with it especially considering that I payed$119 for it I'm sure in few more days it will perform even better almost spent$599 for a SVS SUBWOOFER, 😆😂 Lol almost thank you man. Update mines arrived a few weeks ago and I have to say that honestly it's under priced that is how good it is again thanks for the review.
It does have spring terminal clips (not 5 way binding posts) for speaker level inputs but does not have pass through so you’ll have to split your signal. You could achieve this by running the sub on a speaker B output from your receiver.
I just uploaded an unboxing video of this subwoofer with brief instructions on how to connect it to a stereo receiver. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D6ilEqelhUU.html
@@thomasward00 Start at volume 50% and crossover at 80hz and go from there, keep adjusting crossover down until it blends with the minx and then adjust volume to your liking.
Returned the second sub because of faint buzzing when idle, bought a Martin Logan 400D for $399 on Sale and it's awesome, it goes great with the Minx XL's in my bedroom. The Elac is nice but the low level buzzing didn't work in a bedroom setting at night.
Its 109.98 on amazon today. Just ordered one and a set of elac debut b6's. And an emotiva basx ta 100 from emotiva. If i like it im going to get another one.
