@@smokeychickenwings1038 ah good to know. I tried rotting them, but they're apparently immune to it for some reason, yet it's fine for that special-needs NPC to throw rot pots at you constantly.
The sword itself has a damage frame which is the 600 to 700 damage you see from time to time, this part of the weapons can be I-framed however the grab itself ignores I-frames, that’s why the damage is so different from time to time!
This, also I think the hitbox for the grab is bigger than the initial hit is, which is why most of the unexpected ranged grabs don't get the initial damage
Those noises of excitement after Chase hit that crazy from-the-top-rope critical are exactly why we needed the DLC so badly. So much content to learn, experiment with, and just have fun with!
A chase down roll catching somber claymore who's ash of war gives you near free critical hits with a safety follow up if you miss. It's like this weapon was made for Chase
4:13 That moment was amazing. I feel joy when you punish those Malenia spammers. It was even more satisfying to see you outright defeat/cancel his water fowl move with your L2, and you did it with style.
You're good enough to where you should be styling on them by sacrificing a talisman slot to appear as a host or phantom. I remember back in DS3 days when that was the meta for anyone with skill.
@@EmilKlingberg Other grabs should ignore i-frames since they have 0 poise, this one should have it removed since you literally can't be staggered while in the air.
one of the funniest new weapons I came across is the "lizard greatsword" heavy attacks launch a projectile while the sword does a thrust. It's infusable, and If both the thrust and projectile land, it basically does double damage. Stacks with charged attack talismans, has a deceptive range for catching players off guard. Downside is it's a random drop from imps in the DLC dungeons/catacombs. If you come across it give it a shot, it's like having a 1/2 range crossbow on top of a greatsword (with a claymore style thrusting heavy)
Invading used to scare me but Chase's videos have helped me appreciate both invading and being invaded And he's also nice enough to explain his builds in-depth everytime, the absolute goat making elden even more fun for me and hopefully others
@@charwhales3194 The change should be increasing the tracking but removing the grab from activating on phantom hit. For blind spot, the only change I think they would implement is the more you spam, the more fp and stamina you will consume.
Chase, the double damage comes from the first hit. if you land the ash of war on someone who is already dodging it still grabs but the first hit (you stabbing the sword in) does no damage. Also the ash of war dmg increases with the crit talisman
What amazes me so much is that, despite the grab being utterly broken and working through s, most of these kills are just because Chase is at home with a Claymore moveset.
That verticality was chef's kiss. Also, turned me on to this lowkey Greatsword. That Ash looks too fun to pass up. Probably need to hop on this now while its still so generous.
I'd definitely recommend the Smithscript weapons Chase. They're so funny to use. The hammer especially has such deceiving range on the running R2 so you can definitely catch some people off guard with them, even if they're running away.
I got this weapon over on Monday and immediately thought "I'd love to see Chase skewer some poor tarnished with this". How nice to have my wish come true so quickly!
Even though the Dexterity scaling is a *D,* the weapon gets better returns at around 30! (Strength soft-caps fairly hard at 54) Also, if you manage to land *Golden Crux* at the same time someone else lands a grabbing attack on you *(Inescapable Frenzy, Lifesteal Fist),* you will get some truly bizarre results!
I think the Smithscript Cirque has a lot of potential. It can have the new backhand blade ashes and the jump heavy has a fast weapon throw that can do some good damage, while the charged heavy can hit multiple targets. Seems like a high skill weapon but could be fun!
While a S dex scaling is nice, int or fth builds get a whole lot more AR with the thing because magic/fire/sacred infusions scale both, physical and elemental damage with the corresponding stat. It's really easy to reach like 800 AR with only 60 in either stat.
if ash makes direct weapon contact you get the early weapon damage. but the grab area is larger than the weapon hitbox, so if you miss with weapon, you still get the grab, then get ash damage
The crit calcs using the AR of the weapon but the follow up of the AoW scales with faith. One of the rare weapons where its not a bad idea to invest into a little more than the min faith requirment
@@ArthurTOEIC_YBM I would stilll go for more str since the weapon has pierce damage (heavy and crouch poke attack), which only works via physical damage. I rather do more dmg on my base weapon rather than its AoW follow up. If you tend to land the 2nd part often, having a little more faith isn’t a bad idea

The fact you can jump down with the AoW and ambush them makes it even better. A few things can do this already like the butt slam but this one has style
Please give the Lizard Greatsword a shot! It has the claymore moveset, and it's really good with Cold infusion, it has good scaling and procs status really well with its unique heavy that has an extra hit
That sword & Aow grab is insane.Epic grab out of the tree jump & in the Aow of Hand of Malenia Chase.The Colossal blood fiends arm club when blood infused has a B”rating in arcane & the highest bleed at -221 in ER.
I've been rocking this thing in invasions since i got it. The grab will straight up pull people out of their rolls, and is a work of art. It's also useful for stopping Mesmer's Spear spam since you can pull them out of that as well
Got summoned to a players world as a blue boy. Immediately got jumped on by a guy using this weapon and he straight up assaulted me, one shot. Then as I faded away I saw him turn the host into his woman with the same move
11:20 yeah you can still use some ash of wars without fp. It just doesn't add any magic to it: nebula on bastard's stars just has you do the animation without any nebula, but it still does some damage
"This sword is my home" is how i feel about the ancient meteoric ore greatsword. Its the zweihander moveset perfectly made for my strength/arcane character
Have you figured out if the AoW combos into the followup? I can't tell if the times its missed after connecting the initial thrust is me inputting it too late or it just being dodgeable
@earthnugget7881 Its been very inconsistent in pvp. Some people can roll right out of it while others seem to be stunlocked. It works out enough to keep using
@PunishedGoat honestly even without the followup it does good damage with insane chasedown ability+you can catch people off guard with the followup if they try and punish a whiff
Hey Chase, the smithscript weapons are pretty unique in that they have physical damage that scales with faith and int, kinda like the erdsteel dagger! So if you faith or int infuse it, it'll scale both the elemental and physical damage. With 60 faith, I have nearly 1000 AR on the great hammer sacred infused. You should check it out!
